Until Martin or his lawyer decide to be specific (i.e. who physically assaulted him and how) I remain skeptical. They released the voice mail. If they have evidence of a physical assault, why wouldn't you put that out to the public as well. In my mind that would be far more damning. I do, however, hope that they're not just referring to a scuffle during practice. That would only serve to make Mar

If Ross wants to sell tickets and mend fences with the fans, he would have to do more than elevate from within. Personally, I think the jury is in on Ireland and the verdict is "he stinks." I'd spend as much time as it takes to do a thorough search for a competent GM. They're out there but until we cut ties with our glorified ball boy GM, nothing will change.

Well written article and seems very even handed in its analysis of both sides. I honestly think that Martin probably wasn't cut out for the type of intensity and thick skin that being a starting offensive lineman in the NFL requires. He wasn't playing well. He'd been switched to right tackle which in his mind may have seemed like a demotion (though in reality was more a consequence of Clabo's dem

I said this in an earlier post, the media coverage of this thing is so overly exaggerated, it's preposterous. At the end of the day, no one died, no one was physically attacked. Is it newsworthy to some degree, sure. Is it something that should be on every news channel and radio talk show (even the non sports ones), I'd have to give that a big no. It's hard to take the media serious anymore. We u

If Ireland gets fired, it will be the only positive thing that's come out of this mess. What gets me is the media frenzy that's going on about this. It's literally on every news channel on tv and radio. Look, I'd be the first to admit that if Incognito was harassing Martin or threatening violence against him, he should be banned from the league. As more facts come in, I'm becoming more and more s

If I'm in charge, regardless of what "cards" Incognito may or may not have, I cut him immediately. Quite frankly, his play wasn't that much better than the rest of the offensive line anyway. Next, I begin planning the house cleaning that's going to happen as soon as the last game becomes final. Ireland out. Philbin and staff out. Next, I'm making my list of potential GMs that I can get

If we agree that our talent level isn't at a championship level, we all must also agree that Ireland should go. Five years is more than enough time to put a winning roster on the field. Once you get a competent GM in place, you let him hire whoever he's comfortable with to coach the team. My opinion is that Don Shula in his heyday couldn't make this collection of stiffs into a winner. In the end,

I'm not sure with all his problems with fumbles, that you want Tannehill running the ball all that much. I'd ask the question, is it the scheme that's the problem or the ineptitude of the offensive line? If the offensive line is the bigger problem (which is what I firmly believe) than that's on Ireland. I'd love to see how Tannehill would perform if he had more than a second and a half to survey

Since Ireland came to Miami with Parcells, they/he have drafted a total of one player that's made any pro bowl while on Miami or any other team (Jake Long who made all pro in large part because of his status as the #1 overall pick). If what everyone says is true that championships are based in large part by how well a team drafts, Ireland is clearly a big failure. We need a GM that can find playe

Hey, if it gets Ireland fired, I'll buy his first round of drinks. When you consider all the money we had to spend, and all of the draft picks, to put the kind of crap he's put on the field is a disgrace and a true testament to his utter incompetence. And speaking of drunken sailors, we'd be better off with 5 drunken sailors on the offensive line.

Yes, I know about the extension. That said, if I were Ross, I would be putting together a short list of replacements because Ireland would be toast the second the season ended.

Wide receiver and how many we kept on the roster pales in comparison to this historically bad offensive line. Every single one of them stinks. If any of them had an ounce of integrity, they'd refuse to take their paychecks. You know what makes it even worse? If Ross keeps Ireland, it won't get a bit better. That's what we get for putting a former ball boy in charge of an NFL franchise. Another li

Fire Ireland and hire a competent GM. Period. Let him decide on who will be head coach. We haven't had a competent GM in Miami in decades. Until Ireland is gone, we have NO chance to compete. Ross should be more concerned with replacing Ireland than anything else about this team.

Even though I live about 300 miles away from Miami, I still try to go to 2 or 3 games a year. Not this year. I've got better things to do with my money. I doubt that will change until and unless Ireland is fired. All that money to spend and all those draft picks, and this is the team he's built? Embarrassing. I'm glad they changed the logo and the uniforms. These players don't deserve to wear the

I hope they have an empty stadium for the Thurs. night game. This organization has crapped on the fans for the past 2+ decades. I'd love for the NFL network to have to broadcast a game that no one shows up for. Especially in light of the crap officiating that the NFL will do nothing about.

Honestly, I think Sparano was in over his head as a head coach. He probably got too much credit for winning the division his first year (combination of Pennington falling into our lap and Brady getting hurt) and too much blame for all the losing that followed. I still think the one constant that keeps this team from becoming a contender is a front office that knows what the hell it's doing. We'v

In my opinion, Ireland has hamstrung this organization with dubious free agency signings and underwhelming drafts. With the exception of Jake Long, no player drafted by the Dolphins has made a pro bowl since Paul Soliai (who was drafted by Cameron/Mueller in 2007). He's had some decent picks (Hartline, Clay, Reshad Jones are examples of this). But overall, he's been mediocre. The final nail in hi

Sadly, the left side of our line isn't anything to write home about either. What a colossal blunder this offseason was. Spend millions on offensive weapons and have no protection to allow you to use them. Thanks Jeff for ruining my Sundays.

When everything is stripped away, usually the team with the better players wins. Not always the case, but for the most part, I think that this is true. There is always going to be some element of luck that will benefit one team or another. Belichick had NO idea that Brady would work out the way he did (because if he did, he wouldn't have waited until the 6th round to draft him). But, whoever is i

I guess my point was that many different kinds of coaches have won championships. There are lots of ways to motivate players. Plus, coaches can evolve the way Coughlin has been able to do in NY by becoming less totalitarian. The one constant is that good personnel decisions must be made on a consistent basis. Look at some of the boneheads we've had making the calls on player personnel the past d

Josh Kaddu was released to make room for the latest Ireland acquisition. Another mid-round wasted pick by our brainless GM. Honestly, we'd be better off having a monkey pick our players with a dart and a dart board.

At the end of the day, I don't care what a coach's demeanor is like. Tony Dungy was laid back and classy. Mike Ditka was loud and in your face. Shula could be both depending on the situation. All won championships and that's all that matters. How much blame I attribute to Philbin depends on how much responsibility he has for the offensive line decisions made in the off season. In my opinion, not

1106. Idea...
Maybe if we all start a rumor that Clabo is sleeping with Philbin's wife, he might get benched? Or maybe that it was a threesome with Jeff Ireland? You know, kill two birds with one stone kind of thing? Just trying to think outside the box.

Ireland has been given every opportunity to show that he deserves to be an NFL GM. He has failed miserably. If you don't draft well, you don't win consistently in the NFL. I have absolutely no faith in Ireland's ability to draft quality players. He needs to be fired and the new GM should make the assessment on whether Philbin ought to stay on or not. Throw as much money as it takes to hire someon

The reality is that the season was lost when that mental patient of a GM decided to go with Clabo, Jerry, Incognito, Martin, and Pouncey as our offensive line. Quite probably the worst offensive line I've ever seen wear Fins uniforms. That falls squarely at the incompetent feet of Jeff Ireland. If he thought that this collection of stiffs had the talent to even be an average NFL offensive line, t

You're probably right. But the fact remains that Clabo is by far the worst right tackle in football and has likely cost us points and ultimately wins.

Ireland needs to be fired at season's end. Period. A qualified GM needs to be brought in to assess the coaches and make a call on whether any should be retained or not. Same with Tannehill. If he's not a franchise QB, cut the cord and look elsewhere. I'm tired of this crap year in and year out.
