I don't know.... if Manning signs with us...we are making a run. Do you use the 8th overall pick to grab Tannehill? Or do you use it to add a playmaker to the 'win-now' roster? If he slips to the 2nd round or 3rd then yes. But If we sign Peyton....it is a 2 year stab. Moore doesn't suck...he isn't the franchise QB we want....but he will be part of the plan. They will likely acquire someone

Ireland said he wants guys that fit the prototype and are athletes...who doesn't. I agree that West Coast requires different blocking schemes....but zone blocking requires quick athletic guys too. So the reality is.... Everyone os looking for the same thing. Big, strong, athletic, smart..."gonna need more steroids!!"

Smoke screen. If Ireland and Philbin are stupid enough to divulge their gameplan to the world....they both need to be fired. Ireland was groomed by Parcells. While he may be more media friendly...I doubt that he has forgotten how to conceal his true thoughts.

Reggie Nelson didn't turn out to be quite the impact player that he was promoted as...but...he is a clear upgrade over our guys. Wallace would be a great acquisition! I would be down with that.

Actually we a have $15 Million in CAP space without making any cuts. With the way contracts are pro-rated, we could sign 2 big contracts.

Yeah, I don't want us to spend too much on WR either. Wouldn't it be great if they can find (or develop from within) our own Victor Cruz, Patrick Crayton, Vincent Jackson undrafted/low pick low salary guy. Roberto Wallace is a big, fast ( 4.4) guy who just started playing football in his last year of high school. It would great if he had a break out season finally using his athleticism and siz

If we keep Vernon Carey at RG...then upgrading Columbo will be easy. That; however, may be done by promoting someone on the depth chart...but we always run into injury issues. I am not married to the Vincent Jackson signing...but...we do need a TRUE #1 WR to pair with Marshall. Gates has the speed, Wallace has speed and size...but neither are a #1 WR. Vincent Jackson has 4.5 speed, solid han

If Mario Williams is available? Jump on that. He would be my top priority. I didn't expect him to be available...but after a little reading...the Texans are in a jam to sign Williams and Foster. WR? we don't need an elite #1...we need a 'legit #1' someone with sub 4.5 speed and hands. Put that on the field with Marshall, Bess, and an upgrade at TE and we have a dramatically improved WR corp.

I am going to set the QB issue aside. IMO, they have a plan to either: a) trade up for Griffin - which makes the rest of the draft a moot point. b)sign Flynn to a performance based contract to compete with Moore c) sign Manning and back up with Moore and .... d) stick with Moore. So with that set aside.... We sign a free agent WR (Vincent Jackson) and OL ( RT) Round 1 DE -Qu

1- Bill Belicheat 2- Tom Brady 3- not an opponent...but AFC East......Tom Olivadotti - he pissed away Marino's glory years. 4 - same as above Dave Wannestache 5- the 90's Bills this may come across as glib and flipant....but honestly....Tom Olivadotti and Dave Wannestedt hurt us more than the Bills of the 90's, and more than the Jets. We could have overcome our AFC EAST opponents if t

Actually, it is the opposite. It came from the word 'to meet', suggesting a point that can be debated in so many ways that there is no way to come to a consensus, and is therefore not worth debating. The 'not worth debating' is the part that stuck as it was applied to 'it doesn't matter anymore.'

Stop being rational. Some people want us to cut everyone that doesn't fit the mould of Clark Kent. We should cut every player who runs his mouth, shifts blame, drops balls, has errant throws, misses tackles, gets beat by a WR. Irrespective of their production! Who cares if they have a bunch of INT's for TD...if they miss tackles ? We want consistent, nice guys. We won't win Superbowls...b

Agreed. I am ok with Philbin and Sherman and Coyle being...'experienced'...but when you get to the positional coaches I think you gotta bring in guys who played under similar rules, similar expectations, techniques and..... you know ......didn't wear leather helmets when they played. How about Chad Pennington? Maybe it's too soon for him. Gus Frerrotte? Scott Mitchell?

