2551. Re: Harvin
Neither Harvin nor his agent have denied the drug test. And there were reports today that the drug test was confirmed. Failing a drug test at the combine is just plain being stupid. He was suspended from high school athletics for numerous problems. And don't underestimate the Florida WR thing. In that offense, these guys don't run NFL routes. They do not have a good track record of success

I think it's clear that CB is a major need. But, this is a terrible draft for corners. If we take a corner in round 1, we'll be reaching for one. Other than Malcolm Kelly, no corner carries a true first round grade. Davis would on talent, but his attitude and lack of dominance pushes him down to round 2. Butler has great speed and good feet, but is less than ideal size and played against inferior

2553. Re: Harvin
Parcells doesn't like problem children. It won't happen. In addition to the drug test, you now have his history coming out about his past disciplinary problems. And then throw in that Florida receivers have a terrible track record of transitioning to the NFL. It just won't happen.

Martin will be 31 next season, so I doubt there's any chance he gets re-signed by this regime. Fasano will likely be re-signed. And then you need someone to replace Martin's downfield ability. I expect we'll draft a TE in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th round. We have worked out a number of the top TE prospects, and I don't think that's a smokescreen. I think TE is on our shopping list.

They have already said that McDaniel will be playing DE. Look for Michigan's Terrance Taylor in the 4th round. On Sirius NFL radio, he said that Miami has shown the most interest in him. He was the strongest guy at the combine. I have a problem with Brace in that he's going to be drafted higher than his real value. He's never played NT in a 3-4, and has always benefited from having Raji nex

The thing is, if we pass on a receiver at #25, we may not be able to get a high graded WR prospect in round 2, even at #44. Assume that Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin are taken before #25. That leaves 5 guys who are ranked in the first tier of receivers: Darrius Heyward-Bey, Percy Harvin, Kenny Britt, Hakeem Nicks, and Brian Robiskie. Now, of these 5, I think we'd consider them all except Har

I think that if anything, we'll trade down to acquire more picks. I've heard some of the guys on Sirius NFL Radio say that there are only about 23 guys that carry a true first round grade. And then there's a lot of guys in the next range of grades. So, if there's no one left at #25 that we feel strongly about, maybe we could trade down to the early 2nd round and pick up an additional early 3rd ro

Zach didn't mind playing the 3-4 at Dallas. And he had maybe his best season ever for us playing primarily in the 3-4. But, he was unhappy with Dallas playing him at SILB, not allowing him the freedom to roam and make all the tackles he was used to making. Maybe KC is going to let him play the WILB.

WR CB OLB NT TE ILB Here's why WR is such a priority. Number one, our running game suffers because of our weak passing game. We need a WR that the defense fears, for his size and his ability to make plays downfield. Right now, teams play 8, 9, or even 10 men in the box against us because they do not fear our passing game. Ted Ginn is not physical enough to consistently beat the jam, and n

The Saints put a 2nd round tender on him, so we'd have to give up the #56 pick to acquire him. At 5'9, he doesn't have the size that we're looking for. And there are concerns that his production was mainly due to playing with Drew Brees in a pass happy offense, and that he wouldn't be nearly as much of a factor in a different offense. He has drawn almost no interest in free agency, and I can't se

Good article in the Herald today about how the Trifecta has been bringing Chad Henne along the scouting visits to throw to the wide receivers. The article said that it's a six city tour. So far, they've worked out Hakeem Nicks and Brandon Tate at UNC, and Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy, and Cornelius Ingram at Florida. Sirius NFL Radio's Pat Kirwan said yesterday that Kenny Britt had participated in

It would be stupid to draft a TE? Do you realize that both Fasano and Martin can be free agents at the end of the year? And it's not likely that we'll be spending the money to sign both. It's been reported that the Dolphins have already worked out or inquired about James Casey, Jared Cook, and Cornelius Ingram. I think it's a really good bet that we bring in a TE with one of our picks in the firs

It's actually more likely that we'll trade down. There is a lot of depth for DE/OLB conversion prospects this year. We'll definitely be able to get one in the 2nd round.

I just have a good feeling about Nicks. Last week, Pat Kirwan of Sirius NFL Radio, and Parcells' former GM, said that one coach told him that Nicks is the only one of the top WR who has experience running all of the NFL routes. UNC runs a pro style passing attack, and Nicks can run the entire NFL route tree. I think he could contribute from day 1. And I really like the desire he shows on the fiel

A 4th rounder is all we could have hoped for in a deal for Satele. There are 5 top C prospects in the draft, all expected to go in the first 3 rounds. There is no reason for a team to give up more than a 4th when they can get a good C prospect in the 3rd round. So, the net value of the deal as a late 4th rounder is about right. The question is whether it would have been more worthwhile to kee

I would be shocked, and quite disappointed, if Parcells wasted his time on David Boston. He's 31 years old. He hasn't played a full season since 2001. He hasn't had more than 4 catches in a season in 6 years. In the last 5 years he's blown out his knee twice, he's been suspended for steroids, he got a DUI when he was found passed out behind the wheel, he got arrested for assaulting a ticket agent
