For that pass interference call. Glad we won anyway.

Now, the division record becomes all important. Sure, we will be one game behind in overall record to the Pats and Jets but we will be 2-0 in the Division and If we go on to beat the Pats, we will be 3-0 in the division, which means another loss by the Jets to someone else, gives us the TRUE lead in the division.

Well, first of all, the game at the Oakland Coliseum could have been my Junior year 68-69 instead of my sophomore (first year at Cal), that's why I equivocated. But I do remember being at the game. I wasn't "tripping" as they would have said at Berkeley at the time nor on one of the pharmaceuticals prevalent on the campus at that time none of which are mentioned by you. As for the

EXACTLY! Bob was the campus hero. In fact, since I lived in Los Angeles, Purdue's one and only trip to the Rose Bowl was in January of 1967 when we beat USC about 15 to 13 or something. Griese was the quarterback and Leroy Keyes was the running back. Even though I transferred to Berkeley in the fall of 1967, I'm pretty sure it was that fall that I went to a game between the Dolphins and

I had thought that you were referring to division record. We would have the best division record and when the overall record starts evening out toward the end of the year, that will be the most important won-loss record.

Just making a point about how coaches can be paid a lot of money and have a prestigous position and still be wrong. Leon, Back in the 1800's, when football was just getting started in the nation and in Indiana. Purdue had just been started as a land grant college, mainly in agriculture. The big power of that day, in Indiana at least, was Wabash College. West Lafayette is near the Wabash

Curt and Dolphinmark might recall that on the old MiamiDolphins.com chatboard, when it was in existence, I supported Damon Huard so much that people started calling me "Huard's mom."

17022. My analysis
is that Henne being more of a passing threat than Pennington made our running game more difficult to deal with. If I am right, and it was not just the lousy Buffalo defense, as one of my coworkers warned, we might be in for some mighty good times. Our defense, particularly our pass defense, was coming on. I see us beating the Jest (intentionally so spelled).

We're not looking for a long term answer, PhinsFan. We're looking for someone who can run the team if Henne goes down, not someone who we are looking at to compete with Henne, and if the team is good enough to make the playoffs, who won't take us out by his inexperience. Unlike what I am getting that you are saying, I am not saying replace Henne. I'm saying that Henne needs a backup. Ri

Well, it would be difficult given Chad Henne, Pat White and NOW Thigpen, I mean who would be given the boot? But let me get at the real intent of your post. Assume both Thigpen and Garcia were free agents. I would have picked Garcia in a heartbeat. This team needs experienced reliable veterans backing up at quarterback. Tyler Thigpen?

In fact, the moderators probably have the statistics on the number of PMs everyone has sent. I now publicly give them permission to reply post here with the number of PMs sent by ChyrenB since his being on the board. Curt, Phinfans2, etc..... go ahead.

Wow! I did not know that Ghotirule had left. I did not also know about the Thunder-SamSam thing. I know Thunder tends to get upset and expresses his views strongly but he always seems to argue the issue and not the person although he does put the person down for arguing the opposite of the issue. I really have not understood why Thunder is always regarded as being on thin ice. Ghotir

Here's the dilemma. Realistically, what other team would want Ginn? I think that Ginn is undergoing a crisis of confidence. The kid had to have the talent to make to this level. I am sure he CAN be all that is expected of him. However, at this point it is mental. Until he overcomes his crisis of confidence and again begins to believe in himself, he will not show himself to be the

I criticized Penny two weeks ago and had to eat my words after last week's performance. Unlike some of the board, I thought he did even better this week. I didn't see Henne pick up the slack but maybe this coming week, he will be better knowing his entire NFL future depends on it. Nonetheless, he showed a lot of heart and did not deserve the bad break that the injury brought him. Get

17034. Re: week 4-5
Let's hope that 1) with what we've learned so far 2) the inspiration of playing divisional games 3) Henne realizing that this play will determine his future, not only with the Dolphins but in the NFL forever and 4) Ginn catching the Swine Flu (mild case, mild case, mild case.) Weeks 4 and 5 will be bright and rosy. I'm hanging in there for my Fins, My Boilers, and my Bear

I think a lot of it is also coaching strategy. Only late in the game did the coaching staff realize that our most effective defensive pass strategy was blitz, blitz, blitz. But this should have been obvious. What's the worst part of our defense? Our secondary. What are the best parts of their offense, first, the passing game and within that, the passer and his receivers. So let

17037. HCH Ginn
I now Christian him HCH Ginn. HCH means "He Covers Himself" Ginn. If you are a defensive team, assign someone to Camarillo, Bess, etc., but no need to assign anyone to cover Ginn, he covers himself. He'll drop the ball even when wide open. Don't believe the announcers who claim that those passes were behind him. He got his hands under and around both balls. HCH Ginn.
