Four hours until game time... and I don't have any feel for what might happen. I'm either going to go to bed tonight totally bummed or stay up late to watch the replays on every sports channel there is. Any words of encouragement about why we're going to win? What's the feeling out there?

Not much to be learned in an exhibition game. No defensive coordinator is going to show much of his hand at this stage. If and when he gets into a real game, we shall see how he fares. He clearly has physical tools for the position. Physical tools alone, however, don't get it done in the NFL.

Bad move drafting Thomas? Already? Let's at least watch him run a few times in the regular season before we decide that the kid is a bust.

I'm not saying that its the right move for this franchise... but it's hard to argue that Garrard wouldn't be an upgrade over Henne or Moore. Last year he threw 25 TDs, had 15 INTs, and posted a slightly better than 90 QB rating. Additionally, he's a threat with his legs which might come in handy with the human turnstile we have playing right tackle. It all really comes down to how much faith d

If this had happened weeks ago... do you think Mia would have had any interest? At this late date, I would be surprised if he's on Ireland's radar... I think...

I agree. Ultimately, the best thing to happen to the offense was addition by subtraction. Henning might have been a great coordinator in the 70s and maybe 80s. The game has evolved and quite plainly, last year his playcalling stunk. Daboll might not have been everyone's first choice, but it's hard to conceive he will be worse than Henning. I just look at how much better the defense got when M

I think this is much ado about nothing. Kory Sheets hadn't shown much and was cut. No big deal. Johnson is signed for peanuts and if he shows something, he sticks. It's more likely that the guy is spent and never makes it to game 1. I can't see anything more to it.

Mike and Mike are buffoons. The defense this year should by all accounts be better. Kevin Burnett appears to be a huge upgrade over Crowder. Burnett is very active and always seems to be around the ball. Most of the time, the only way I knew Crowder was in the line-up was the occasional 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalties he was typically good for each game. Plus, Burnett should make Dans

You misinterpret my opinion. I'm in no way defending Henne. I don't believe that he is our answer at QB. Whether he's the best option given the QBs that are on this roster, this year... that question has yet to be answered. I was as angry as anyone when Ireland chose to do nothing about improving the QB position (something he had said he would do). Whether Crowder was right or wrong in his st

That's only true if the burglar is the only one that knows about the deadly virus. Truth be known, Henne's inconsistency is obvious to anyone that has seen him play. I doubt that Crowder's statements are going to make one iota's bit of difference to whom starts and how Sparano handles the QB situation now or in the future. The only thing that the comment accomplished is to get Crowder's name so

I don't know, I guess I just like the way Zach walked away versus how Crowder did it. Zach had every right to be mad at how he was ushered out of the door of a franchise that he gave his all to (to the detriment of his health). Zach Thomas was, is, and always will be a class act. No aspersions cast at any of his ex-teammates. He said he couldn't sign with the pats because he would always consi

It's a shame he can't be remembered more for his football accomplishments than taking cheap shots at ex-teammates.

You guys have missed the point of my post. I don't deny that Crowder is accurate in his comments. I question the propriety of him making them. What was his purpose? Would Chad Pennington make these type of comments? I would guess he knows more about the QB position than Crowder. Plus, he's a media guy now, but I'll bet that he will take the high road when making commentary about his ex-teammat

“He hasn’t really proven anything to me while I played with him and now being on the other side, looking down as a fan, he’s not impressing me, either,” Crowder said.
Okay. I'm no Chad Henne apologist. Far from it. I have serious doubts whether Henne will ever be a starting caliber NFL QB. However, it's funny coming from a player that was far from an elite talent himself. Crowder ne

I thought it was his shoulder as well. Again, I don't know how authoritative this tweet was. Some players you can weather the blow of going to your second string. Going from Long to Murtha would be like going from Manny Pacquiao to Steve Urkel. I'm just hoping that he'll be ready come the beginning of the season. Jake not Urkel.

I saw the following tweet:
"BenVolinPBP Watching practice with the great @rosstuckernfl, and he points out that Jake Long's left knee definitely does not look right."
I was under the impression that Jake was okay but was being held out as a precaution. Not sure how authoritative this tweet is but I'm holding my breath that Jake will be good to go against the pats. Anyone heard

There's only one sane reason that Ireland could have had to not draft a QB this year... his belief that there are better draft options at QB next year.. ie Luck, Barkley, Landry Jones, etc... Honestly, I wouldn't have wanted to trade up to get Gabbert. Mallet in the third might have been a decent move, but who knows. At this point, however, I think our success will be more predicated on the off
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
You might be right. Henne is a perplexing player. On the one hand he will make the occasional brilliant throw. Then, he'll throw a brainless interception at the worst time in the game. I was watching the game he played two years ago against the jets on MNF and was amazed at how poised he was, and how accurate. The latter part of last year, quite plainly, he stunk. I do know that this needs to

I'm certainly not saying that Orton would've been the answer at QB because there's a reason that Denver would prefer Tebow over Orton. It is, however, interesting that Ireland is taking the safe approach in not giving away draft picks for what some might perceive to be a fairly discernible upgrade at the most important position on the team. If this team goes 7-9 or worse, I doubt that Ireland wil
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
If Matt Moore is in reality signed, then we are likely looking at a player who is probably no better than Henne. Although I never believed that Orton was a true franchise QB, he would've made us better, I think, by playing competently and most importantly, by not turning the ball over. It's possible that there really were no other options, but it's still disappointing. Hey maybe Pat Devlin will

Okay. I started the thread and stayed out of the fray when it got a bit confrontational, but when someone says that they'd rather have Carl Peterson as GM over anybody... I have to throw in my 2 cents. Carl Peterson was an unmitigated disaster in KC. You've heard about the man with the golden touch, well when Peterson touches something, it turns to a substance that in my neighborhood you're re

I guess the question is whether you'd rather have Cowher making the decisions, or Ireland, Sparano, with a dash of Carl Peterson thrown in. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Sparano... but if you're asking me whether I think we'd be better off with Bill Cowher, I think its a no brainer.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Quite frankly, I wasn't sold on Harbaugh anyway. He's a college coach whose had less success at this level than such epic NFL failures as Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban. Maybe he'll be a great NFL coach but its hard to gauge that based on essentially one season. Harbaugh was at best a crap shoot. Cowher was the safer and better choice. Ross should have done whatever was necessary to bring Cowh

To be outclassed by the bills at home while the game has some meaning to you and none to them is disgraceful. Henning HAS TO GO. Lots of major changes needed to offense and to a lesser extent to the defense.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I'm not a big fan of Gruden. He won in TB with the defense that Tony Dungy built. I'd rather coax Dungy out of retirement (I know that won't happen). I'm thinking Gruden ends up in San Fran particularly if the Cowboys keep winning under Garrett.

And I'm paraphrasing... something to the effect of, it's not life or death...I'll just go back to the film and see what I did wrong... etc... Now, I know that it's a game... and it's not life or death... but it bothers me that I'm more pissed about the performance than our QB. I have not been a Henne hater... and I've defended him for the most part... but show me that you care about this team.
