What Berkeley said. And this only applies to the 1st round, and even then not always. Look at last year - Seattle drafted Russell Wilson in the 3rd round after signing Flynn to a huge contract, and Washington drafted Kirk Cousins in the 4th after drafting RGIII in the first round. In '83 Miami drafted Marino even though QB was not considered a position of need for the team (we had Wood/Str

That would never happen Chryen. If that situation occurred, Barkley would never be available at #12, he'd be the overall 1st pick (a la Luck). Teams that draft #1 overall are usually in desparate need of a QB; teams that have what they consider to be a franchise QB generally don't draft #1 overall. So yes, draft the BPA, even if it's already an area of strength. Most successful teams do that.

i think we should have definitely gone with the leaping dolphin instead of the swimming/tail swishing/sashaying dolphin. And it should have a scowl on its face to look mean. And maybe an AR-15 tucked under it's fin. And dangling a cigarette from it's scowling mouth. That would definitely intimidate the other teams.

Ellerbee had 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles last year after replacing Ray Lewis. Dansby had 6 sacks in 3 years with the Phins. He also finished 2nd on the Ravens in tackles even though he only played 13 games. I like the signing.

I'm not worried about the Jets picking one spot in front of us and drafting a future HOFer. They'll continue drafting their Mark Sanchezes and Vernon Gholstons. Many of the successful teams trade down in the draft and continue to pick up good players. You simply shouldn't root for your team to lose to get a couple spots higher in the draf.

No one has a magic crystal ball when it comes to the draft, and there is just has much chance of drafting a bust at 10 as at 20, and just has much chance of drafting a stud at 20 as at 10. I can't see any scenario in which I would want or root for the Patsies to beat the Phins. I root for the Phins to win no matter what the circumstances. As TCPF said, teams like GB, the Patsies, etc. haven't d

I think a more accurate version of dophaholic's statement would be that the dolphins' drafts have gotten better since Parcells left. Parcells' stamp was left all over the 2008 and 2009 drafts, as well as the entire team philosphy. Whether he or Ireland made the actual draft picks, the types of players selected (big, plodding types) were of the Parcells blueprint. They brought in a coaching sta

Personally I believe Tannehill will learn much more and much faster playing than standing on the sidelines watching someone else play. Whether that is Matt Moore or Tom Brady. That's all I'm saying.

Like Eesti, I live in Tampa Bay Area. Talib has a lot of talent, but a lot of baggage. He was suspended once before (I think it was for the taxi incident.) The aggravated assault charge was especially bizarre - it couldn't be determined if he or his mother fired the gun at her boyfriend - that's why the prosecutors dropped the charges. I'm hoping he will be the same type of cancer with the

It's really tough to judge Ireland at this point. I think he is a good talent evaluator and has generally made good picks. I think Sparano and Co. were terrible at developing talent however, and in fact players often seemed to regress under him. I look at the improvement that Misi and Jerry have made under Philbin, as well as much of our secondary, and am beginning to believe it was poor coachi

Rex Ryan is also blaming the Jets' loss to the Patriots on Ryan Tannehill. And Chan Gailey said the reason the Bills gave up a touchdown to the Titans on 4th and 9 was because of Ryan Tannehill. The NHL lockout is also being blamed on Ryan Tannehill.

Quote from Jeff Fisher about Tannehill after the game, via PFT: "“He’s got too much poise, too much experience in the system,” Fisher said , via Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post. “He’s going to be a good player.”

Sporano has been practicing his fist pumps all week. I'm looking for them to kick about 4 field goals.

Great drive in the 4th quarter! I am really liking what I see from RT. Still makes rookie mistakes, but the kid is only going to get better.

This is really a very silly poll. You have to look at the context that Long was drafted. The other options the Phins had that year who were considered as potential #1 overall picks were Glenn Dorsey, Chuck Long, Vernon Gholston, Darren McFadden, and Matt Ryan. Of those, you could make an argument only for Matt Ryan, and he is (IMHO) only a good, not great QB, and on our team he would probably

Well, not my first post. I've been on this board for over 10 years. I used to post as dolfans1, but since there is also a dolfan1 (who joined well after me) who is somewhat "controversial," I changed my name. Thanks, anyway. I don't post much, but I've been a Phin fan for almost 40 years (my God how time flies!), and I'm an optimist tempered by realism (at least when it comes to foo

Chryen- I am a small business owner. I make an investment in every employee I hire. Some of them don't work out. I don't like to let them go, but sometimes I have to. When I do, I don't wish ill will on them, but they deserve the right to know why I'm letting them go, and I hope they'll do better elsewhere. Even if they go to a competitor. I think that is being a man. I see absolutely no

dolfanmark is correct. 3-4 DEs are more like DTs in a 4-3. Tie up the O-linemen to let the linebackers make the plays on passing downs, and stuff the run. Odrick only played ~1/2 the snaps, so 6 sacks is especially impressive. He is more suited to a 4-3 DE position, so I think this year will be a breakout year for him.
