It would be interesting to see how Tannehill would fare playing against our defense.

Won't happen. Tannehill will start the rest of the season barring an injury. What he needs more than anything are reps. Time will tell whether he's answer at QB. Actually, more specifically, playing time will tell.

I never really expected much this year anyway, though I'll admit they had me looking through aqua-colored glasses after the jet game. My main concern is that we have lots of picks in next year's draft and we're relying on Jeff Ireland not to waste them. I'm hoping that Philbin has a lot of input because for whatever reason, I trust him more than I do Ireland.

1175. Sadly...
Jake Long looks like a shadow of his former self. Seeing him tossed around like a rag doll was hard to watch. I don't know if the injuries have caught up with him (which I have to believe is the likely culprit) but I think a bigger decision looms for Jake than whether he plays in Miami or elsewhere. Does he really want to do this to his health and body when he's not even playing at an average lev

Well at least we know that there a lot less of our own free agents that we'll want to re-sign for next year.

Miami is playing shitty but the officiating is even worse. How many times will Cam get held before its called. And Long is done.

The idea that any of us can say Tannehill, at this stage of his development, is Henne-like or Marino-like is absurd. Saying that the kid is a bust is patently absurd. The truth is that we don't know. What we do know is that he has the physical tools to be very good. Jeff George had the physical tools but never had the brain or the disposition. Montana wasn't physically imposing but the intangibl

Actually, I think the more reps Tannehill gets, the better. I really don't think he played that badly. As for Philbin, I'm mostly talking about the assistants he's hired, the emphasis on developing players, and the no nonsense approach he's taken with players like Chad Johnson, Vontae, etc. I've never gotten the impression that the job is too big for him... which I really thought was the case w

I find myself finally in agreement with DolfanKing... Philbin and his staff are in my opinion the best reason for optimism with our team. He's bright and I believe he has a plan... If somebody had told me before the season began, that we'd be 4-4, in second place in the division, and one game behind NE, I'd have asked what they were smoking. Win the Tenn. and we're a game over .500 after 9 games.

It's funny how at the beginning of the season, I had zero expectations for playoffs or even finishing .500. My main concern was that we see progress and determine finally whether we had our QB of the future. I'll admit, I bought in to the 3 game win streak and was thinking that a win at Indy would put us in the cat bird seat for at least a wild card. Well, the performance on Sunday (or lack th

Honest question to all who think that Moore would've won the game if he'd started. Do you think Miami would have won the game if the defense had played no betterand no worse than Ryan Tannehill. Keep in mind, he had an approximate 90 QB rating, threw for just under 300 yards, one TD and no INTs. I think that's a slightly better than average day for an NFL QB. Not spectacular, but solid. So, if

I saw Jake struggle last week in the jet game. The touchdown pass to Fasano, Jake whiffed the block and Moore barely got the pass off. He's not playing well and I don't know if its the lingering effects of his multitude of injuries. What's all the more concerning is that this is a contract year for him. You would think that he's playing his ass off to warrant a big contract with Miami or some

Yeah, Tannehill didn't make the plays at the end of the game. But his shortcomings pale in comparison to the massive egg that was laid by the defense. Sean Smith hangs onto the interception and we at least send the game into overtime if not win the game outright. Tannehill at least has the excuse of being a rookie. The defense should be apologizing to everyone for what was a truly monumentally

"The defense didn't play great"?? That's a bit of an understatement. I lost count of how many 3rd and longs the defense allowed. Luck throws 50+ passes and we get one sack? Potential game changing INTs dropped. This loss falls squarely on the defense. There wasn't one facet of defense that was even remotely acceptable. Hopefully, this was an aberration rather than a sign of what we m

Anyone who puts this loss on anything other than the defense must have not seen the game. Yes, Luck is a great young QB, but the number of completely uncovered receivers was inexcusable. The only thing I can't figure out is how you can play defense that badly and only give up 23 points. I also thought Tannehill played well for the most part. He is clearly not 100 percent, which wasn't helped by J

My concern with Jake Long is that he doesn't seem to be playing anywhere near how he's played in the past. One example, the touchdown to Fasano in the jest game, Jake basically whiffed his block and credit Matt Moore for throwing a beautiful pass with a defender in his face. Is he still suffering the lingering effects of an injury?

Oh, and I forgot, one thing... a big thanks to Richie Incognito for giving me the best laugh I've had in a very long time. Blowing kisses and waving bye bye to the jest fans... pure gold....

With Brady entering the twilight of his career, the jets stuck with Sanchez, and Buffalo trying to make due with Fitzpatrick, I like the QB situation in Miami better than anyone else in the division. Man, when was the last time you could say that and really mean it?

Yes, and I would add that he seems to have the right temperament i.e. is very coachable. There have been lots of QBs with the physical tools for the position but didn't have the intangibles (Jeff George and Jamarcus Russell come to mind). This kid seems to really want to excel and is willing to put the work in that's necessary. Like I said earlier, long term, the jury is still out, but I like w

My opinion about Ryan Tannehill is that although the jury is understandably still out regarding his long term success, he is without question the most promising QB we've had on the roster since Danny. Ryan has shown poise, a strong arm, mobility, smarts, a short memory after a mistake and that gunslinger mentality that elite QBs need to have. What makes this all the more remarkable, is that he's

1. Lex Hilliard was supposed to be protecting Sanchez on what turned out to be the last play of the pats game. Ninkovich, another ex Fin, sacked Sanchez and forced the fumble that sunk the jets. 2. Chad Henne came into the raider game after Gabbert was injured and looked absolutely awful. I read some of the jag message boards and let's just say they're not happy with Chad. 3. I've saved

Tannehill is far from a game manager type of QB. He can make all the throws and has the confident attitude or swagger that elite QBs have to have. Caretakers don't win a game like the rams game. Henne wouldn't have won the St. Louis game. I couldn't help thinking that when Tannehill put the ball spot on the money to Hartline in the Cincinnati game and Marlon Moore in the rams game, Henne would h

Also, bad was the officiating... The tuck rule is the most inane, dim-witted rule in football... But for argument's sake, let's give them a pass on that particular review... How on God's green earth do they call the fumble by the St. Louis receiver an incomplete pass? Seriously, the ref was either blind, a moron, or had money bet on St. Louis. Honestly, the crew we had on Sunday was worse than t

Vernon was also a bright spot. Hopefully, he continues to develop to the point that defensive coordinators have to worry about him as well as Wake. I think the bigger need on defense is a top tier corner and most likely a safety.

I can't remember back to when a Miami QB was able to win a game with absolutely no help from the running game. It's remarkable that Tannehill was able to have the game he had with not even the hint of a running attack. The bad is that the offensive line seems to be taking a backward step for every forward step that Tannehill takes. I would love to see what the offense could do if it was runnin
