He plays for the Panthers now, and has been getting a lot of playing time.

Not that anyone here ever really loved Ted Ginn (although I have to admit that I initially had high hopes for him); but has anyone noticed that he has TD receptions of 40+ yards in consecutive weeks? I even saw him make a nice tap-dance sideline catch this week. It seems like he has finely learned something about playing WR in the NFL.

Thanks Berkeley. I was wondering how old Jake was doing. So glad we didn't break the bank for this guy.

I don't want to see a steady diet of him running; but I would like to see him run to avoid sacks. The fact is that when you hang out in the picket for a long time you are a sitting duck for 300 pound linemen. I would rather see him hit by LBs (50 pounds less) or DBs (75 to 100 pounds less) when he leaves the pocket.

"Is this point too subtle for a lot of you to get?" "Okay, let me give you guys a simple analogy." I clearly understand what you're saying. My view is different. The factors are pressure and degree of difficulty. More kickers will make a 48 yard high-pressure kick than a 54 yard medium-pressure kick that they have to make twice. A free throw with 1 second l

Statistically speaking, far more FGs are made in the 40-49 range than in the 50-59 range. That fact leads me to think that degree of difficulty is much more of a factor than expectation.

Not saying this team is ready to win a Super Bowl, but I think about the Patsies Super Bowl wins and all of them required a great kicker.

Carpenter is 11 for 21 over 50 yards in his career. He was 2 for 5 last year. No guarantees he would have made the kick.

I apologize if someone already commented about this: On Sunday against the Colts, Sturgis lined up for a 54 yard FG. He nailed it through the uprights, but the Colts called timeout just before the ball was snapped. They wanted to "ice" Sturgis and throw off his rhythm. So Sturgis had to try the kick again. He nailed it again. 54 yards is a long kick to make twice in a row in a p

I don't think this will be an easy game at all. The Browns are much better than people think and are looking to take a big step in the standings this year. This will be a battle.

WR is not our deepest position. We are very shallow at WR.

Would we be contenders with Matt Moore at QB? No Does he have more trade value than any bench player on the team? I think so Do we desperately need help at other positions? Yes, I think WR is one. I could see o-line also; but I think it would be challenging to get an impact o-lineman in a trade.

The WR corps is dangerously thin. If we lose just one WR, we would be no better off then last year. Even with everyone healthy, we definitely need another guy that can produce. I don't think I have ever heard of a team going into the season with just 4 WRs.

After hearing that the Phins kept only 4 WRs, a lot of writers have speculated that in the next few days they will be scooping up another WR that has been cut. I have another theory. The Dolphins chances at success this year start and end with the success of the offensive line and Ryan Tannehill. If both the o-Line and Tannehill are successful then this could be a very good year. Matt Moore

The Jets might be the weakest team in the league on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think we want any part of any offensive players they cut.

Over the past 10-12 years, teams that have beaten the Pats have had strong pass rushing defensive tackles. Brady does very well dealing with edge rushers; but pressure up the middle completely destroys his confidence and decision making.

This should not have surprised anyone. The signs were clear even before we drafted Sturgis. Carpenter is a middle of the road kicker. For his career, Carpenter is 16th in FG accuracy among current NFL kickers. He was 24th last year. For his career, he hits 50% beyond 50 yards. He was 2-5 last year in kicks beyond 50 yards. Only four kickers had a lower conversion rate from beyond 50 yards in

So, Carpenter is gone. That shouldn't have surprised anyone. Carpenter's stats prove that he is just an average kicker, who was getting paid like a star. This is a good move no matter how you look at it. We save cap space and get a young guy with a big leg.

Marino wasn't great for handoffs, but he did more than his share to help keep defenses honest with his incredible deep ball and quick release. Both of those attributes more than made up for the fact that his inside handoffs were lousy. Did you ever see 8 men in the box when Marino was QB? Not often. The running game stunk during those years because 1) they never had a good RB and 2) the line

Marino had a lousy handoff on outside runs, but it probably wasn't close to 2 seconds, even if it seemed like it was. Handoffs on inside runs didn't take as long. He also did a lot of pitches on outside runs, and those were fine. I would guess that he did more pitches than handoffs on outside runs.

It always kills me to look back at the list of "leading rushers" the Dolphins had while Marino was here. During Marino's tenure, we had one RB hit 1000 yards. One!!! That one was the legendary Karim Abdul-Jabar in 1996. His yards per carry that season? A whopping 3.6 ypc. In fact, only 5 times during Marino's career did we have a RB that averaged 4 ypc. 1994 Bernie Parmalee

A very small number of Miami players are worth drafting every year: 2012: Bush 2011: Bush and Marshall 2010: Maybe Marshall 2009: Ricky 2008: Maybe Brown 2006-2007: Nothing 2005: Chambers 2004: Nothing 2002 and 2003: Ricky 2001: Nothing 2000: Lamar Smith Even the late 90's were slim. Marino's last great fantasy year was 94.
