This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
According to PFF, Shelby finished 2015 as their tenth ranked 4-3 defensive end while ranking 8th versus the run and 15th rushing the passer.
From what I saw, he played very well against both the run and the pass in 2015.
Also, he just turned 27 and signed for 4 years and 18 million. We should want a guy like that on our team.

Crowder - good points. My biggest beefs are losing Miller and Shelby. Like I said, I understand losing Vernon after paying big $ for Suh. And there really is no room for Matthews on this team. Losing Matthews and Vernon were business decisions. But I hate losing a solid, reasonably price player like Shelby; and I think finding a guy to replace Miller is harder than some people think. He wa

Shelby - young solid producer...Gone
Grimes - older, past his prime stud - Gone (no issue with this move)
Miller and Shelby should have been extended before the 2015 season. We knew what we had with them and had to know that exposing them in free agency was a risk. I understan

I am skeptical of any reports that come out right; and I will be skeptical until it is announced as an official trade.
But if it does happen, I would like to find out the particulars before I hate on it too much.
It's worth pointing out that some pretty good football players grossly underachieved under Chip Kelly last year.

Not sure what's coming next; but I support not paying Grimes $8 mil. He's not worth that.
This is a good business decision.
I just hope the deals that follow are also good business decisions.

Certainly not suggesting that Wake should have left or taken a back seat when we drafted Jordan. But I also know that good pass rushers (JT, Von Miller etc) can play multiple positions. Also, depth is needed at every position. I still believe that if things went well with Jordan and we weren't in cap trouble, that we would have Jordan one side and Vernon on the other for years to come.

His lack of production against the run in this small sample size doesn't change what the long term plan was originally.

Good points, Joe. Drafting has been brutal. But it's poor cap management that is causing us to potentially lose both Miller and Vernon.
Also, IMO Jordan would be replacing Wake, not Vernon. With good cap management, you would never let a guy like Vernon walk right now. If Jordan had panned out, it would be Jordan on one side and Vernon on the other.

How is it possible for a 6-10 team to have 3 key free agents from the previous year and not be in a good position to sign any of them? Poor cap management.
I am hopeful that the new regime will make better long-term decisions, but I already disagree with one decision.
I hate the fact that Vernon is getting exposed to free agency. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to commit huge long-te

I agree. Defenses can't gang up on Vernon. If he can continue to make great progress, we will have the best one-two punch of pass rushers in the league.
Wake's numbers are down; but he missed some games and draws tons of attention from the offense. He also draws lots of penalties.
Vernon's progress is one turning point for this team.

Here we are 6-6. This game is really pivotal for the Phins in so many ways.
1. Will Philbin and company rally the troops to compete for a playoff spot? Whether we make the playoffs or not, this game will decide if we are even going to compete for a playoff spot. For all the heat Philbin has taken since the start of Bully/Baby/Idiot-Gate, he has to get some credit for keeping the team toget

Another reason Ireland needs to go.
When you trade up to take a guy at #3 overall, he had better be ready to play now and play well.
If he is a) hurt b) not ready to contribute in all facets of the game or c) both, as has been the case with Jordan, then you don't trade up to take him at #3 overall.

Why are we 4-5? Here are my top 3 reasons.
Problem 1. Offensive line. It is the most offensive offensive line I have ever seen. The pass blocking is horrendous. The run blocking may be even worse. We averaged about 5 ipc against the Buccaneers. For those wondering that is 5 INCHES per carry!!! Ridiculous. We don't have a HOF caliber RB, but these guys are good enough to average over 4

I am sure that every GM has some player that thinks they're the worst. A former 3rd string QB's opinion means about as much as mine right now. It is a very convenient time for Sage to pile on the Dolphins.

Here's my theory:
Incognito is a foul-mouthed, tough guy; but a loyal teammate. While shocking in his speech, Incognito is loved by most teammates who see him as a joker, but also a motivator. He also takes a special interest in Martin, who ironically could be a very good NFL player if he had the same mentality as Incognito. Incognito is aware of that and attempts to toughen up Martin, perh

The 47 yard FG is the message board gift that keeps on giving.
Asking a kicker to make a 47 yard FG should not shake his confidence. If anything, it should say "hey, I know you can do this". If Carpenter was shaken by that then why would we want him. Our rookie kicker isn't phased by any kick he is asked to make.

I think this argument is rather silly. We are off to a better start than anyone could have expected considering our schedule. We are also developing a young QB that is showing great potential for the future.
As of today, I would say that Philbin is one of the safest coaches in the NFL in terms of job security.
Yes, he should have run a QB sneak against the Saints. Most people make mi

The Phins are 3-1!!! They beat the Colts and the Falcons, neither of which was expected. Yes, the loss to the Saints was brutal, but the Saints will blow out a lot of teams this year.
Can we give this a few more weeks before people are screaming for Philbin's head? People were raving about him just a week ago.
On another note, Marlon Brown (Ravens rookie WR) has 3 TDs this year and

The Leon Lett game was a fun, fluky game; but I don't look back at 1993 with great football memories. Sorry, but to me 1993 was the worst Dolphins season ever. The Phins were 9-2, but lost 5 straight to end the season. They gave up 125 points over the final 3 weeks of the season.
That said, tonight is huge. A win tonight and the entire NFL and its fanbase will know that the Phins are leg
