Is this the Rule?

I just read that possibly if a ball is fumbled into the endzone it MUST be recovered by the person who fumbled it, otherwise no matter who recovers it , it is a touchback....Is that true?

Either way we got screwed...(ie. we recovered the ball)

could you post the verbiage/text of the rule to which you are referring? If it is true, then it absolutely seals the case. The refs clearly said they could not determine who recovered it...meaning that they could not determine that Ben recovered it...meaning that by rule it is a touchback.

I think the rule is if the ball is fumbled OUT OF THE END ZONE, meaning it goes out of bounds from the end zone. That means no one recovered it. That didn't happen in this case.
