very well said! I like the idea of giving other backs a chance to run the ball. I would like to see more spread formations and let Tannehill practice his reads, timing throws, and blitz adjustments. I would also say let him audible again. But as we've all said...devise a game plan designed to win...just with more of the roster involved.

True but... In the pros...coaches stick with guys that they went out on a limb for...so they don't have to say they were wrong. ...Joey Porter refused to leave the field so Cameron Wake could get the playing time he earned...and the coaches allowed it. ...Philbin sat Bush for the fumble and gave playing time to the next guy on the depth chart. So...if Fasano is playing 'alright', but

I don't want the Head Coach to make public statements that will cause people to lose faith. he can't say...yes we are using the next 3 games as developmental games. That said, he is already getting Miller in the game plan. Rashard Matthews and Moore are getting more looks. I hope they activate Egnew, but they will spin it that he worked hard in practice and earned the playing time. I don

Agreed! The only thing I would challenge is the number of playmakers we need. For example...what if we had Calvin Johnson? 1 guy. That changes the game enough that the defensive adjustments alone improves our run game. Calvin Johnson, Hartline, Bess, and Bush on the same field? Our TE is now open...appearing to have miraculously 'improved'. I think we need 3 playmakers to be a play-of

That is a valid question. If he stopped at the 1, they would not have spotted it there....so why does it advance once possessed? Should be where possession occurs. Then again...teams might try to dribble...juggle to the 1. So the rules are there for some scenario that actually could happen.

The ball is not 'dead' just because the licking team touches it. the returning team still has the opportunity to take advantage of a mistake by the kicking team. For example the returner gets out of the way...the ball is likely going to bounce inside the 5 and go into the endzone and multiple member of the kicking team attempt to prevent the touchback...and one of them plays the ball off the

Anybody who thinks they can accurately evaluate a rookie QB who lacks a legit #1 WR, who has a Left Tackle that is experiencing lingering injury induced decline, and is working with a system that is new to the majority of his cast.....knows little about football. It is too early to render a final verdict on Tannehill. But for a guy that played WR for 2 of his 4 years in college? he shows pr

I totally understand doing that while there is a point to the season. At this point....the only point to this last 4 games? Develop and Evaluate for next year. I am sure they can afford to activate him despite his non-ST status. It might strain things a little, but IMO...getting the kid in the game during regular season is crucial for his development. They sent the message in camp...they

I will be rooting for us to win each game..... but... I would be giving playing time to rookies, and guys we might sign but don't have enough info on. I would activate Egnew and get him some game time so when training camp comes next year he has tasted NFL regular season conditions. If someone is not in the plans to be a Phin next year...? why keep him on the field the same amount of

Exactly.....do you trade up to draft the best LT in the draft when you don't know whether he is an upgrade, downgrade, or exactly the same? no you don't.

But...as you point out...not easy to replace. We either have to sign Jake Long to a MARKET VALUE contract or we have to sign /draft someone else. Cheapest option is to move Martin to LT and sign/draft a RT. Not a fan of this option. I think Long is the best available LT....unless we want to trade up and draft Luke Joeckel....who may be just as good...or better...or not quite as good.

Agreed, we have been hurt by mobile QB's. Luck, Locker, Fitzpatrick all scrambled to convert 3rd downs...Brady is less likely to do so. get to Brady early and he gets frustrated. The Pats D is weak...they are 27th overall. We have a real chance.

The locker room issue is an interesting one. I agree that you want every player to be a 'team first' guy who is the consummate locker room leader. BUT....what if the problem is with the coaching? What effect does that have on players in the locker room? Is it possible that he is wound too tight and doesn't handle failure well? Some of the best players I have ever coached were complete A$

ah...sorry...I thought you mis-read me. Marshall is going to blow sunshine on his guy....I don't think Cutler is elite...but for Marshall...he just may be the one QB he connects with.

Marshall is the 3rd leading WR in receptions, 5th in yards, and is tied for 2nd in TD's. Trading him away is a mistake unless you use what you got to replace what you gave up. So far....I think it was a mistake. What have we gained? Would Tannehill really be delayed in his development by having Marshall on the field? Cutler seems to know how to use him. All that said....if Ireland g

Agreed....If he was trying to bat the ball he would have gone for maximum height and would not have landed on Tannehill. Thomas launched himself at Tannehill hoping to get the ball but ensuring Tanny wasn't getting a clean throw. The second he left his feet he relinquished the ability to prevent his illegal hit. Next time keep on your feet or jump straight up!

When the opponent is punting past their own 40 Bess is the fair catch guy. when opponents punt behind their 40 Thigpen is the guy. There may be times (conditions/punter) where they do something different but this has been the formula all season. Thigpen hasn't 'muffed ' punts....but he has mis-played sideline punts...which is an ok risk at you 15 or 20...but inside you 10. I'm ok with it.

I know TE was discussed in a couple threads...but I thought I would start a fresh one. The TE position is one that is tied more closely to the production of other units than probably any other. If a team lacks an explosive and elusive running back, the having a blocking TE is crucial...so your guy MUST be big...and therefore is not likely a speedster. ( Gronkowski is not doing a ton of run

agreed. Odrick was a smart pick to play 3-4 DE....Starks was even better...that's why he is making plays. Odrick needs to spend another camp working on his speed moves. He has power...just not enough to play DT. So he needs to develop or he will be out.

One 1 of them yes....but there were two which were 100% BS....I don't care what tv you were watching I was there 7 rows from the sideline... he got jobbed. You are entitled to your opinion...but..when the Buffalo fans in the stands are agreeing that the refs got it wrong? I will have to go with that.

Don't forget that GM's regularly redo deals to create CAP space, and more contracts have signing bonuses that kick in later...so while you can average out a deal in theory...the actual CAP hit in each year is different. You may have a different set of priorities ...but money is not really the limiting factor. If we sign Wallace we still have to all our picks who will get paid according to d

I was at the game in Buffalo....and I can assure you that 2 of those penalties against Nolan Carrol were complete BS. Even the Buffalo fans around me all acknowledged the gift from the zebras. No question about it. Carrol played better than those penalties would suggest. That said we still need to acquire another starting corner.

IMO....lack of true 4-3 MLB. 4-3 defense requires a Ray Lewis, Urlacher, Willis. Sometone who steps into the hole and stops the RB at the point of contact. Jimmy Johnson designed a defense that plugged the middle with two big DT's and used the OLB to funnel the RB into Zach Thomas...who was precise, decisive, played at a low pad level and prevented 'yards after contact'. Dansby rarely st

If you sign Wallace....you still draft a guy in the 1st round...at the 12th or 15th slot...they get paid...so YES we can afford to do both. In 2010 we signed Dansby to a huge deal that avg. $8.4 Mill, we acquired Marshall and gave him a contract that paid him $9.5 Mill, and we drafted Odrick 28th and paid him $20 Mill over 5 years ($4mil/yr) Last year Michael Floyd was the 12th pick and he
