Just about every team - great and small - have passed up on the toppest-shelf QBs at various points. Marino Brady (an average of 5+ times in that single draft) Montana Warner More recently, Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo, painfully, Drew Brees 2x. We weren't the only ones to pass on them...great or at least potentially great teams did, too. St. Louis passed on Ryan for CLong and sucked

I think Vick will get the tag and I doubt we'd work a deal to get him here. BUT what's a QB like him worth? I've admitted that I used to think OL was the single most important on-field player/unit to determine a team's success. I have only recently given QB a slight edge in importance as the #1 component. SO if QB is the single most important player/unit, then why would we not be aggressi

I absolutely love the city of New York. I visit once or twice a year between business, visiting my sister who now lives and works there and running the NYC marathon (03, 06 & 10). However, I disdain the jests more than just about anything on earth. They were handed the playoffs on a gift-wrapped platter last year. And they have gotten by the past few weeks by the skin of their teeth. I

Futt - I hear you re: Philly, but Vick is a running team guy, too. I think he wouldn't be as prolific for us as in Philly, but still better than anyone on the list. My thought on Volek is that if he was that good, he would have somehow been given a real opp sometime and it would have proven out...at 34, he's sort of Kitna to me.

Got it, Monty. I see things differently with respect to him and who he is/what he did. What he did=reprehensible. Who his is...question in my mind...forgiven, remorseful, changed person? same old Vick. I'm not really sure. If that could be determined, my #1 question wrt him would be whether he'd be as effective playing for our team or if Reid's Eagles are the perfect storm for him. Fina

I haven't watched a ton of games this year, but Vick has apparently reinvented himself. I'm not ga-ga for him, but I do think he brings more to the table than the folks that will likely be available.

Yesterday's performance + the circumstance has led me to the conclusion that there needs to be truly viable competition for starting QB in 2011. And this competition should include 2 players who have a legitimate shot at being the solution to our QB issues for the next 5 years. It wasn't just his performance yesterday (which was very, very bad). The circumstance is that we're no longer reall

I've defended (though not blindly, IMO) Henne all year long. As of right now, the best he can do for me all year - short of miraculously winning a playoff game or two - is prove that he deserves a chance to compete for the starter position next year. I will also say that, IMO, Thigpen doesn't even deserve the consideration Henne might get, and Pennington would be a desperation move to even be

This is a big blow to the Jets. Leonhard is one of those guys whose value is much higher than he gets credit for. Revis may sort of have his island out there, but Leonhard was the leader of the secondary. I hope it's as negatively impacting as I think it might be.

1154. Re: Henne
I've been and am a supporter of Henne as our starting QB. He had a good number of yards and did some really nice things out there...and he still has a ton of room to grow. He cost us 3 points on the INT and probably another 3 on the sack he took. It really looked like he started with some great confidence...lost it...and (this was perhaps the most important part for me) regained it again. C'm

Though I voted the Henning one, I'm sure it's everything. However, Henning is in a better position than anyone else to adjust in order to be successful. Ricky and Ronnie can't all the sudden get shiftier and faster to the outside since our interior OL isn't as strong. Our interior OL isn't going to magically get as good as they were last year. Henne can't throw a short slant if Marshall is

Well, I know the Penny4Henne switch has been made, but I agree with everything you wrote (and I just now read), Odenn. Henning literally seemed to sabotage his own offense with his playcalling, philosophy, etc. I think one of the reasons I have been such a Henne supporter is because I remember what it looked like when he was firing passes into tight windows and chucking long bombs against the

I think it's similar to Ginn - throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The front office/coaching staff sees that someone isn't capable of doing what they have in mind for the person, so they get rid of the person vs. maximizing their potential and minimizing exposure to their weaknesses. I think that it's possibly a philosophical approach more than anything...a willingness to throw the baby o

What precisely do people need to see? I'm a Henne supporter, but I see he has warts. I'd like quantifiable measures that people need to see to make a decision...or an admission that it's sort of a gut call. Frankly, I'm afraid that by the end of the season what we'll find out is that we don't know because Henning was too scared to let him sink or swim and kept him in the kiddy pool.

Good question. I did feel 4-4 due to level of competition. However, I probably thought we'd beat either NE or NY at home and lose to either GB or MIN on the road. Maybe lose to both NFC teams and steal a PIT or BAL win. We have lost to the teams that have basically most consistently been ranked in the top 4 of the NFL (if you believe in power rankings) since things started sorting themselves

My problem (and if I read chatfkup correctly, so is his) is not so much with the record vs. what any of us might have projected at the beginning of the season as it is with how we got here. We have screwed ourselves or been screwed out of just about every win. If not for being screwed in the PIT game, we would have likely gone into BAL riding a 3-game win streak. The NFL is a streaky, moment

Two tough defenses...whoever wins the turnover battle likely wins. Like we did with Pitt, we need to just keep smacking them on defense. Another heavyweight fight.

I was thinking about how fortunate we are that Britt had an injury, and this move makes sense for them. Fisher will either get what he wants or dump him, too. Please let him be disinterested or not playing when we play them in a couple weeks.

Monte - I actually had a good bit typed up about Henning & our need to change offensive philosophy, but decided to just go with the short response and see where the thread went. However, since it went there... If we did get Moss, I would advocate some anarchy. If Henning went too conservative, it would be up to the players to play to put big points on the board. Yes, I understand the gr

I was on the fence leaning toward 'don't get him'. This changes my opinion. If BM wants him, I really think it can work.
