If Clabo is starts even one more game, it's cause for every coach to be fired immediately. There is no way on earth that Nate Garner would be worse (and if he is, he shouldn't be in the league anyway). I'm sick and tired of every fan seeing things that the coaches for some reason fail to see. I've lost a lot of faith in Philbin and the rest of the coaches.

Contenders don't lose games like this after a bye, against a division opponent, at home, and against a practice squad QB making his second start. Nope, this is a very flawed team both in terms of player talent and coaching. I held onto hope as long as I could but losing this one proves that this team will be overachieving if they go .500. No playoffs again. I can only imagine how empty the stadiu

The question to ask is this: If the Dolphins had an even average NFL offensive line, what would their record be? In my opinion, 4-1 and we're not even having this discussion. I don't think there was any way they would have beaten New Orleans on the road on a Monday night. But Balt would have been a win. And that's the frustrating thing. One unit, in my opinion, stands between an exciting season f

I read an article in the Herald dated December 2012 which pointed out that Garner hadn't allowed a sack in 104 passing plays over a three week span last year. I said it before and I'll say it again--there is NO way that Garner would be any worse than Clabo and I think the empirical data, would suggest that he'd be much better.

I've been a defender of Philbin but I have to admit, I can't even begin to fathom why he wouldn't try to make a change or two to an offensive line this is on pace to break the NFL season record for sacks allowed. We are talking about the potential for an historically bad offensive line. We've given up more sacks in 5 games them other teams give up in a year. It's so bad that Tyson Clabo's play ha

Honestly, it's not that we lost that bothers me the most. It's that I know that until the offensive line can improve to being even average, the team won't be a contender. Defensive coordinators must be salivating about going against our linemen. What's worse, instead of getting better, they seem to be getting worse. Even if it's only for a message, someone should be benched (preferably Clabo).
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
How bad must the back-up lineman be that what we saw on Sunday are the 5 best guys? They kept Yeatman around for two years, claimed Watkins off of waivers, kept Garner for several years and none of these guys would be even an incremental improvement over the 4 stiffs that are starting? I'll give Pouncey a pass because I think he's played well enough, but the rest of the line stinks. This falls sq

They should replace Clabo with Nate Garner. How Clabo ever made a pro bowl is beyond me. No way was Garner any worse last year when he started at RT.

I agree that running a slow developing sweep with your slowest RB is not what I would've called. I'll admit that a few expletives were shouted at the television after the play. That said, I don't think it's particularly fair to judge a coordinator on the basis of one call. He called a pretty good game in the fourth quarter of the Atlanta game (particularly the winning drive). The only thing I'm c

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Saints gig Sean Payton's first Head Coaching job? Totally irrelevant to whether a coach will or won't be successful.

Philbin inherited a mess from Sparano. He's also stuck with Ireland. Personally, with the roster he had last year, I think 7-9 was a coach of year-like effort on his part. I'm as sick about the debacle last night as anyone, but calling for Philbin's head at this point in the season is a bit of an overreaction. The reality is we played against a very good team with an experienced top tier QB. We h

Unfortunately, the O line will continue to be this team's achilles heel. It's disappointing that in an off season with so much money to spend, the only change was to add Tyson Clabo and move Martin to left tackle. Judging how Jake Long's done in St. Louis, keeping him wouldn't have made a difference. I'm so tired of seeing the O line getting abused that I wouldn't mind spending our first 5 picks

I agree. I was very happy we "missed out" on him. He was an average coach with an occasional above average season. If St. Louis keeps playing like they have, Mr. Fisher will be looking at an ESPN gig in the not too distant future.

Fouts has to be one of the worst analysts on the air. Sad when your best work was calling the Bourbon Bowl game in Waterboy.

Shelby seems to make plays whenever he's in there. I tend to agree that Shelby has earned more playing time.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Makes me wonder if Derrick Shelby ought to be starting. I know they raved about Vernon in the preseason, but with all of the pressure that the D line got on Weeden, to not even have so much as a tackle, makes me wonder. Shelby seems pretty active in pressuring QB.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Did Vernon even play? I never saw his name called once and looking at the box score didn't have a tackle. Did I miss him being out?

I know that its one game against the Browns but did anyone else notice how the Miami media seemed to have to piss all over the team with negativity. Armando is the worst but I saw numerous negative articles and this after a win on the road. Armando chose to write about how Wallace, Starks, and Soliai are mad at the team instead of how well the D, Tannehill, Hartline, & Cam played. Maybe it's
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Well, essentially we replaced Samuda for Watkins. Samuda was pretty abysmal this preseason, so it's probably not a bad move. Maybe a change a scenery will benefit Watkins.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
I Would reserve judgment on whether firing Ireland would be a good thing until I found out who replaces him. If it's Carl Peterson, then it's a bad thing. Peterson makes Ireland look like Ozzie Newsome.
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Tannehill is still a big question mark in my mind. He did enough good things last year to make me hopeful and enough bad things to give me some doubts. My main criticism of him is inconsistency with his accuracy. He has all the tools to be great--arm strength, mobility, intelligence, good work ethic--but he has to become more accurate particularly on his intermediate throws. Hopefully, playing wi

There is no way to evaluate how this team will play in Sept, Oct, etc. by what happened last night. No way, no how. When they take the field in Cleveland, and the starters play in games that count, the answer will begin to formulate. Not until. If preseason games were indicators of how well a team would play in the regular season, the 72 Dolphins would have been a .500 team (they went 3-3 in the
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Yeah, I found the negativity to be pretty overblown. Preseason is purely about evaluating players. There is no way that last night's game was any sort of accurate gauge of where this team is. When we see all the starters playing in a meaningful game, then we'll begin to know where we're at. Remember the 1972 Dolphins lost 3 preseason games. I wonder if fans were jumping ship then?
Forum: Miami Dolphins Civilized Discussion
Did anyone hear anything about what happened to Devlin? He looked like he got hurt on his last series but no mention that I heard about what happened.

The NFL is being short-sighted on this issue. A Superbowl in Miami is light years better for everyone concerned than one in Houston, Dallas, New York, Indianapolis, etc. The Superbowl has become more than just a game-- it's an event and a vacation for those attending. There's no better place to vacation than South Florida when it's cold and snowing elsewhere. Who are they really punishing?
