My opinion - 2 things can be true at the same time: Ross has had quite a few missteps in his tenure as owner, and I hope he figures out how to fulfill the role as it ought to be. And Flores seemed not to be the guy to put it all together. He just couldn't get a quality staff together on the offensive side of the ball and his strained relationship w/Tua was likely very counterproductive. I

I think he truly is grounded, and his personality - not that I know him personally - is one of the reasons I root for him. I'm not naive enough to think that you can win with a team of absolute angels, but I have wondered occasionally whether I'd rather go the rest of my life w/o seeing the Phins hoist the Lombardi 1x or have a team I'm proud to root for year in & year out that never quite g

I think that the legacy players on our OL underperformed its collective raw talent for the past couple of years when so many young high draft picks were integrated into it. You could see the dysfunction on the offensive side of coaching with our co-co-coordinators, or whatever. The additions of Armstead & Williams are really solid, in my opinion. I'd still favor the addition of another O

Good point. I'm probably just a bit slow in recognizing the addition of and/or rising to higher-rated PFF talent over the past 12 mo. Going into the 2021 season, we probably only had X as anywhere near elite rating. Now we have: - X as an established dominant CB - Wilkins, Sieler and Ogbah all highly rated on the DL last year - Holland PFF rated in the 80s in his rookie year - our

PFF just published a report that ranks teams by cap health. Particularly interesting, I thought, was the incorporation of the combined valuation of the top 51 players on each team. I'm assuming it's using the overthecap player valuation that can be seen in each player's individual otc page. I think that relies heavily on the player's PFF rating as a component of the overall valuation. We ra

Stumping hard for ZT to be in the HoF. Among the things he said "Put his stats up with mine, Ray (Lewis), any other linebacker who's even close to a Hall of Famer or in the Hall of Fame, he’s right there with us, if not better.” As I scan the list of players who have been inducted over the past 7-8 years, there are a great number who I would say are roughly equal or less deserving

I like that Hunt is saying this. I really hope that Austin Jackson & Liam Eichenberg are soaking in his wisdom and gleaning from his experience. Hunt didn't have a great season last year, but he was - by far - the best OL of last year's bunch. Lots of room for improvement among our young OL players.

Not saying it's cause/effect type of correlation, but I thought it was interesting that 3 of the 4 final teams last year (including the SB champs) joined us in the bottom 6 units. Moreover, the top 10 was littered with teams that could be considered mediocre or worse. I will say that it seems like the running game may be more important to us this year than for many other teams. That said, Mc

Yeah, I've advocated for an elite FA + a proven FA to put on our line to stabilize it enough for the young talent to develop well. Ideally, it would have been done, in my opinion, 2 years ago. But, I think Armstead + Williams basically fit that bill...better late than never, I suppose. I like how Hunt has been able to perform & develop in spite of suboptimal circumstances, but I'm "ho

My opinion it's some of both, but probably more of the former than the latter. My understanding is that his continued hip healing/strengthening has had a positive effect on what would be seen as arm strength/talent. I.e. he can throw better with a healthier hip. But to have a guy used to catching from Mahomes call Tua's arm strength "crazy" might be a bit of hyperbole :-) That s

Agreed, and I'm sure we'll see some highlights where we think "man, we could have used that acrobatic 3rd down catch". However, I just don't think DP fit well overall. I love that we've invested in receivers who can separate and burn.

I'm hopeful that our moves outpace New England's, and on paper they seem to so far. I'm optimistic about McDaniel and our offense joining our defense to balance the team strength. I think NE will really miss their long-time OC. In 2021, it seems like most of Buffalo's losses were instances of them simply underperforming. They laid eggs against PIT, JAX and IND. They lost a weird weather ga

Yeah, I've liked the circus and clutch catches over the years, but I think Parker - assuming we can get relatively decent value (say 4th round or better) - will be traded. I think they'd be tempted to trade him for even less, honestly.

