Tannehill is on pace for 4,410 yards, 21 TD's and 10 int's. He's completing 66.4% of his passes.

The kid has stepped his game up BIG TIME -- and unless the first 3 weeks are a ruse -- he's definitely on his way to being a top 5 QB IMO.

As far as running -- I agree -- but I am also 100% convinced the strategy with this kid is to make him effective in the pocket FIRST and then he can use his feet when and if necessary.

Compare that against the way Kaepernick has been handled... He's obviously EXPOSED when he's being asked to win the game in the pocket. I wrote about his "game" a few weeks ago and Thill is already a superior "legit" NFL QB.

Also, look at RGIII -- who I've said all along is vastly overrated and NOT the QB talent -- in the traditional sense -- that Thill is. Ryan demonstrates the superior release, arm, accuracy, and most important -- understanding of the D coupled with the ability to diversify his game and make ALL the throws.

I've been very impressed by some of the amazingly tight windows that Thill can thread -- I mean the kid is making some throws only 2 or 3 in the league can make.

Great win.

I always knew RG 3 was going to end up injured. I never liked running QBs...

I didnt want the real deal running and its looking ok so far. I rather him take the sacks and not risk injury running.

Although i would really like for him to develop some awareness and movement in the pocket so that he doesnt have to take those shots.

He took some hard hits against the falcons and needs to avoid those. Especially the one from the blind side.

I don't want to see a steady diet of him running; but I would like to see him run to avoid sacks.

The fact is that when you hang out in the picket for a long time you are a sitting duck for 300 pound linemen. I would rather see him hit by LBs (50 pounds less) or DBs (75 to 100 pounds less) when he leaves the pocket.

Tanne lacks pocket awarenes badly. That comes from not playing the position long. We will have to wait for that to come, other than that he is coming alone fine. Tannehill imho is still below rgIII in my book. Saying that RGIII is his own worst enemy. The guy has accuracy that I have never seen the likes of. With that he would rather punch his ticket w/ his legs. The guy should learn to be a pocket passer and use his arm. He is his own worst enemy.

I thought RT did a much better job of pocket awareness this week... I noticed a significant difference in how well he stepped up in the pocket this week.. He would set on his initial drop and then about a second maybe 2 seconds later he would step up and re plant his feet.. It helped a lot... The sacks I saw were not so much on RT and his pocket awareness IMO..

He had a couple of throws that his WRs' did a good job of breaking up passes that could have been picked... WHich should give him even more confidence in his WRs...

But his drive at the end of the game when it counted was huge...

My main knock from last week would be the small hands issue... He needs to hold on or protect the ball a little better... 5 fumbles in 2 weeks is not a good stat...

What really impressed me was by the stats we probably should have lost that game..

Atlanta first downs 24
Miami first downs 16

Atlanta total plays 68
Miami total plays 55

Atlanta time of possession 37:09
Miami time of possession 22:51

Turn over battle was a tie with 2 a piece

Normally it is hard to win football games with time of possession so lopsided... But when it counted we got it done... IMO, our offense is playing much better this year in the second half and 4th QT. WHich has lead us to scoring a lot more points on avg then last year.... If we score 27 pts, we are hard to beat.... No matter the rest of the stats...

Add to that, our points total over three games has gradually gone up, 23-24-27 even though the toughness of our opponents has gone up as well.

That is a nice trend. We still have the 27th ranked offense (yard per game) in the league. Got to get the running game going. The important part (scoring)...we are ranked 11th.

Weird season so far.

I think we scored 23 in the first game... Our pt per game avg is 24.7 after 3 weeks..

Another weird set of stat,

Miami 55 First downs 958 yards 9 sacks
Opponents 67 first downs 1116 yards 14 sacks

We lose the time of possession battle on avg as well by about 3 mins

The 3 stats we win, TD's, turnovers +2, and points/wins...

As I have said, my only complaint with Tanny's evolution is that he still needs to NOT hold the ball at belly button level when scanning the field for an open receiver. Twice it has been tomahawked out of his hand.

It doesn't surprise me we are still struggling on Offense a bit, we have a new starting RB, FB, 2 - O-lineman (counting Martin at LT not RT), TE and 2 WR's, that's 7 new starters on Offense. What does surprise me is that our offense looks better than last year, this team could be scary in a month or so.

Yes BNF, it is real, there are 26 other offenses that have more total yards then us after 3 weeks... But only ten that have scored more pts during the same time span... we arent consistent but have been making the most of our scoring opportunities....

Yes I was just thinking about that. Hopefully the preseason o-line shake-up is a big reason for the decline. it takes time for a line to play as one unit and they did not practice together until very late. We had Samuda all over the place as well as Dallas Thomas.

and BNF...I never said there were 26 offenses better than us.... I implied it was odd that we were so low in yards (27th) but tops in scoring. Once we start getting some consistency we are going to be scary! Tannethrill would have been perfect on the final drive if not for 3 drops. One by Miller, one by Clay and one by Gibson . He was 9/12 for 69 & 1 td.

I also have a feeling Sherman is holding some cards up his sleeve in regards to Wallace. We have seen no deep passes to him but you can bet they are in the playbook. We may not see them unless we get way behind NOLA but he may be saving them for division games.
