I hope he joins the Taliban. He'd be the best thing that ever happened to the US armed forces.

I thought the operating theory is "if they don't bite as puppies, they won't bite period." The Carpenter signing doesn't seem to follow the official line.

Sanchez seems like a guy poised for a Sophomore slump. Henne sounds like he's doing well in practice. I've got to think a balanced offense will give him the space to do more in his passing game than Sanchez will ever hope to do. By the end of the year, I think the main comparison will be which is more valuable, Matty Ice or Chad Henne/Jake Long. We should be smiling over that one. It s

I wasn't burying anybody. I just can't remember less talk about a first round pick than Odrick. Of course no one knows how they are going to be doing at this time of year. IMHO the lack of talk may have more to do with the Marshall/Dansby signings. Perhaps the silence is mostly about the extremely good off season we have had.

I hope we do end up in the top three, but I think we crack the playoffs and not much more. I think there is just too much youth on D. Just for Odrick and Misi to adjust to a 16 game NFL season will be big. How about FS? Of course the offense could be WIDE open if the R&R express stays healthy with Marshall opening up the backfield. As Ricky texted right after the Marshall trade, "

I didn't follow Caroll in college and I guess I was a little too hopeful based on the news. You guys are probably right.

I hope these guys do as well with pads on. Caroll getting praise is interesting. I know I was surprised when we picked him. It sounds like we may get 2-3 starters and one solid contributor from the draft which is not bad at all. Is it possible that even with solid and improving play by Sean Smith that Nolan Caroll beat him out? I know that there are no pads on yet, but it's an intriguin

I agree with you, AND I hope your right as far as the number of times we use the wc. I have to wonder what we can get for Pat White? One second rounder down the drain.

Probably. The only thing I wonder about is that there still seems to be work done on the Wildcat. I was thinking with Marshall in town they might do away with that. If Pat were to shine in the Wild cat, who knows?

I'm glad we're getting something for him. I guess this falls into improving the bottom half of your roster (a pick is better than a cut). It's too bad. When healthy, he seemed pretty decent. I am glad we will be talking about who has the most potential instead of how long before our LG retires, eh?

I have to agree with Mike O on Henne. To be more specific, if Henne can learn a good short to intermediate touch pass, it will be HUGE. As Pennington says, a QB must take advantage of 3 dimensions. With giant NFL players, Henne must use a little bit of arc now and then.

Size sure can be related. The leading cause of unexpected deaths are blood clots. When I was 40, I put on few pounds and my activity went down due to a job situation. I ended up with blood clots going in both major arteries going to my lungs. That very nearly killed me. I learned that Blood clots kill more people than AIDS and breast cancer combined, and is one of the leading causes of

I'm so glad to we're not debating whether we're 1 and 15 vs. 4 and 12. We are having REAL competition in many places. Holes? Sure. But we are getting better and better. I was stunned when I watched the trifecta double down the first year because of so many holes, but now I see how it makes even the first round picks avoid complacency. Being ranked 10 is nice.

Of course this is early and all in fun, but IF Ronnie Brown can return to his own form AND stay health for a year, IF Ricky Williams is NOT over used, IF someone Clemons can play FS better than Wilson and IF Starks does OK at NT I think we crack the top 5. I am can hardly wait to see R&R run against a front 7 bpa

From what I read, he is blazing fast and an awesome college player. I also remember that we have drafted several players with blazing speed afraid of contact. Ginn, and if you want to go back a ways, John Avery. Both of those guys were so fast they didn't get hit much in college, but when they got to the pros, the speed was higher and the contact was 10X what they were used to in college.

ChyrenB, Actually, I don't have a question about his intelligence. I also suspect that his catching ability is somewhat reduced by his fear. Heck, I'd be afraid of hearing footsteps if I was out their too. I think it's hard to appreciate how hard the NFL season wears down players. I thought this was common knowledge about Ginn. I don't know how many reporters have written about th

The guy that really was a downer for me was John "I run from trouble" Avery. Hmmmmm. Come to think of it, he sounds a lot like Ginn. Real quick and real afraid. Hello sidelines. Arrrrrghhhhhh.

If we did trade down, I hope we get Dan Williams. I am not sold on Soliai.

My dream pairing is: 1a = Rolando McClain IL 1b (via Trade) = Dan Williams NT I don't know what it would take, but I would absolutely love it.My precombine thoughts as to what has a good chance of happening is: 1 = Rolando McClain IL 2 = Terrence Cody NT Not ideal, but there's a tremendous upside if the coaching staff can motivate him and he can keep h

Good luck to him on the open market. I think he just ate a cool $1M over his pride. It's tough for anyone one to deal with his age, but I think he and the rest of the team should respect Sparano's honesty. Hopefully, Cam Wake picks up the slack. That said, I thought Porter was a thug when he came to the team, but he actually grew on me. I never thought I'd like him, but he always gave

I think I remember Soliai commenting that he was glad that they didn't bring in a high round draft pick to compete with him last year. I think a young guy pushing gives a new and improved Soliai. From what I've read (and I would love to hear from someone who has seen something) my impression of the NT ratings are: 1. Odrick 2. Williams - Price 3. Mount Cody I've seen some drafts that

One thing about the Trifecta's drafting that I find fascinating is their doubling down on positions that they think we are weak in. Last year, when we picked up Vonte Davis, I figured we're good enough with him and Will Allen, then bam, here comes Sean Smith. I was excited that he dropped that far but amazed. I think they must think its critical to maintain competition in areas of weakness.

I was wondering if they might talk up players that they were not going to go after. What if they decided that Jared Odrick was our NT? Would it make sense to look excited over Mount Cody? It would surprise me more if they didn't want to put up a bit of smoke to cover their intentions. My guess is if McClain is available we get him and try to pick up a NT in the second round. Even if So

I liked that too. We could start to dictate more of what the offenses do with those guys. I hope we get McClain, but I'm worried about what we'll do if we don't. We need a NT above all else, and I seem to remember that Ireland was talking about this year being a better year for NT than last. Anyway, if we don't get McClain, I hope we can trade down which is always easier said than done.

If Rolando McClain is available, I think we will probably take him. If not I think we will try to trade down the idea being that we will probably take a NT, but 11 is too high to take either Dan Williams or Mount Cody. With that in mind, I think we will end up with something like: 1 Dan Williams NT 2. Brandon Spikes IL and perhaps a 3rd? It's beyond me who we'll get in later rounds.

It's unbelievable that no one has picked up Duke. I'd love to see him on our team because I think the change of both of our guards staying healthy is slim to none. bpa

Yup. I had a end of the day brain fart. Duke Robinson. I don't think Smiley is durable enough to make it through the season, and really like the thought of Robinson/Long teamed up. I think there's v. little chance that will happen though.