I could actually see that set subbing Bowden for Parker and Bowden doing some of the Swiss army knife stuff Deebo was doing for SF last year. For me, a lot of what's good about these moves is that the sum of the parts may be greater than the whole. A big potential example in my mind is that we'd have the possible reality of never truly be out of a game. In years past, with our protection, we

The acquisition of Hill may be a serious boon for Gisecki. In KC, Kelce already had a couple nice seasons before Hill arrived...but after, he never dipped below 1000 yds/season and averaged 8 TD/season. As run blockers they're clearly different, and Tua isn't Mahomes. But, in the passing game much of what Kelce was able to do was a result of defenses having to honor Hill's speed and giving ext

I'd say that it has probably been since the days of Wannstedt that I have seen this many blue-chip or potentially blue-chip players on the same Dolphins team, and I actually think we could have more right now if some of our key young players continue to develop. Then: Ricky Williams, Madison, Surtain, ZT & JT with Chambers and McMichael and most of our OL players being above average. No

As I consider it in summary, I like that everything seems to make sense so far in terms of the folks you listed. Makes sense to keep Ogbah & MG (at least for 1 yr). Makes huge sense to upgrade OL and also to bring in WR, RB/FB & QB that can hopefully integrate into his system. My concerns (and they're not massive): - quite a bit of injury history among the new adds - not sure of

Our OL has been so lost for so long. Besides a brief 1/2 season or so with Albert, Tunsil, Pouncey, Bushrod & James, we've really been a mess for a good 10 yrs, I'd say. I, of course, want Armstead's contribution on the field as much of his contract as possible. But, I think his experience and character (not that I know him personally) will help lead our OL. My guess is everyone individ

I find myself agreeing with what you said and recognizing that he's elite talent/proven on-field performance with, seemingly, a spotless character record also. I'd like to think that some of these things come into play: - NO let him go more because of their salary cap hell vs. not wanting him due to injury/availability risk - he has lasted this long on the market because there's a league-w

I do think OL coach is more important than any single OL player's talent. Though I've been very disappointed in every player but Hunt last year, it's hard for me to imagine that Jackson & Eichenberg (and even the demoted Kindley) are as bad as what they showed on the field last year. There will always be swings & misses with high draft picks, but just hard for me to believe it was 3 rel

The other 4 were Jackson, Eichenberg, Davis & Dieter Sorry - uncalled for...just having fun. I read that last year's penalty # was higher than his previous 3 yrs combined.

So we signed Connor Williams for 2 yrs $14M - a move that seems like a good one with him seemingly improving PFF performance rating (sorry, don't know how better to assess OL with my untrained eye unless they're elite). Bucs trade a 5th for Shaq Mason with 2 yrs remaining at $15.8M (and 100% of that cap savings if cut/traded). His PFF is upper 80s elite. He is older, but certainly more prove

I agree regarding the OL and see the Mike G franchise as a great opportunity to see for 2022 if the offense can utilize him with his blocking warts or if it's ultimately just not the right fit for what we need at TE. I'm really hoping it can work long-term, as he brings a lot to the table.

I'm glad we re-signed him. Spotrac had his projected contract at more like $30M for 3 yrs, so perhaps a bit more than I had anticipated with them as the source...but I don't know details of how the money is spread and cap hits/savings over the course of it. I felt like their estimate was a bit low, so I'm not too surprised at the number. Good player and a good keep.

I've been thinking that having a stud MLB could be what takes our D to the next level. He's been rated highly forever (including the most recent years) but his cap # was over $20M and SEA saves $16.6M on his release. So, from the outside, it would seem to be just cap with the team pivoting with the trade of Wilson toward accumulating picks & freeing up cap space for a rebuild. There's al

The rule (unless it's changed) is that we'd receive two 1st-round picks.

I don't know whether we could have beaten it or not, but I definitely don't see it as the Broncos getting him at a discount or anything (not that you were implying that). Noah Fant has seemingly been worthy of his low-1st round selection and he's a proven quantity vs. an unproven future 1st-rounder. For me, he is sort of getting a third 1st-rounder in the deal since he's still on his inexpens

Yep - my heart is that they keep him and figure out how to maximize his contribution and minimize any weaknesses because I think he's a special talent as a receiving TE. But, sometimes what I hope and what coaches see are 2 different things :-)

As I recall, we did tag & trade Landry for a 4th & 7th (so, to your point, next to nothing for sure). I'd franchise tag him and be open to negotiating a trade for the right comp unless I just absolutely needed something from the TE position that he simply can't bring. I'd prefer he remain with us for at least 2022, but I can see letting him go and doing the best to get what you can fo
