Jake Long looks like a shadow of his former self. Seeing him tossed around like a rag doll was hard to watch. I don't know if the injuries have caught up with him (which I have to believe is the likely culprit) but I think a bigger decision looms for Jake than whether he plays in Miami or elsewhere. Does he really want to do this to his health and body when he's not even playing at an average level? He looks completely spent. It's very sad to watch.
I'm not sure about this yet. When he got blown up last night, he was obviously off balance and the defensive guy made a good play to get his hands on Long at just the right moment to use his momentary vulnerability against him and completely disrupt the play. That said, he certainly isn't playing very well, and this might be the time to divest ourselves of him while he still has a rep around the league and we can get something for him.
It would surprise me if he returns next year at this point. He hasn't had a single dominant week in a long time. 10+ million will be better spent on positions that impact wins and losses more...hopefully on players who are genuinely elite at more impactful positions.

I heard or saw something on the NFL channel or somewhere where some commentator said that the people in Miami were dissatisfied with Jake Long and the commentator was of the opinion that that was crazy and that if we let him go there will be plenty of takers.
Problem is, as I understand it (DolfanMark has been absent from the board a long time and he is our expert) Jake Long's contract is up. If true, too bad we don't have him under contract because we might be able to swing a SWEETER deal than we did for Vontae Davis. AND WE REALLY NEED A LOT OF PLAYERS.
We NEED DESPERATELY a BREAKAWAY SPEED WIDE RECEIVER.
We need DESPERATELY much better defensive corners.
We need DESPERATELY another pass rusher to compliment Wake.
We need DESPERATELY a POWER BACK .....A REAL POWER BACK... not an almost power back like Daniel Thomas or a too big and slow power back like Javorskie Lane..we need a fast, powerful back if we are going to INSIST on running the ball right up the middle....Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller are not built for that.

That makes the most sense. What about Lydon Murtha? Isn't he still on IR?
