Pass rush has a ton to do with that. We got a good number of sacks last year, but I've been re-watching the season, and it seems we either got to the QB for a sack or he had all day to throw. There was no consistent pressure for the most part. If Nolan & his new LB crew can dial up the pressure, I think we'll see far fewer highlight reel passes. There simply won't be time for WR to run th

I would take that chance, assuming a cheap contract. The Dallas thing clearly didn't work the way he/they thought it would. However, even last year, he had 15.7 YPC and converted almost 20% of his catches into TD. For his career, he averages nearly 15 YPC. I'm high on Hartline, but Williams is bigger and has done it for more years. Realistically, if Henne throws 480 times and completes 65%

Honestly, the whole truck thing is a non-issue with me. If he did it...fine; if not...fine. In the court of this one person's public opinion, it's neither 'guilty' nor 'not guilty'...it's 'whatever'.

I'm a big fan of the orange jerseys. I wouldn't want them to become the standard, but I like the change-up. Beat NE on 4th down throw... Beat WAS on a late TD (RW, I think)... Beat NYJ on Monday Night... Am I missing some?

I thought it was insightful to read what he said about the Ravens D, actually. I agree - it's no longer so much about the yards you give up (which have traditionally pointed to points scored) - but it's about tightening in the RZ and not giving up big plays for scores. I am anxious and hopeful at the same time that an improved pass rush and secondary will help with the big plays. And I'm hop

Yup - I'm remembering the game in 06 when Ronnie had 11 carries for 5 yards. They were like a stone wall.

My opinion - I'd listen to just abt any other player than him if I want any useful information. He seems like a dude who just enjoys spouting off.

I have been utterly intrigued for most of the last 2 years to see what Ginn could do with a true #1 on the field. Now, in my opinion, is definitely not the time to trade him. I have visions of what he did to Revis, only now Revis and the #2 corner are lined up on Marshall and Hartline. We can finally capitalize on his strengths while minimizing his weaknesses. He won't have to be more then

thanks for the kudos, but it was pure coincidence. I just happened to have been thinking about options yesterday - no special insight. The 2nd + 2011 2nd is actually on the high end of what I thought it would take to get it done. Now, Brandon, may your play continue to be at an exceptionally high level and may your emotional/off-field baggage be left at the Denver airport.

1245. Re: JETS
Just to add to Crowder's sentiments, the Jets were pretty fortunate on the injury front last year, if I recall correctly. We lost our starting seasoned CB, a top 5 when healthy RB, OL to the point of ridiculous lineups at the end of the Carolina game, our starting QB who was the 2009 NFL MVP runner-up, our anchor NT. Our best player at just about every premium position was lost in 2009. Then

Yep - that would be an intriguing 4th option. And, I think it's the one the Trifecta would most likely pursue. However, if we're able to craft the deal so that the 2011 4th only escalates to a 2nd if they're very productive and very well-behaved, then I think it's a worthwhile deal from my perspective. I would seek to construct it so that the behavior bit extends right up to the 2011 draft, no

Sorry if it wasn't clear, PF2, in the text below the options I said that "for argument's sake that, to get either one of them, it would take a 2010 2nd + a 2011 4th that could escalate to a 2nd based upon performance and behavior." Holmes and his 1200+ yards and SB MVP award went for a 5th. I think a 2nd and a 2011 4th that could escalate might be reasonable (or even overpaying) for

It sounds like the pre-draft market doesn't support a 1st rounder for Brandon Marshall. I really don't know what it would take (w/o paying the full 1st & 3rd price) to get Jackson. Let's say for argument's sake that, to get either one of them, it would take a 2010 2nd + a 2011 4th that could escalate to a 2nd based upon performance and behavior. The market for troubled WR seems to be at a

I'm probably a sucker for what I perceive to be Ronnie's value to the Phins based upon his versatility, but I would not trade him for a 2nd UNLESS I didn't think that I'd re-sign him after 2010. If it's a 2nd rounder for just one more year of projected production, then I seriously consider it. However, I don't think I'd necessarily pull the trigger on a pick in the bottom quarter of the 2nd ro

Honestly, and please take no offense PF2, any deal that results in his not being on our roster is as good as it gets for me. I won't deny he was a major reason we won a couple of games in 08, but I am astounded at what little value he provided on the field in 09 and insubordination cannot be tolerated.

I am also not very impressed with their ability to bring out the talent. However, I would augment it from 'guys they've brought in' to 'in our WR corps in general'. Hartline and Bess, to me, appear to be the types of players that are self-motivated to get better and maximize their potential. Perhaps the most important measure of a good position coach, I believe, is to maximize players' talen

I'm good with that. I don't have a problem with Marino backing him, and I have no doubt that at least part of Marino's motivation in backing him was because of their familiarity and friendship (none of which do I have any special insight into...just assuming it was there). I also don't really have a huge problem with WannSpiel picking Fiedler over Huard. I really wish that they would have pick

I'm with you regarding the number of games Wanny won for us. I don't think Fiedler was a mistake...I just don't think Marino was wrong for backing Huard. It was like picking between a Ford Escort and a Chevy Cavalier when you wanted (and really needed) a Porsche. No one's wrong for picking one car that gets you from A to Z over the other, but when you show up to the race, you know that you hav

I haven't kept track of where everyone stands on Marshall joining the Phins, but there's a pretty large contingency of folks who seem to outright despise him...folks who wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole no matter what. If that's the case, then we should hope that the Jets get him and he blows up on them. I personally hate the things I have read about him personally, but I see tremendous

whatever the money, i'm just not convinced he's that good a receiver. even in 2008 when he seemingly blew it up, it was really just a string of several really good games at the end of the season. Over the course of his 7 seasons, he averages 53 catches, 812 yards and a bit over 4 TD...yawn. That's nothing more than the next step in the evolution of Brian Hartline...or about what Ted Ginn did i

I thought the "Marshall visits, no deal" video on Yahoo! sports' NFL page was pretty interesting regarding Marshall's visit to SEA. I had understood that the #6 overall was basically a foregone conclusion as the price. It sounds like that's far from certain. I am enamored with all of the seemingly high-quality options we have on the table for the #12 pick, but I can't think of one
