First and Second Round Pairings

My dream pairing is: 1a = Rolando McClain IL
1b (via Trade) = Dan Williams NT

I don't know what it would take, but I would absolutely love it.My precombine thoughts as to what has a good chance of happening is:

1 = Rolando McClain IL
2 = Terrence Cody NT

Not ideal, but there's a tremendous upside if the coaching staff can motivate him and he can keep his weight under control.

If a miricle occurs and we get Wifork, then I would think

1 = Rolando McClain IL
2 = Daryl Washington IL

The other strong possibility I see is

1 = Dan Williams NT
2 = Daryl Washington IL

After the senior bowl, I like Dan Williams more and more. NT is a tough position to fill so the trifecta may do something like this even if Rolando is on the table. It seems to me that they stated that they like to build a team from the inside out. To me, that means that NT will be the priority.

Of course the one glaring hole in what I am talking about is FS. I could see us drafting one in the first round if Eric Berry miraculously fell to us. However, I am somewhat optimistic that our younger players will be an improvement. I think one of the problems we had was getting talent on the field. My guess is that was part of the reason that Pasqualoni was fired. Besides not getting Cam Wake on the field, we didn't see much of Chris Clemons or Tyrone Culver. I read that Clemons had a pretty good camp last year but didn't see much on the field. We could have a D that is head and shoulders better than last year if:

1. We strengthen the middle (NT/IL)
2. Wake continues on his trajectory
3. Clemons is an improvement over Wilson

All of which, I think is totally possible.

I wouldn't mind us trading down in the 1st round, picking up Spikes, and getting an extra 2nd round pick.

If we did trade down, I hope we get Dan Williams. I am not sold on Soliai.

if we trade down, it will prob be b/c an OT or QB has fallen--2 positons teams are desperate for and we are not drafting this year. maybe seattle moves up from 14? but that would likely net us only an additional 4th rounder....another option is GB moving up from 23 to take an OL. that would probably get us their 2d--I'd do that.
