"DB's: C- I think any day you face Rodgers it's going to be a long one. We gave up 313 yards even when we put massive pressure on him. We let the top come off the defense a few times." Yes--agree-- 86 yards came in one big play for a TD. Other than that bomb we would have done pretty good overall. If we can eliminate those type of plays/ mistakes...we can only hope. Good pressure from

I agree the officiating was not that good. Our erratic play calling was just as good. IMO Ronnie made that first down. GB think they were robbed with the call on the NT being over the center on the kick.

No point in discussing prior coaching staff--there is clearly a wacky philosophy on offense. If changing schemes is designed to get the D off balance, all it is doing is stopping momentum. This approach seems to occur every week. Play calling and use of the clock is without rhyme of reason. On defense of the goal line, what was all that "confusion?" After stopping them we let th

I would think that when it came time to trim down the number of players, special teams players were part of the selection process of who stays and who goes. The coaches make picks, advocate for those who have promise, and "badda bing," there's the team. Selecting solid players apparently is harder than it looks. In all sports it's execution under the circumstances that makes a top pl

With the release of Bonamego, the logical step is his assistant. However, that doesn't mean the Dolphins will not seek out an experienced coach to head special teams somewhere during the season or afterwards. I'm pleased that Bonamego was fired by Sparano. That was the right thing to do. Now we'll have to wait for a couple of weeks to see if changes are made to correct blocking and tackl

2466. Re: Henne
The game went down the toilet because of special teams play. Henne did not do anything to rally the team and shows he's still a journeyman at QB. As long as you don't ask him to do to much, he'll be okay, but his skills and leadership aren't ample enough to turn things around when other bad things happen. Chad Pennington could have QB'd the game tonight with a better result. The Dolphin effor

There should have been no smiles on the part of any Dolphin tonight after half time. Whatever was said to Henne must have been a doozy. "Hey, what do the we (Dolphins) have in common with Murphy's Law? Response: "Everything!" Maybe that's what he was smiling about. ---- Marino was extremely competitive and showed his emotions often when things didn't go as planned

I was disappointed with the running game too. The O-line did a fairly decent job, however, the D of the Jets closed holes/gaps and gang tackled often. Ricky Williams still has "gas left in his tank" IMO and we should have tried to get him and Ronnie Brown into the open field with swing passes, let them go against CBs. The offensive is tentative and unsure of themselves. That's th

"The Jets played a better game is what it came down to." I waited and waited all day for this game, listened to the hype that favored the Dolphins for the most part, and then when the game starts, in short order the team is down 14 zip. The Dolphins looked hesitant (unsure of themselves) and it was clearly visible in the 1st quarter. Coaching played a big role in this game

Dominance, overwhelming dominance, in terms of score, defense, and professionalism That's a well-balanced team. Go Dolphins.

I guess I'm a bit old school. I don't use the "hate"--it's reserved strictly for the enemy...those that are trying to put you 6' under any way they can. Nothing else qualifies for me, but I understand your application of it to opposing teams/players.

Your hate (strong word) is misplaced, IMO. The historical importance of Notre Dame's success during the 1920s helped build excitement with college football and was a catalyst in helping other institutions, private or state run, build successful and highly competitive college football programs. The sportswriters back in that time period found them interesting along with their coaches. It was a gre

I love to watch aggressive defense; but both teams, IMO, really are 85 percent defense and 15 percent offense. If they could be as good on offense as on defense...now that would be two very balanced teams. On JT being a Jet. It's a business folks; it's a livelihood. He's in the sunset of his football career and will be forced to get a job doing something else in the near future. Who knows

Why do men always shoot themselves in the foot? A "beauty queen contestant" employed as a sports writer who wears provocative clothing along with sexy make-up and fragrance, invited into a place where testosterone is running high; what do you expect, suave, sophisticated behavior? This situation is ripe for uncouth group jr high (middle school) antics. Heck, good looking woman

FWIW, I'll put my money on Drew Brees. He doesn't have the statistics of Favre (nobody does) but Brees is a better team player and leader than BF. It really is a shame we didn't acquire Brees when we had the chance. My belief is the Saints will have their act together and stop the Vikings tonight.

Preseason is not the best barometer to judge a team's ability to perform. No doubt about it. The first game is a better indicator but not the final word. Dealing with opponents when it counts will test their mettle. I'd like the offensive line to push the D back, open holes for our RBs, and pass protect like a steel curtain. Our secondary will be tested early, that includes Dansby. If he's abl

Its been a long time since I've posted--been busy. I've been able to keep track of team progress and the NFL draft and do find things to be unsettled. Some of you have used the words "in disarray," which may be accurate. Watching the preseason games was inconclusive as to who really has talent. Vontae Davis showed some real spunk, but most of the others seem to have been just goin

Overall, linebacking corps is weak covering pass plays and neutralized most of the time during running plays. Joey Porter and Jason Taylor are dealt with and thwarted most of the time nowadays; the inside linebackers are not run stoppers nor are they capable of handling pass coverage over the middle. I'll bet efforts are made during the off season to employ a free agent or two that can firmly str

Chad Henne is growing. He needs to work on his touch, and to throw the ball more on and arc. Too many batted balls shows his low trajectory on release. He's a gamer though. Each game is better for him. Bess did a good job helping him, Hartline is growing into a reliable receiver. Good News for our running game.

With only Ricky running the ball, the Wildcat is no longer a viable running attack. Pat White is not a replacement for Ronnie Brown. In fact, I'm not sure what he "really does" other than add a momentary pause and partial distraction to the game. Re: Tebow. Don't underestimate his abilities. If he's still available on the board when the Dolphin's pick, I'd draft him and work him in

I wasn't impressed with Chris Chambers when he was a Dolphin; he never reached expectations. When he was traded to the Chargers, I watched the highlight films and never noticed any references to him. Getting released after 8 games states plenty about his WR value to the Chargers. He probably has some life left in him that some team will tap into to their benefit. Chambers is experienced, and a n

The pass rush seems to fade in the second half--almost as if the players are out of steam, Yet, I wonder if it's personnel differences. I need to review the tape. I agree with Realist that Wake needs to play. If he adds more spark to the seemingly lazing or tired pass rush in the second half, put him in. One sack would have had an impact. Even a rushed pass. Put Wake in.

The whole value system behind "political correctness" is to be courteous and not disrespectful of anyone's sex, race, or religion. All of these areas once entered may annoy, agitate or anger the person (or group) whose sex, race or religion is being addressed. Not all discussion of sex, race or religion, however, falls into the political correctness arena. There's a fine line and that

Griese's comment was foolish but not deserving of suspension or firing. Wisecracking comments are made by all at some time or another and we've become way to sensitive, IMO, today. True, not all jokes meant to be funny are funny, some are and some aren't. But to think that a wisecrack is made to do injury to others may be an assumption misplaced. I recently received an email that is fun

Now that a couple of days have passed, I think a running team like the Dolphins needs a TE who is really a full back in disquise. Put it another way, we need a TE who also can legitimately play FB. This "player" would have to be TE size (6'2" 240 to 6'4" 255) agile, a good blocker, decent runner, able to catch balls 10-20 yards downfield with capability to overwhelm backs and
