was benched after giving up 2 sacks yesterday for rams. something like 14 QB hurries on the years. He's playing worse than Martin. Maybe BNF was right all along

That's too bad, even though it's a relief we made the right decision. I would have liked to keep Long (at a hometown, I-know-I-can't-finish-a-game discount). Throw him in on certain passing downs etc.
I wish the same for Long as I do for Bess: Have some great games, but not against us...play great, do well, but don't make the playoffs.

yeah you're right about that. But he was solid for a good few years here. I guess Long didn't fit into our plans to not-overpay-for-a-chronically-injured player.
It was Big Pharma dude. It's that obvious. Get it?
LOL.
Beyond that -- I'm not a stat dweeb. And soLong was NEVER the best all-around OT in the game IMO. For a year or 2 he was pretty dominant in the run game. OK. But -- his pass pro was always sloppy and he'd get abused by fast twitch athletes.
I'd take Ryan Clady but now he's got a blown wheel...

I have no warm fuzzy feeling for Long. He was paid as the highest paid OL in the league from day 1. Then injuries and his play fell off dramtically and we still offered him a very very generous deal. But it wasn't good enough for Jake, who wanted to be paid like the #1 OL even though he was far from that. So he left for StL for a bit more money, and it is looking like a very good thing he did. StL OL is a mess and Long is a major reason why. Ours is a mess too but at least we didn't overpay for our mess (we are paying Martin pennies compared to Jake for better play).

Anyone who still holds an irrational animosity toward someone based on which side of the Mason-Dixie line they're from, is a total A-hole!
Come on man!!! Join us in the 21st century. People who think like that are a drag on the advancement of humanity.

Obviously you take this shit way too serious dude.
I live here (as a Floridian in exile) and there's like zero wicked issue with my (Masshole) sarcasm.
Maybe you need to go do a ego check before mommy puts you bed time.
You would be so lucky to be able to THINK remotely like me!

Long (and his agent) felt he was better than he really was. No way, with his history over the three previous years, does Miami pay him what he was asking. The Rams were stupid. Don't really know why they expected him to revert back to his Pro Bowl form.
You see, I was born in Miami, and grew up in northern FL in the mid 70s where the N-word and "yankees" were always used as a derogatory term. Also lived in VA a few years before moving to CA, where the stars and bars still flew strong, and the animosity toward the north, and people of color, was very prevalent.
Apology aside, I've read many of your posts over the years, and I must say, you're no rocket surgeon when it comes to football intellect. Actually, you've posted some of the most unenlightened, clueless posts I've ever read on this board.
Correct. BNF is more of a word proctologist (metaphorically inclined) than a pure semantical experimentalist (foot and hand guns excluded). I'm sorry to hear about your traumatic childhood and being born in general. It's a condition many like you suffer from.
Beyond that. Fight ON! This ain't not Ladies and gentleman brothel. It's a darn nasty footie ball free for all!
