It'll be a lot smarter to make the cap hits larger in 2013, when we have the room to absorb them.

This is pointless to debate whether or not Hartline is worth $6M per year. We don't know what kind of contract he will ultimately sign. Everyone reported Matt Flynn's deal last year was 3 years for $27M. And it turns out it was only $10M guaranteed, and all of that was due in the first 2 years of the deal. So, it was really a 2 year, $10M deal. That's a big difference from what was reported. B

Danny Amendola has averaged 8.8 yards per catch for his career. 8.8! That's less than 9! Have you ever seen a WR with a worse per catch average? He has a nose for the endzone? He has 7 TDs in 4 seasons. He's missed 20 games the last 2 seasons. Danny Amendola is an injury prone poor man's Davone Bess, and does nothing to address our needs at the WR position.

Assuming this deal gets done, we have to wait and see what the guaranteed money is for. It could be 3 years and $18M, but only 9 or 12 guaranteed.

Did you notice that the deal was backloaded, with the guaranteed money up front? His salary was about $4M last year. And he only has about $1.5M left in guaranteed money 2013. That's why we could cut him now and get over $6M in cap relief. Backloaded deal

Soliai at $8M is a big cap hit for a guy who only plays about 70% of defensive snaps

This offense demands guards who can block on the run, and get out to block on screens. This is needed to be able to implement the offense the way they want to. You can't run stretch plays or screen passes without

Do you really want to pay $8-9M per year (Carl Nicks got over $9M per year last season) for Levitre?

And Austin has been primarily a slot WR for Dallas over the years. He doesn't solve our need. When you look at where the vast majority of his production has come from, it is out of the slot. We need help outside.

Something that is missed by a lot of fans is that Vernon played a lot more LB as the year went on. PFF graded Vernon as the 34th ranked 4-3 DE, out of 62. Cam Wake was #1 and Jared Odrick was #59. Vernon's pass rush grade was weak, but he earned good grades in pass coverage and run stopping. Vernon was used to rush the passer just 289 times. That is about half as many times as Odrick rushed

I still believe Jennings is their top target. The leak about Wallace being the top target could just be to drive down Jennings' demands. Everything that gets leaked gets leaked for a reason. If the leak about Wallace came from Miami, you can rest assured that it's just posturing. I've been saying this all along. Why would Wallace pick Miami? We have a young QB and an inexperienced coach. We pl

He was tremendously productive in college (over 230 catches the last 3 years). He's 6'0, 205. He's known as being smart, tough, with good hands, and a very good route runner. He tied for the 2nd fastest WR at the combine. He had the 3rd

Wallace and Jennings have not been impacted in any way but what the WRs did at the combine. Not in any way at all. Wallace and Jennings can step in and be major factors in 2013. Teams that want an impact right now are still going to go the free agent route. If a team is looking to 2014 and beyond, then the draft is more the way to go. But the market for Wallace and Jennings did not change.

His overall combine performance really elevated him. He's 6'0, 205, so not real tall, but pretty sturdily built. He ran 4.34, with a 1.47 10-yard split (which is excellent), with a 37 inch vertical, and a 10'5 broad jump. Take that all in, and he has really explosive ability. He was really productive for 3 years (230+ catches). He knows our offense, several of our coaches, and has great chemistry

So, in all seriousness. KC is expected to re-sign Bowe before free agency hits. There are reports that Green Bay will franchise tag Jennings (which I don't believe), and that Philbin isn't as big a fan of Jennings as some would assume (a la Matt Flynn). And we will have plenty of competition for signing Wallace, possibly including the Patriots. That offense is screaming for a deep threat, and the

Cox was thrown at 89 times, allowing 54 completions for 670 yards, and just 1 TD. He had 4 INT and 6 passes defensed. Very solid numbers. The negatives? He missed 15 tackles (3rd most) and committed 7 penalties.
