I think Henne will play better this year. I think his play last year was - in large (huge) part - a result of Sparano's philosophy and Henning's overall approach to offense and handling of Henne (which Sparano entrusted to him).
To be honest, my fear is that Henne plays just 'better' enough to keep coaches from determining whether he is the solution or not. I am more fearful of this than of

Honestly thought the same thing...
Only thing I can see is more talent across the board. I still think getting rid of Smiley and Grove when we did was the wrong move at the wrong time.
This year, I think Garner finds his way into a starting role somewhere...just don't know where.

I think there's still life in the Orton deal and I hate that VY was taken by Philly, who is basically fielding the Pro-Bowlsquad.
However, I'm anxious and even a bit optimistic about Henne without Henning. And - painful though it may be - I probably fall into the camp that likes the 'sink or swim' position Henne, Sparano and maybe Ireland find themselves in.

DM took the time to make the point I would have. We are darn fortunate to have Hartline. Whether he's our #2, 3 or 4 receiver, he's a football player that adds value to our team.

right on both counts.
I'm not too excited, after last year, about putting the game in his hands with a minute down by 6.
However, a more confident Henne - more confident because he's thrived a bit more in the less critical moments - is perhaps one who can perform better than he did last year.

I like the comparison to last year's defensive overhaul. It's not a perfect analogy (e.g. Daboll's no Nolan).
But, remember that our 09 defense was truly disappointing, and we switched DC and I think 8 or 9 of 11 starters. I remember worrying about Solai and Clemons and Smith and Wake...how much impact would Dansby really have? My fear now (assuming games are played) is that they will regre

I'm not truly a student of the draft and even less this year. So, I find it difficult to answer the question if I were the decision maker. However, from what I have read so far, I would base my decision primarily on whether I thought he had what it takes mentally. Apparently his passing skills are unquestionably legit. I personally favor a more mobile QB, but Flacco, Brady, Manning are proof

I wonder about the Trifecta's eval of what was between his ears and in his heart. I wonder if part of his struggles to develop & perform were due to lack of one/the other/both. If so, then he was an even worse pick in the 2nd round than it originally appeared. (I, for one, was intrigued at the potential and thought he would translate MUCH better than he did)

I'm with Berk to a T. I've read that he's a boom or bust prospect in one report. If he is, then I'm inclined to shy away from him at 15 (maybe move down so the risk is mitigated).
That said, I'm an OL guy who slowly came around to QB being the most important player/unit on the field...followed by OL. I am strongly in favor of building a strong OL.

Crowder - given the situation, how would you have done anything differently? No CBA, so there's the 30% rule that kept him from getting much more than $650K/yr on a new contract. There was no way he'd accept that, and I understand that. He played very well this past year, IMO, but has shown a propensity for laziness or not living up to potential or whatever, so the Phins were worried about inv

I'm not opposed to taking a project at QB. However, I'm skeptical of the Phins ability to develop a prospect into a quality, consistently top 1/2 of the league starting QB. I can't remember the last time we took a young QB and developed him...maybe Scott Mitchell?

Yeah, I'm definitely a meritocracy type, so your short description of union life makes me think it wouldn't be too appealing to me.

My brother, dad and I were watching the Super Bowl after the 1982 season. I was 8 and he was 5. My dad made us go to bed at halftime, and we sort of just each picked who we wanted to win. To this day, we've maintained our fanaticism, though I moreso than he. That's it - no logic, no regional bias, not even a Marino quite yet.
In 4th grade, I wrote a letter to Dan Marino and got a reply wit

BTW - I hope I am an outlier here. I don't wish anything bad upon the NFL or the Phins. So, my asking is a result of some introspection and a desire to know where I stand in terms of the rest of the fan base. I'm definitely not trying to sway anyone's opinion toward the negative.

I think I'm in the 'less fanatic for life' category, but may be in the 'do something meaningful to win me back' category. At 8 games, I may lean more toward being won back. At a full season, I'm probably leaning more towards lukewarm for life.
I'm looking forward to potentially being surprised by the results.
Frankly, I think it's something I think teams & the NFL should be asking fan

Perhaps I'm fickle and/or cheap. I almost never go to the movies (maybe once per year). I don't have a Netflix account and the last time I went to Blockbuster was probably a year or so ago. I have rented some flicks from Redbox for $1/each. I recently purchased an Apple TV and have viewed some movies through it. I don't even know if I truly have a favorite actor. When an actor I like (say, D

I don't have a problem with either one of them being on the roster in 2011, assuming a viable 3rd option in the mix. However, I think you've overstated Thigpen's case when you say he KICKED a$$ in the 2009 PIT game. He threw for 50%, 1 TD, 2 INT, 83 yards.
I was at the KC game in 08 where he played some exciting ball. The receiving talent there included the best TE ever to play the game and

Chyren - you're absolutely right about it being tough to deal with. I have seen glimpses of gamesmanship from him, but mostly in 2009. I still firmly believe that Henning is more at fault than Henne in 2010 - Henne was absolutely set up for failure, IMO...it was as if he almost had no chance for success by design.
I still staunchly support Chad as an option for starter in 2011. I don't thin

I interviewed a guy on Friday whose friend dated Henne in college...the only thing he said about him is that he's dumber than &#%@.
Possibly true, but the Jets game performance from last year has me hoping for one more year...I just don't know where that player went in 2010.
