I genuinely like Marshall a ton and think he has been very good for us this year...not great, but very good. However, I have that enduring image as well. Why is it that he stops in his tracks just about every time he catches the ball. Not only does he stop in his tracks, but he almost begins backpedaling until he crumples to the ground. I've never understood it...is it in an attempt to get

You may be right in your thinking that none of the three will be here in 2011. If I were Ross, I'd make darn sure Henning's gone. Since it is a QB-driven league, I'd make darn sure I got as much evaluative information about Henne as I possibly could - outside of Parcells' family tree - before I give a blessing on his release. He will cost a few hundred thousand $$ and a roster space in 2011.

Loved the article. In my mind it's still definitely debatable whether Henne is complete trash or capable of getting better to the point where he QBs a Super Bowl winning team. It is not debatable, IMO, whether Henning's year as OC in 2010 has been horrible and he should be gone ASAP. If two things are messed up, it's often difficult to tell what the impact of one is on the other. In my opin

I want someone not named Henning (and probably not named Lee or Dorrall) to be our OC very soon (read: several weeks ago...perhaps even before the season started), and I want him to make a decision about Henne. I don't know if it's Billick (though I'm not opposed to him at this point), but I'd like an unbiased proven OC opinion on Henne. Frankly, if Billick concluded that he can't work with Hen

Chyren, that's my head-scratching on a QB I still like and don't want the Phins to give up on. We need him to be better than the guy who can be that kind of player as long as everything else is going well. I get that no one can do that week after week - even Peyton had a pretty miserable streak this year when nothing else was going right. However, we need Henne to develop into that guy who w

I'd give Chad Pennington a shot a la Jason Garrett. The dream catch would be prying some proven genius away (Cam), but given our reality of a coach in his last contract year and a ton of uncertainty at QB, I think I like Pennington. In terms of Dorrell and Lee, I fear that they might have been tainted by (or protected by) being too close to Henning. I'm not impressed by Lee's development of

Age 36 I chose focus on the rest of the team. I know you requested ONLY that information, but I am providing more because I don't think the options are diametrically opposed, mutually exclusive or exhaustive. I agree that QB is the most important player position to get right. I do not agree that the means of acquisition must be to trade what you have to in order to get him. If they k

Regarding the first question? Do I get a proven commodity or am I taking my chances with an unproven commodity?

1123. Re: Vick!
I would welcome Vick to the team and believe that he has paid for his transgressions. I also believe that he's a better fit in Philly, but don't think that he'd be another AJ Feeley...he's something special and just happens to be in the perfect place in Philly. I also believe that he will be signed or franchised by Philly.

I will vote with a little more definition. 1st question: Is the franchise QB a rookie or young veteran QB who is not known to be a franchise QB yet? (Luck, Kolb, Vince Young?) or is it Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees - true known quantity franchise QBs right now? I don't think Indy would trade Manning right now. But, if they would take say our 1st rounder, Marshall, Davis and Ronni

Philosophically, I wonder whether Sparano doesn't trust Henne or if it's mostly just Henning who doesn't. It's utterly clear that Henning doesn't. If Sparano just doesn't trust Henne at all, then he should (if he remains our coach) just go ahead and give up on him now or after the season or whatever. Seriously, if he just can't bring himself to trust him, then forget it. However, if he ha

Ugh...I just threw up in my mouth. Sparano, you were able to fix the defense in one year with Nolan and a cast of new players. I get that you are a gentleman and don't want to call out your coach & friend, but jeez. He's going to be gone in 2 games...why not now? (fire him).

This is where I am, too. That's why I think Sparano should fire Henning immediately (frankly, I think he should have done it long ago this season). If Henning is done after the season as is widely reported, then I think someone else should have a couple games to see what they can do with Henne. I know it's basically too late now, but I think it should be done anyway. I am not at all again

AMEN! Sorry if I haven't responded to previous posts. I was thinking about starting this thread myself this week. There are other implications: - it LOOKS like he's getting great protection and time to throw because we're routinely only putting a couple receiving options into patterns. That's why we fans get so frustrated when it looks like he's staring down receivers and holding onto t

Great research. I am almost inclined to exclude the Giants from the equation because they were almost simply fulfilling destiny on that one run. I love that they did in the Pats season, but they are not the same as NE, IND & PIT, who have consistently competed for the SB just about every year of the past decade. I would argue that IND is the only one of the three that clearly built aroun

I definitely think it's a combo of the two, but if I were to compare the Henne regression vs. everything else, I would say the 'everything else' is cumulatively the worse offender. Although I am in favor of viable competition with Henne for starting QB, I am inclined to believe that it might actually be easier to fix the 'everything else' than to somehow miraculously ensure we have one of the

I like the Vick idea. I think (though I also proposed it earlier) that it's far-fetched, but I thought Moss leaving NE was pretty far-fetched before this season.

I was so impressed by Garner last year that I wonder if he's what might allow Carey to move to RG next season.

Sorry, I didn't mean he has to get better in the sense that he simply must as a matter of natural law or anything. I meant that he must improve, or he won't be what we need for a starting QB long-term. The best case scenario, in my opinion, is that he improves dramatically and competes annually for the top 5 QB in the league. My confidence that this will happen has dwindled throughout this

I said after last week that the real shame is that we won't really be able to evaluate Henne in games that really matter - which taints the overall evaluation. I am unhappy with his 55 yards and 28% completion percentage, but I will say that I was wrong - the games still count right now, and we won. I got the sense that the clear message from the coaching staff to Henne as the game unfolded t

BNF - he might take 2, but in the past when he's done it, it has been in cases where both could end up on the field at the same time (DE, CB, WR) and in the cases of at least DE & WR, there's a good bit of rotation among a larger group than just the starters. Also, when he has done it, it has been with both picks being among the first 3 rounds (ok, Hartline in the 4th...but other than that).
