So far, Ireland has not brought in PLAYMAKERS....he has brought in solid...safe bet....building the foundation guys. This season he MUST bring playmakers. Of course the goal is to win now...but Philbin might be thinking...'draft a Tackle with the first pick' or spend money on a lock down corner.....which are valid smart decisions....ireland will try to do that too...but his priority will be

This is good insight....but...it could also be deliberate 'tipping' to create that impression for leverage. They are currently negotiating with Bush and company...so publicly extolling the virtues of Millar, and highlighting the youth movement lets Bush know...we are really willing to move on...so if you want to be a Dolphin....it has to be a bargain deal for us. I am always skeptical of an

True enough....but my point is more that Ireland is the one who is under pressure and in an effort to secure HIS OWN job, he may make some decsions that Philbin would not.

Agreed. forget pass interference...bad coaching lost that game. 1st and Goal inside the 10 and they didn't run the 'read option' which is what got them to the Superbowl. Dance with the girl that brought you...or go home alone.

Don't know why Incognito gets such a bad rap. The guy is a mauler. I love this guy's game. He didn't get to the pro-bowl because he is popular that's for sure. He got there because despite people hating playing him...they know he has an impact on the game!

I would be cool with any 1 f them. They each have a plus side and a minus. Jennings plus- system/coach familiarity, route versatility, good hands minus- age, has played on a well-prepared team with good QB...so his numbers likely represent his BEST...or full potential realized. So no bargain. Wallace plus - Speed,Speed, speed. Decent hands, developing other route options. minus- Money,m

I think you are right about Odrick. He was drafted as a 3-4 DE which is more like an undersized 4-3DT...but with Soliai being and oversized 4-3DT...the pairing works well. Gotta double PS leaving the athletic DT playing a Guard 1 on 1. I like Starks...but he may benefit from PS taking on the doubles.

Even if we draft Allen at 12...they can get Patterson or Williams or Hunter later.....so we can't stop them from getting 1 of these guys that are all around the same level. BUT we can draft a starting Corner to cover the guy they take...and get one of the WR's in the 2nd round. So we take a guy who can start and strengthen us against their strength...take away an opportunity for them t

All true...but not all signings will have an equal impact on this year's salary Cap. They have Capologists whose job it is to spread the money out over different years so you can pay more guys. For example, Patrick Willis signed a 5 year $50 million contract which should be $10 mill....but some of those dollars are options and bonuses...so his Cap figure for 2012 was $6.2 mill, 2013 it will

Ireland will have to produce impact players THIS SPRING....by training camp if he hasn't managed to bring in playmakers they will begin the process of looking for his replacement. Philbin is NOT on that short leash. Barring a regression, Philbin will be given 2 more seasons. That is what makes me think he has the luxury of time. In the NFL 2 years is a luxury.

My original point is not that we don't NEED to draft a WR....it is that in this draft which ever guy is available with the 12th pick...there is a similarly talented guy available with the 42nd pick. The same can not be said about DE,CB, and ILB, OL So...you use the 12th pick on the need you can't equally fill later, and use the later pick/s on guys that are rated within your desirability ra

Those are all very valid points... the one thing though...is as much as Philbin would prefer the draft and has the luxury of time...Ireland does not...he needs to impact the roster immediately....so I see us getting a lot of fresh faces. That $46 million is going to allow us to sign our key guys and bring in at least 3 new starters. We have guys on the roster that can replace some of our

I completely agree with you! If the Pats were looking to sign a WR....which they are.... Asuming we want and sign Jennings and they don't get Wallcae ( for whatever reason. And it comes down to Hartline or Bowe? What hurts us more? Them signing Hartline away from us hurts more than them signing Bowe. As you said...it should not be a significant strategy....but without ques

I don't think weakening opponents should be the primary goal....but it certainly adds value to a transaction. Look at how the Welker deal impacted us and the Pats.

Not really sure about this...but an idea came to me... Jarius Byrd is a Free Agent. I know we need a corner....but....if we did draft Ezekial Ansah...or a DE that would put pressure on the QB If we signed Byrd and paired him with Jones we would have the best pair of safeties in the league... Byrd is a playmaker and fits Irelands criteria. This might make it easier to fill the other

I think we will be able to draft one of the top rated guys in the 2nd round. There is no AJ Green or Julio Jones in this draft. A lot of teams need to get OL starters this year...so I don't see a run on WR's until the 2nd round. I would like to get: Ansah with the 12th pick Keenan Allen/Cordarelle Patterson/Terrence Williams/Dobson -pick 42 And then in the 3rd round a guy like Hunt

I recorded the game, haven't watched the 4th quarter....haven't seen Mellette...likely garbage time. Liked Ansah a lot...using the 12th on him seems like a solid prospect. Also liked Jonathan Franklin and TE Mike Williams.

I will be watching to see what this kid does today. He is tall, solid, fast, has great hands and lit up the FCS. I wonder how well he can demonstrate that 'he belongs'...

well articulated. I don't get the 'hate on' for Bowe. The guy has been getting very good production despite playing for a crappy team and instability at QB. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Hartline had a great year. Keep him. We need a veteran that can get open in the redzone, can get open deep, can run all the routes. A safety blanket for Tanny. we need a rookie who can develop chemistry with Tanny. Anyone who thinks Bowe, Jennings, or Wallace don't satisfy the need are digging in their heels ...in sand.

I agree you need to have a rookie with whom Tanny can develop, but it helps both the young QB and the rookie WR to have an established veteran WR that draws the attention of the D. Andrew Luck and T.Y Hilton will be great together....thanks to the presence of Reggie Wayne. Also, I don't think anyone is saying we won't be in the Superbowl next year. I think what we are saying is...you can

I think a guy who is a 1,000 yd WR with a string of backup QB's takes care of his body enough to do the job we need him to do. I like Jennings and Wallace as well....but looking at age, money, and production? Bowe makes great sense.

lol.....Chambers again :-) he is higher on the all-time Dolphin WR list than a lot of guys we hold up. Chambers prime was wasted with Fiedler underthrowing, overthrowing, poorly throwing the deep ball. He went to SD and had a good season, and was the top WR in the league during the play-offs. the next season Vincent Jackson exploded on the scene...which limited his targets. If Bowe is

Again.... Anquan Boldin, Wes Welker, Vincent Jackson, Garcon Those are the WR's. Jonathan Vilma???? Nate Clements??!! Jonathan Joseph!!?? Dansby?? There are lots of examples of teams not being able to afford players they would like to keep. This year it might be difficult to sign an impact LB...or DE...but it just so happens that there are 3 teams that will have a hard time ke

well said. I think Bowe would be a smart acquisition. You want a guy that gets open all over the field with all of the routes. IMO... Wallace has awesome speed and opens up the middle for other guys. Jennings brings experience, hands and knowledge of the system and helps Tanny develop as a system QB. Bowe is not as fast as Wallace, and is less West Coast than Jennings....but...I thi

While agree that the GM needs to be able to draft his own playmakers.... Anquin Boldin was a great acquisition for the Ravens Welker to the Patriots Piere Garcon has helped RG3 in Washington Vincent Jackson had a career year in Tampa I think the key is to get the guy before he turns 30. Then you get 3 or 4 solid seasons out of him and hopefully have developed your draft picks.

Exactly! Sign one of: Jennings,Bowe, Wallace Draft one of: Allen, Patterson, Williams, Hunter, Austin, Re-sign Hartline add in Bess and we have a very different WR corp. And a 1st rounder at DE,CB or LB
