2013 free agent cap hits

Just to give an idea on what is possible this year.

Cap hits for 2013....(45 mil cap space)

Rookies cap hit 3 mil (only top 51 count so not all rookie will be capped)
Mike Wallace 5 mil
Brian Hartline 2 mil
Randy Starks 8.5 mil (need long term to reduce)
Andy Levitre 3.5 mil
Chris Houston 5 mil
Anthony Fasano 1.75 mil
Chris Clemons 2 mil
Gosder Cherilus 5 mil
Nate Kaeding 1 mil

Total 36.75 million.

45-36.75 = 8.25 mil remaining

Next round of moves....

RELEASE...

Richie Incognito (4.3 m savings)
Dimitri Patterson (4.6 m savings)
Dan Carpenter (2.7 m savings)

8.25m + 11.6 mil = 19.85 mil

Extend the contract of Rashad Jones 2 mil
Extend the contract of Pat Devlin 1 mil
Extend the contrct of Bryan McCann 1 mil

That leaves needs at....WR, CB, RG, TE with 15.85 mil in cap space with the rookies already accounted for...

We need to save some room since cap hits will go up in 2014. We will also need to infill the rest of the roster with players like Nate Garner & Tony McDaniel, etc.

Draft these players

1 Cordarelle Patterson WR
2a Zach Ertz TE
2b Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB
3a Darius Slay CB
3b Brian Winters OG
4 DT
5 LB

Offensive weapons for 2013...

WR1 Wallace
WR2 Hartline
WR3 Cordarelle Patterson
WR4 Davone Bess
WR5 Rishard Mathews
WR6 Jeff Fuller

TE1 Zach Ertz
TE2 Anthony Fasano

Offensive line:

LT Jon Martin
LG Andy levitre
C Mike Pouncey
RG Brian Winters/Garner
RT Gosder Cherilus

leaving trade opportunities for Bess & John Jerry

This is all pretty extreme....I know. But it just shows we have lots of room to play with.

Lots of options available.

Can't wait to see how it plays out.

You have a lot of HUGE money FAs signing with minimal cap hits their first season. You know what kind of cap hell we would be in in years 2 3 and 4? That's not a smart plan we would be like the jets next season having to cut ir trade everyone

It'll be a lot smarter to make the cap hits larger in 2013, when we have the room to absorb them.

True. I was thinking that at the end but didn't want to recalculate.
