Actually, the jets (ugh ) have the division win, against the Bills last week. That would put them first and the Bills last, with New England and Miami at 0-0 in the division. That tie would get broken by conference record, wit

I'm not old enough to remember the 1945 incident, but I do remember reading about it. My recollection of the story was that it was a very foggy day; I don't know if air traffic control played a role or not. I'm not sure what the state of air traffic control was back then. I doubt very much this incident served as any inspiration for the events of 9-11, given that apparently so few people rem

Rypien didn't start as a rookie. He was drafted by the Redskins in 1986 and spent his first two seasons on IR. Also, Bart Starr started one game as a rookie, pre-Lombardi. IMHO that list would be more meaningful if it didn't include the QB's whose rookie season was with a team other than the one they won the Super Bowl with. That would take out Dawson, Plunkett, Williams, Young, and Dilfer.

More proof that you don't need qualifications or ability of any kind to write a blog: "The Dolphins will stage a three-way quarterback competition and there’s a chance neither player -- Matt Moore, David Garrard or Ryan Tannehill -- is the answer." You can't use the word "neither" when you're talking about more than two choices!

I bet it's a strategic decision. He was with the division-rival Patriots. So it's one of those deals where he can give the Dolphins valuable information 'cause he knows the Patriots' playbook, right? Except that's why he got cut in the first place -- 'CAUSE HE DOESN'T!!

There seems to be a little more going on here. According to the article, prosecutors charged that not only did Webster have sex with the girl when she was 15, he also threatened to harm her if she told anyone about it. If true, something ain't right with that.

I think the real issue here is that Matthews, despite his "eagerness to show what he can do", clearly does not have the overwhelming passion for football that players need to compete at the NFL level. If he did have it, then when his dad told him he wouldn't be allowed to play high school football, Matthews would have told that Marine Corps master sergeant, and presumably bread-winner

Well to be fair, except for maybe two or three seasons during Marino's career, any attempt at a fake handoff was going to be followed by the opposing defense collapsing in hysterics. "Really? You expect us to believe you have some sort of running game over there? Are you SERIOUS??" (OK, that's an exaggeration. But not much of one.)

Actually, Woodley started a couple more games after that Raiders game. It wasn't until he was god-awful against the Saints in the fifth game (a loss), and Marino came in and threw another TD pass toward the end, that Shula started Marino against Buffalo in the sixth game.

Reportedly a four AND a six to Denver for Tebow. Denver also threw in a seventh-round pick. TWO picks for Tebow?? Not that I'll ever get the chance but -- Jesus, remind me never to play poker with John Elway.

Back in 1986, the Indianapolis Colts began the season 0-13, and then (after changing coaches) won their last three games, in the process losing the #1 draft pick to the 2-14 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Except for the changing coaches part, it looks like the Colts could pull it off again, as they take their two-game win streak into Sunday's game against the god-awful Jaguars, while the 2-13 Rams host a

Born in Philly, grew up about an hour from there, now in Upstate NY. Followed the Dolphins since '72, when I was really too young to understand what a big deal an undefeated season was.

At least once, the 1999 draft, which saw Tim Couch go first to the Browns, Donovan McNabb go second to the Eagles, and Akili Smith go third to the Bengals. Caveat: Couch turned out to be a bust, and Smith was even worse.