Different people are motivated by different things. Jackson came into the league, got a mediocre contract in keeping with his status. He worked hard, and outplayed his contract. It happens. A lot. Some teams extend and give bonuses, others say...this is a business...play out your deal. He was immature and took the 'business' side personally and let it eat away at him. I don't approve of

Welcome aboard. Agreed, they are going to give Philbin time to build this. Ireland did a good enough job to earn Ross's trust to keep him over Fischer....but had Cowher or Gruden decided that they wanted to be the Coach and GM...ireland would be looking for a job. So with that in mind....Ross very well may have hire Philbin, thinking that Ireland may be the one that gets replaced 2-3 years

Drew Brees was on the board when we drafted. I was watching. Waiting for the pick to be announced. They passed on Brees and picked....Jamar Fletcher. ARGH!!!! I think Desean Jackson became a bigger distraction because the Eagles weren't paying him what he was worth And they weren't talking negotiations. When they rolled out the Brinks van for Vick, and they signed Young to a $4million contr

I think Wes Welker is an awesome slot receiver. he may even be the best slot receiver in the NFL. That said, Devone Bess is a very close 2nd. I am not interested in spending big money to see Which guy is the better slot. Welker is not a speedster. Neither is Bess. Neither is Marsall. Nor Hartline. So if we are going to spend money on a WR....it needs to be a speedster that has proven

let's see. there was the year they were lucky to get to the SB with the tuck rule. the year where they got in because Jay Fiedler couldn't hit a wide open WR to move the chains and kill the clock the year of the phantom Pass interference. The FACT that they videotaped the Steelers and the Rams The 'allegation' that they had their DL wearing Microphones so they could pick up audible

Wow, this thread has been healthy. Get out some of that bad shit stuck in there. I don't know about you...but...even if the Patriots continue to do well because of stockpiled picks....I will be happy to see an end of the Brady era....and am so happy that I can slap that asterisk on everything he and Belicheat accomplished.

Well...keep in mind...they got there because Lee Evans didn't secure the ball and.... because the Patriot scoreboard operator kept the down indicator one down behind ( I call that cheating) and the kicker and ST coach didn't realize what down it was and rushed the whole thing. sure the kicker could have called a time-out...but he was probably thinking oh crap! I am a dead man. evidence that

the NFL destryoed the tapes....so no-one knows for sure how much the cheating contributed to the Belicheat/Brady Superbowls wins(*) But losing in the Superbowl....again....sure makes it look like they can't win the big game without cheating. The facts are....they routinely video taped opponents to steal info ( aka. cheated)....and they won the SB 3 times prior to being caught....and they ha

He was on the practice squad....the other guy likely told his family and friends to watch...maybe flew his parents in...got all excited. He was on the roster that got them there. Sure the other guy is happy...but you don't do that to a guy. I doubt the extra defensive lineman who hasn't played a snap yet is going to be the difference maker. Prick move.

I can't believe he would cut a guy the day before the Superbowl. What a prick!! Is there anyone more cold-hearted than him? I hope this brings him bad karma and the lose in a way that haunts him. I hope they lose and everyone points out that he can't win the Superbowl without cheating!

Keeping Manning active was so they could 'Suck for Luck' . If you put Manning on IR you gotta sign another Qb.. and he just might go and win you some games. Manning active...gives the plausible appearance of 'really hoping to get your starter back so you can win games'...which was BS all season long.

They are stuck. they owe him $28 million before the season starts and before the draft. they can't trade him until the season starts...ie. until AFTER they give him $28 Mill. Nobody is trading for a 36 yr old Qb who just had 2 neck surgeries and comes with a $28 million tag. He won't work out for them because he it removes any leverage he has. Obviously he will be better in May than in Janu

The other thing History tells us ..... great drafting makes average coaches look great. Parcell's was not so hot without a full roster of stars, Shottenheimer...same deal, Shannahan..average. yes the coach has to use the right system to the talent he has...but he also needs the players. To that extent...Ireland did a good job last year. the best draft we have had in years. Another one or
