We need more of a consistent pass rush. JT, Wake, and Porter all seem cut from the same cloth. They are capable of whipping their man and getting sacks. But, they can also be stonewalled at the line. We need some guys up front with more consistent pressure on the QB. On all the big pass plays, Sanchez was allowed to stand in a perfectly formed pocket for an eternity.

2494. Re: Cobbs?
Who is out there at RB on practice squads around the league that we could sign? I think something of scat back would be appealing to us. Someone quick who can return kicks and catch passes out of the backfield.

Gruden was effusive in his praise for the Wildcat, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Chad Henne, and our O-Line. So, no, I didn't feel that way at all.

The two 3rd down completions on the final drive were special. The first was a beautiful touch pass in the face of an all out blitz. And the second was a laser on a designed rollout. Both were clutch.

Ginn sat on the bench for the first 17 offensive plays of the second half. Seems like Sparano is trying to send him a message.

Thigpen is competition for White at this point, not Henne. And it makes perfect sense. Pennington will still be with the team, and will still serve as Henne's veteran mentor. Thigpen is young, fits the wildcat, and had some success as a 1st year starting QB on a really bad KC team. Why waste a roster spot on an old veteran QB when you can get a 25 year old with some upside?

Again, the backup QB only gets about 15% of the practice snaps with the first team offense. And there could be no greater difference in throwing style than Pennington versus Henne. Henne is not used to playing with these guys, and these guys aren't used to catching his passes. And certainly not in game conditions. And did you see the pass rush Henne was facing? Once they saw the inexperienced QB

People have to remember that the backup QB only gets about 15% of the practice snaps with the first team offense. And you could not have two more different passers than Henne and Pennington, in terms of arm strength. That has to be an adjustment for the WR. To judge Henne on this game is absolutely insane. He'll be much better next with a full week of practicing with the first team offense. Of co

Except that Turner has no value. Mel Kiper said that Turner should not have even been drafted. And while he started out good this summer, he has not shown that he deserved to be drafted. Omar Kelly reported today that Turner was getting his reps at WR after practice squad WR Julius Pruitt and James Robinson. That's not a good sign.

I think where it shows up most is in our running game. Teams constantly load up 8, 9, even 10 defenders in the box to defend the run because they don't respect Pennington's ability to beat them deep.

I don't think the plan will be for JT to be a starter for us. I know that will be hard to get used to, but that's what I think. He's too small to play DE in the base 3-4, even though he's always known how to use his leverage. Joey Porter was such a good pass rusher at the WOLB that I don't think you move him. And WOLB is the most natural position for JT. I think JT will be in the mix at SOLB. But

I think that everyone would agree that we passed on other needs (OLB, NT, IL to draft Turner and Hartline. I don't blame the coaching staff for not reaching for players at those other need spots. But, I really doubt that we'd spend our 3rd and 4th round picks on WR, only to then make a trade for Anquan Boldin. There are a few issues with Boldin (he's slow and is fast headed for 30), the main one

Remember that very few college teams play a 3-4, so finding someone who is a NT is very difficult. Teams have to project which guys can handle the NT responsibilities. In this year's draft, the pickings were very slim. It's funny because the 2 BC guys were considered the top NT, but neither has ever played NT. After them, the next best NT prospect may have been the kid from Western Ontario. It wa

Pat Kirwan on Sirius offered some positive feedback on Turner. He said he was glad that Parcells didn't lump him in with Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett. Kirwan didn't feel that he was a reach in the 3rd because of his size and his experience in a pro style offense.

DolphinSam did a great job collecting that info, but the press isn't privy to everything, so it's impossible to document everything the team did for workouts/meetings. We found out yesterday that the Dolphins met with Patrick Turner at the combine, and then again at his pro day. According to Hartline, we had an extended visit with him. We took him out to dinner, and had a long film session with h

It was for a 7th rounder next year. That's sort of odd.
