I was a huge fan of hiring Cowher last year and I thought not doing so was Ross' most grievous mistake. However, the prospect of actually getting Andrew Luck must be considered. If we do indeed get the opportunity to draft him, we need to get a coach who is more offensively creative than Cowher, and preferably one who can develop him into the face of the franchise. Enter Jon Gruden.

Manning has made it clear to the Colts that he intends to play as soon as he feels healthy enough, no matter when that is. Aging, great QBs pose a very challenging situation to NFL teams when they insist on playing well into their mid-late 30's. The fan base is enamored with Manning, and thus the team will not want to throw him under the bus and risk alienating its paying customers. Essentiall

I wouldn't be surprised if Peyton played a handful of games late in the year, giving them an actual shot at winning a couple games.

This is, I hope, a classic example of just reading too much into a harmless situation. Ross was simply talking to a former college coach, who retired for health reasons, and who happened to be part of a half-time celebration. What was Ross supposed to do? Punch him in the mouth? I'm sure he was simply being cordial. Not everyone Ross talks to between now and the offseason is going to be a p

Nooooo, not yet. Gotta ride the hot hand of failure. Can't risk accidentally winning a game with an interim coach.

I think this would most likely refer to a scenario in which he would have to sit behind a good QB with no plans to retire, such as in Indy. He probably just doesn't want to deal with the crap that Aaron Rogers had to deal with.

Crowder was just doing us all a favor guys. He was simply giving us a sterling example of how to behave with zero class, so that we may best avoid doing so in the future.

The simple fact of the matter is that consumers are voting in the only way they can: with their wallets. People are not going to buy an inferior product and fans have every right to demand, "we will no longer financially support a team that does nothing but regress, unless drastic changes are made to improve". Welcome to capitalism.

Sort of like playing for the team's hated rival and then begging to come back?

I seriously doubt Luck would refuse to play for a team like Miami, as his agents will surely point to teams like Detroit who can be turned around very quickly with a new coach and a good QB. Miami is basically the perfect place for him to play. Aside from the obvious benefits of living in Miami, he will be going to a situation where he will be "the man" from day one. He's not going t

Assuming Sparano/Ireland do not remain with the team next year, who should Ross hire? Do we go with the proven winner; Cowher? Do we go with fire and brimstone; Gruden? Do we go the surprising route with someone like Rob Ryan? Or someone under the radar?

I think they will probably wait until after the season to make a decision. If we do have a chance to draft Luck, then its probably best to simply cut all ties with Henne and move on. The guy is still young enough where he will want to play, or at least compete for a job, so it would probably hold a young QB back more than help. On the other hand, if Ireland stays and does something stupid l

They're both equally to blame. If ever there was a time to clean house, it is now.

The rules were simply much different back then. It was basically an entirely different game. When Marino played, defensive backs could practically mug WRs. It was a much tougher era in which to throw the ball. So, you needed a strong defense and a running game, which is something Shula never decided to pursue. With today's rules, QB's win Superbowls.

Today's NFL is completely different than it was in the 80's and 90's. The rule changes since the Marino era have completely changed the game. These days, quartbacks win Superbowls.

If Reggie Bush had been traded to the Patriots instead, and Belichick ran him up the middle, everyone would call it genius. Bush isn't the fastest guy in the league, but he may very well be the quickest. That quickness does not fade when he runs between the hash marks. He is not an in-line sprinter like Ginn was.

I'm so sick of this "you can't run Bush up the middle" nonsense that he was branded with in New Orleans. He is NOT the first small RB in the history of the league, and he will NOT be the last. Everyone keeps saying that he's going to get hurt running up the middle, but injuries happen no matter where you are on the football field. Just go ask Ronnie Brown. The guy has a chip on hi

While Henne had a good game, last night clearly defined the difference between an average QB and a great QB. Brady commanded the entire game. He dictated our defense more than Mike Nolan. The question is, can we win a superbowl with an average/good QB?

You've got to be joking. The only thing dynamic about Ted Ginn is his impeccable ability to develop alligator arms as soon as the ball is in the air.
