I was thinking about how fortunate we are that Britt had an injury, and this move makes sense for them. Fisher will either get what he wants or dump him, too. Please let him be disinterested or not playing when we play them in a couple weeks.

Monte - I actually had a good bit typed up about Henning & our need to change offensive philosophy, but decided to just go with the short response and see where the thread went. However, since it went there... If we did get Moss, I would advocate some anarchy. If Henning went too conservative, it would be up to the players to play to put big points on the board. Yes, I understand the gr

I was on the fence leaning toward 'don't get him'. This changes my opinion. If BM wants him, I really think it can work.

John Jerry did some nice things and I think will help the run game the remainder of the season. If I were the OC and looking at how to use RW & RB most effectively, I would probably use RW as the primary ball carrier and RB more as a running back who can split out occasionally. Right now, RW is hitting the hole faster and harder than RB, and that's what we need. Our run blocking isn't quit

Frankly, that's why I was so upset by "the call". I agree with anyone who says that we should have never put ourselves in the position to be so dependent upon a call. HOWEVER, we did and if the refs had done their job fully and correctly on that play, we likely would have won that game. These games are won & lost by so many things other than talent and execution...if we lose some

I honestly think we have the potential to get hot. The teams that do that are generally the ones that have played below their potential and level of talent...that describes us to a 'T'.

We win NYJ lose PIT loses TEN loses absent a tie, either IND or HOU join us at 4-3 tonight We definitely have our warts, and it certainly would have been nice to see NE lose, but we made up ground on just about everyone we could have this week.

You may be right...I suppose time will tell. I will say, though, that I used to be a die-hard baseball fan until 94 when they didn't play the world series. I figured if it wasn't important enough for them, it was no longer of any importance for me. I became a serious NFL fan after 87, so I haven't really had to see any games missed that I can remember too well.

BNF - that was my reaction initially as well. I'm watching a lot of replays on NFL network, and one thing that stands out is how long it seems to take Henne to get back, read the field and get rid of the ball. I attribute this to maturity, and I think he will get better on his end. However, it is frustrating to see guys who have had a chance to do this for several seasons in a row recognize th

Honestly, the league is perilously close to losing me as a fan. Any number of missed games due to labor disagreement might be the nail in the coffin.

Ginn had every imaginable thing wrong for a WR and football player, save lack of speed. That said, he was probably Revis' worst single play last year and he saved our butts in the second NYJ game. I think we'd have been 0-2 against them last year w/o him. Hypothetically, if he were used correctly and we had Marshall last year, he doesn't drop the pass at the end of the INDY game because he

I don't think they're deliberately holding him back while simultaneously being convinced that he could light up the board for 30-40. That would blatantly betray us as fans. However, I could see the coaches allowing their philosophy to influence their handling of Henne. In fact, I think many coaches throughout the history of the game have been guilty of allowing their philosophy to override t

...and as long as I'm at it, we freakin' swapped out all 3 interior O-linemen and are scratching our heads trying to figure out why we can't dominate with the run like we did last year...in an uncapped year! In fact, the only interior O-lineman who was consistent throughout preseason has now sat out the past 4 games while Pat McQuestion-mark chooses to block no one just about every time I see hi

To be honest, we need to win this game and get on a roll. Momentum is a powerful thing in the NFL, and we need to get some.

BNF - I agree that Henne could and needs to play better. The last drive of the game was pretty ridiculous. However, the 2 3-outs to start the game are interesting case studies. On the first drive, they ran Ronnie for 1 yard. Then they set up a pass play where Marshall was the only receiver to run a route. Henne pumped when I think he could have let it fly and hit BM, but he ended up roll

Monte - this is perhaps the most salient analysis I've read on Henne in a long time. I don't know for a fact that Henne will take us to the promised land. However, he has a winning record in his young career (which, for all intents and purposes started just over a season after a 1-15 debacle), and he has improved significantly at least in terms of measurables in just over a season of starting

Look, I'm not prone to arguing, but I do not know that you are right and in fact think you are wrong. The final score is not an indicator of our performance when 3 points are gifted to the opposing team. That cannot be argued. If you are going to argue that we didn't finish, then you need to begin from the position that we have the ball 1st & 10 on our 20 with whatever time (2:30?) left

Fin - we have beaten the teams we should have beaten. We have lost to the teams that have been ranked among the top 5-6 teams in the league. Absent a blown call, we would be 4-2, having knocked off arguably the best team in the league at the time. We shot ourselves in the foot against NY & NE. I understand that being 'good' includes not doing that to ourselves, but being 'good' doesn't me

could you post the verbiage/text of the rule to which you are referring? If it is true, then it absolutely seals the case. The refs clearly said they could not determine who recovered it...meaning that they could not determine that Ben recovered it...meaning that by rule it is a touchback.

Chambers - I want to be citizen 2 in your 4-2 world. I know that every sane, rational realist will say that we should never have been in the position to need that call to go our way, BUT I will say that the same can be said for Pittsburgh. They needed that play to go their way more than we did. Mistakes are a part of football (and justifiably so for players playing their hearts out...not so fo

Amen! I have not been able to check the messageboard since the game ended, and I have had pent-up frustration about this since then. They ABSOLUTELY made a huge, game-deciding mistake. It was blatant and inexcusable other than to admit a mistake. I'm often slow on the nuances of the game, but I IMMEDIATELY screamed at the tv "They have to figure out who recovered the ball!" It is e

Odenn - I'm with you on some of your thoughts here. However, we have to be careful with stats. San Diego is currently #1 offensively and defensively in terms of total yards gained and yards allowed...and they are 2-4, having just lost to STL. I do think we leave a minimum of 15-20 rushing yards per game on the field due to the play of our interior line. I haven't watched Berger specifical
