With respect to the subject of the post, I'm right here. He had a bad night. Prior to Monday night, his ONLY interception in 3 games was a tipped (though, admittedly off target) pass on 4th and do-or-die to end the game. Don't get me wrong, he still has a ton of stuff to work on, and I can even believe that BP might have uttered some disappointment in his progress. BUT: - his current ra

I may be in the minority, but I agree - it's not that bad. The reason I'm pi$$ed, though, is because we could be 4-0. We have beaten ourselves in the 2 losses. Frankly, it's for this reason in my mind that it's not that bad. It's not like we're out-talented...

Tough to disagree, though I'm hoping Marshall is it by the end of the season (ok, by next week). It sort of feels like the addition of Marshall to Henne is like someone who trades up from a Pinto to a Porsche. You have all these new features and capabilities, but you have to learn how use them before you're truly realizing how much better the Porsche is. At the moment, Henne looks a bit like

vikeinmontana - I appreciate your perspective. I would say that this is one of those opportunities for the Phins to steal one that they probably shoudln't, based on the circumstances you describe. I kind of think it will be one of those games that both teams sort of let early momentum dictate. In other words, if we are able to frustrate Favre and AP early and score 7 or 10 points before allowin

The money could have been spent better, but I was speaking only of talent evaluation for Smiley and Grove. They both played like talented interior linemen for us when they played. I was especially impressed by Smiley, but Grove was very good, too. We had one of the highest rated running games with Pennington having a not-so-great start to the season last year. Satele was a weak link on the

This is true, but that was why I did the 'relative to other teams' bit. I suppose there's a cap that might be implemented that gives us no particular advantage over, say, Dallas who has invested big-to-huge $$$ in every skill position on offense and very handsome salaries to Newman & Ware...and probably others I'm unaware of. Or NYJ who have personified the other side of no cap. However,

I was thinking about this, too. IF there's a salary cap in place in 2011, then we could be among those who are in a very good position relative to other teams in terms of being able to spend in FA. Brown, Williams & Pennington all (I think) have contracts that expire after 2011, totaling somewhere in the 'hood of $15M salary cap hit. Meanwhile, we've 'eaten-but-ridded-ourselves-of' tons

Right on! I hope Marshall literally trashes Revis island while Holmes sits at home on 9/26.

honestly, he's one of my least favorite phins for whatever reason, but I will say that our run D seemed to go over a cliff in 08 when he was injured toward the end of the year.

Phins 28 - Buffalo 10 We jump out 14-0...pin back the ears and blitz the crap out of Edwards...it bites us once with a long TD at some point, but we combine heavy running and efficient passing down the stretch to dominate the 2nd half.

With Brady getting some love (though not Peyton Manning love), Moss is feeling unwanted. I'm hoping that their offense will be too weak to compensate for their defense. With Mankins holding out, Welker returning from serious injury and Ty Warren and Bodden gone for the year, they are questionable at a number of pretty critical positions. I'd love for this or anything else to cause divisive i

PS - i just went and read Bradshaw's comments about paying for kids' school. I hadn't read it before typing my comment above. I'm not sure what to think when he and I are thinking the same thing...not sure I'm entirely comfortable with that :-)

Crowder, you're right - he does have every right to spend the money however he wants. I had a whole bit typed up about 'what if his spending vs. football earning end up with the result that he can't send his kid to college but could have used that $50k to do so'. I'll spare you that, as in the end, I've projected my values on him. Frankly, unless it was an investment he hoped would appreci

Tough for me to rail on someone who apparently is a genuinely good person at heart, but it looks to me like he blew about 13-15 cents for every dime he made. Why anyone needs to take almost $25M in loans out for real estate purchases when they've made over $50M in their career is beyond me.

I think that spending habits rank right up there with family, Spirituality, core beliefs, etc. that give insight into a person's makeup and philosophy of life. Again, I want to stress that I probably don't have the first clue about NFL player culture, but this episode strengthens the perception that playing a game at an elite level does not equate to making good decisions - financial or otherwis

I grew up in KS and only got to see him on MNF and playoffs, generally. The thing I notice from the video is that he didn't seem to let coverage keep him from throwing the pass. I'm sure it bit him a lot, too, but I'll bet a lot of his success was due to the defense thinking they had receivers covered.

I love what they did for the Phins as players, but I don't like any part of the broadcast team for preseason games. I was almost glad when the sound went out momentarily as i watched the DVR recording of the game. I'll give them a bit of wiggle room, as preseason games are, in general, pretty brutal TV in terms of keeping a running commentary. Lots of flags and players coming in & out, v

I think they have. I mentioned the possibility of picking up either Marshall or Jackson a few months ago and pretty much agreed with whoever (honestly can't remember who) said that SD wasn't trading Jackson. Rivers has lost his Left Tackle & best WR...and LT, who has lost a step. Gates is still special, but probably on the downside of special. Either their GM knows something everyone el

This kind of crap in someones personal life keeps them from concentrating on developing and playing up to their potential. If this sort of stuff affected him in Miami, thanks a bundle CC.

Love the message! Fans have the right to say whatever they want, but he focuses the message on winning, which should be every fan's and player's ultimate goal. There's no 'feel sorry for us' message in the tweet.

I was one of the ones that wanted to see what would happen with Ginn and Marshall on the field at the same time. It's very disappointing to hear this, but probably not too surprising. To be honest, I would still like to have seen what it was like for him to have a long bomb shot downfield every game or every other game. I know you don't keep a player for 8-16 plays a year, but if several of

Pass rush has a ton to do with that. We got a good number of sacks last year, but I've been re-watching the season, and it seems we either got to the QB for a sack or he had all day to throw. There was no consistent pressure for the most part. If Nolan & his new LB crew can dial up the pressure, I think we'll see far fewer highlight reel passes. There simply won't be time for WR to run th
