Yeah, I don't think rebuild should be on the table. We have legitimate young talent and some notable veteran talent AND our cap is in good shape. I think a rebuild is in order when you assess that the whole thing isn't working and doesn't have a reasonable chance to work on the player talent/cost side. Without knowing the inner stuff that I'll probably never know and, like the rest of us, ha

Not saying you're wrong about too many better options out there, but would love to hear the short list. I actually think he learned from mistakes and: a) demonstrated it over the last 1/2 of the season b) got more out of the talent than many coaches would have (speaking of 2.5 years of his tenure...admittedly the first 1/2 of this season was a cluster and I think a lot of it had to do with t

Would be really good to beat them 2x this year.

I do think Flores has done a good job overall of leading the team, and I believe he'll improve in the areas where he needs to. In large part, I think that improvement comes via improved staff around him. I don't think Jeanpierre and rookies/2nd year guys + not-talented-enough vets was Plan A when this process started 3 years ago. I actually think we would be light years ahead of where we are

I used to think things like arm strength and accuracy were sort of "whatever God gifted you" and relatively immutable. I don't think that's entirely the case, though the gifting is certainly more than significant. I believe many have said that both Brees & Brady had improved their arm strength over time, and Josh Allen (among others) has improved accuracy by leaps & bounds.

Until the game got away from us at the end, it was like a series of unforced errors on offense. D wasn't playing as well as they have been, but certainly good enough for the game to remain competitive if the offense had done anywhere near its part. Tua's throwing in the first half was absolutely atrocious. Guys were open and he was throwing way high...or way short...completely off target. T

The news that he won't be playing the rest of the season came as no surprise. But, it accentuates the sting of the misuse of FA dollars over the past couple of years. I know that - just like with the draft - you don't hit on all of your FA signings. But, they come with the kicker of knowing you nearly always overpay, even if you get near the performance you expected. I've liked the approa

I was sharing with my son just a few days ago how ZT used to frustrate opposing QBs by calling out their exact play pre-snap. He was unbelievable.

Drafting a stud C and signing a legit quality starter FA (especially if he replaces Davis) are the kind of moves that I think fit best now that we've taken some lumps with our youth movement. Moses seems like he's (per PFF - I'm not smart enough to outsmart their evals) a pretty consistent performer year over year in the "green" area. I'm also for keeping Jones unless there's clearl

Yeah, I remember thinking the only good OL we've had in the past couple decades (2016) was built almost entirely of 1st rounders. When they were on the field together, our OL was a significant advantage. Injuries had their way, so all 5 weren't able to be on the field together much. And, they would have been prohibitively expensive to retain. 1st rounders - especially in the top 1/2 - more

Regarding OL and how it fits into the overall salary cap structure, I think it should be a relatively low priority/amount in the future...but that depends upon "doing it right". In my opinion, the best right way is to have year-over-year continuity of a working system. So, you know what you're looking for when you draft and can identify some late-round diamonds in the rough that you

Thankful the D came to life in the 2nd half and we had a big running game. Missed Waddle and Holland, and Tua had a subpar game. I obviously like it when we're firing on all cylinders, but it's good to be able to win one when we're not.

Oh yeah, we were absolutely playing 11 on 12+ every time we faced them - seemingly irrespective of the venue.

Brady used to kill us with the the short pass. Those passes coming out of his hand in about a second, hitting Welker just a couple yards down the field who would then just dive forward for another 3 yds. It was like 7+ yards every time with almost no risk and crazy high success rate.

Based upon his draft eval of Tua, I definitely think Simms has reason to see his performance as whatever is opposite of rose-colored glasses. Frankly, that's been one reason I've paid some attention to what he's said along the way - always good for me to hear detractors to see if what they say has merit. In this case, I do not think that "the whole world can throw the ball five yards ove

Gaskins has to be better in pass pro. Last week, the 57 yarder to Waddle was enabled by a great block by Lindsey. This week, our 2nd-half opening drive Tua had a man open for the 1st down and Gaskins chose not to block up the middle. Those kinds of things make all the difference for our style of football.

I still think they can (and should have last year) put 1 elite OL FA and another vet OL who's top 1/2 at his position and the line - even with all the youth - would really accelerate the development dramatically. Not much to be done at this point in the season, but genuinely believe it's a key to not having to wait 3 yrs to see if they'll make it to the level where they need to be.

I'm with you on injuries. It's tough to fathom the idea of him being so good that we can afford to have him miss a handful of games/yr, year after year. That's what the small sample size shows so far, but it could be losing him for entire "rest of the season"s or worse. On the arm strength side of things: 1. I think it can be improved, so the question is to what extent and can his

Yeah, it seems different regimes have different ways of not putting together a full end-to-end, reaching our full potential season :-). I'd like to think that Flores' is the more fixable issue as I think it stems from him revamping his coaching staff every year and offseason/training camp not being enough time for them to hit their collective stride. It'd be interesting to see what some conti

It would be amazing if Jackson & Eichenberg develop into legitimate starters. I think coaching has hurt them, and I still think that having 1 legit elite vet OL player and another top 1/2 vet OL would completely change the complexion of the whole thing. With both of those guys on the left side trying to figure out up from down...and Davis at RT showing he simply doesn't have the requisite a

Looking at his season to date, I'm seeing: - 1 game (NE) where he wasn't really the problem or solution - the team had to win w/o him being very effective - 1 game (2nd BUF) where it was just a clunker on his part (and the 1st BUF game would have been if he weren't knocked out so early) - the remaining 4.5 games he's been pretty remarkably consistent in that small sample size. About 28 comp

Grier's taken some some heat for his use of our 5 1st rounders over the past two years, with the most well-deserved directed at the Jackson & Igbanoghene picks last year. Tua's been a lightening rod and, for me, the jury's still out at this point. At any rate, besides Tua having played really well since coming in against Baltimore: - our run defense has been very effective since Raekwon

We were a complete hot mess on offense to start the season - coaching, system, execution...hell, even putting the right players on the field at the right positions. I think that was significantly exacerbated by Tua going down and Brissett being such a different (and in my opinion worse) QB, so our offensive hot mess became truly offensive to the point that it impacted the whole team's attitude a

Man...an OT loss to the Raiders with the uncalled PI in the end zone. 2 games lost on walk-off FGs to the Jags & Falcons. Crazy the difference between 7-4 and 4-7.

I guess I'd consider Thursday's play to be much more what I expected from them all season...however, that's clearly not how it's played out over the course of the first 10 games. That said, I certainly think it can be a norm and would be reasonable to expect over the next 7 games. We didn't bring our A game, really, in my opinion...bunch of penalties, 4 sacks allowed, minimal running game. B

Been a crappy year so far and tough to get too excited about beating the Texans while turning it over 5x. But, last night's win was well-deserved and a great game to watch. Glad you were able to be there in person, Treasure.
