As in the Beau Knows commercials, Sparan-knows field goals.

Yes, I hadn't thought about his salary as an impediment. I guess I knew that we were to some degree rebuilding, just not to this extent. Hey, maybe they're right and this is the best way to change the culture of losing. Nothing else has worked.

TreasureCoast, I have to tell you, that clip of Sparano fist pumping after a FG is priceless. One thing I was wondering about, however,is that since most OCs are in the coaches' booth upstairs, how will Sparano perform the FG fist pump in such limited quarters? I wouldn't want to be sitting next to him when that happens.

Ireland can say what he wants, but this team is in full rebuilding mode. I wouldn't be shocked if there are other trades looming ahead. If I was guessing, I could see Dansby maybe shopped because I can't imagine Philbin is pleased with his constant griping not to mention the fact that he is far from being the best LB in the NFL (as he proclaimed last year). I don't know how I feel about rebuildi

This surprises me a little. Not so much because of his receiving skills (or lack thereof) but because I know he was a pretty good special teams guy. 7-ll still hanging in there. lol

Are we really calling Martin a bust after 3 preseason games? I'll admit the team looks lousy and the Vontae Davis trade further points out that the team is in full rebuilding mode, but to call out a rookie tackle who hasn't played right tackle since high school for some subpar preseason performances is a bit of an overreaction, don't you think?

I agree that Dansby needs to stop flapping his gums and concentrate on playing his position better (the one that he stated he was the best in the league at). Judging from the first team defense's performance against TB, the last thing on Dansby's mind should be whether Johnson deserved to be cut or not. Hey, Karlos, why don't you try and figure out how you guys let Dan Orlovsky (wikipedia him if

The biggest difference between Chad in NE and Chad in Miami, is that NE gave up two draft picks for him, and Miami is paying him the veteran minimum. If he can't learn the system, he gets cut. We might as well be discussing Julius Pruitt or Marlon Moore. I think this is the proverbial no-brainer. He's either good or he's gone.

If Ryan Tannehill = Chad Henne.. does that mean that Chad Henne could have played wide receiver? Hmm... not seeing it.

I can't see Ireland trading up from #8 to take Tannehill. Not his style to give away a bunch of picks. But, I could see him taking Tannehill at #8 or I could see him drafting a pass rusher with the pick. So, which of the following two scenarios would put him in the bigger doghouse with Ross? 1. He passes on Tannehill at #8, and Tannehill goes on to outperform Luck and/or Griffin and/or bec

Truth, an amazing post. Incisive, well thought out, and logical. What are you doing on this board? All kidding aside, couldn't have said it better myself.

Anyone that "leaves" being a fan, wasn't a fan to begin with. I'm not surprised at how much of a beating Ireland and Ross are getting. The media is in the business of making stories as much as reporting them. We didn't sign Manning or Flynn ergo they didn't want to come here. Manning must have loved SF, Tenn., Wash., and the jets, but chose not to sign there. But he hated the Dolphins

As I understand it, Ireland was against drafting Pat White. I thought Ireland's draft last year was decent. I'll reserve judgment until after this year's draft. If he has another decent draft, maybe the problem was Parcells after all.

Assuming that Ireland and Philbin aren't completely insane (something that judging by the posts here most won't grant me), I have to believe that they thought the QB options in the draft had a bigger upside than Flynn. Tannehill, Weeden, Coleman, Cousins, etc. I really doubt that we sign Alex Smith who will certainly want more money than Flynn got. I can't see signing Garrard either (unless its t

Well, if we have to replace him, at least this year's draft is deep with wide receivers.

If Manning is going to make his decision based upon which city's media he likes best, maybe in addition to his neck injury he's also dealing with a brain injury. His only two concerns should be (since he'll make a ton of money regardless of where he goes) where he has the best chance for a ring and where he'll be most comfortable physically. Cold weather cities with no dome make little sense. H

First of all, I know that picking a head coach is a bit of a crap shoot, but with that said, what exactly does McCoy bring to the table that is outstanding? His coaching career has been at best average. I'll give him a pass for last year because he was handed a strange situation with Tebow. Also, I understand that we're not privy to the interviews, but still can anyone help me understand what Ros

Could be worse. We could have hired Mularkey or be the jets whose players are pointing fingers and are saddled with the Sanchize. Tampa Bay has owners who won't spend any money (at least Ross is willing to do that). Picking a head coach is 20% doing your due diligence and 80% blind s**t house luck. McCarthy with GB was not a can't miss coaching prospect when hired. Saban was. Nobody knows ho

You know, I've heard this crap from so many different sources. Who exactly has turned down the coaching job other than Fisher? Cowher isn't coaching anyone, so how is that a rebuff of the Dolphins. Same thing with Gruden. Does that mean Cowher and Gruden turned down every team that are looking to hire a new coach? Plus, if you take the newspapers at their word (and I don't necessarily), Fisher wo

I'm glad we didn't get Fisher because his coaching career has been incredibly average. Seventeen years with Hous/Tenn. and he had one lone and losing Superbowl appearance. If we were looking for someone with head coaching experience, better overall record, and a Superbowl win, we could call Brian Billick. I'm not sure I understood the fascination with a coach who is hardly Hall of Fame material.

What bothers me is that Ross and Ireland would even consider interviewing Mularky. Honestly, if we're going to interview failures, why stop there? Let's interview Wade Phillips or Rod Marinelli, and I guess Raheem Morris is available...Jack De Rio anyone? If you're trying to establish good will between the front office and the fans, why on earth would you interview a guy who the fans hated whe

If Ross thinks that hiring Mularky as head coach will sell tickets, he's smoking the same wacky weed that got Ricky suspended. If you're going to go with a coordinator, at least lets hire one that didn't get fired by Buffalo.

I don't see Fisher signing with us. Just a hunch. Honestly, picking a coach is such a crap shoot anyway. Who really thought Mike McCarthy was going to be so good in GB. Yet everyone thought Jimmy Johnson was going to take us to a Superbowl (myself included). Most thought that Saban was can't miss. Hell, didn't we interview and pass on Tomlin and nobody thought we made a mistake because nobody

As long as they draft a QB in the first round, I don't care who is in the front office. Trade up to get RGIII or Barkley. If they don't solve the QB problem, no one will succeed here.

It's all academic, any chance (slight that it was) of Sparano being retained just went out the window with today's loss. The better question is who does Ross hire to replace him. There are going to be lots of other teams competing for the pool of possible replacements (S.D., Tampa, Jacks, S.L. and maybe even Phil. to name just a few). Whatever anyone thinks of Sparano, change is coming to Miami-

Where I think there is evidence of "tanking" is in the fact that when it became clear that Manning would be out, and that Kerry Collins was useless... they failed to look for a QB that would be at least serviceable. When we lost Pennington, we traded for Thigpen. The Colts could have traded for someone like a Thigpen who would have been appreciably better than Painter. I think that by
