I don't know what everyone's talking about. This Finals series (and most of the playoffs for that matter) have been real exciting. Yeah, there's some bad calls in the NBA but the talent level, intensity, and athleticism during the playoffs is off the charts. Personally, I hate college basketball. The product is far less impressive. Frankly, I can't think of too many instances where I'd rather watch the minor league of a sport over the major league.

I agree. If you want to watch the best-of-the-best, you watch the Pro league.
They didn't drop it. We dangled it in front of them for the whole game and Fisher snatched it away in the last few seconds saying (Like the old folks used to say to us kids in the 50's), "Let me take this away from you, 'fore you hurt yourself with it."

The entire series hinges on Bynums knee. If Bynum can't go, the series will probably go to 7 games.

RESPONSE: They are killing us with the mid-range jumper. They are better at 3 point shooting but that advantage is not showing itself in the stats of this series. We are better inside. But the mid-range jumper, Kevin Garnett, in particular, is where they are winning it.
The Lakers shooting performance, except Kobe, is down as well.
Of course, with the lousy refereeing, it's all basically a crap shoot for both teams particularly since they are playing so evenly.
Since I got a Math degree I stopped gambling. Once you know the odds...you realize it's mostly futile. But, I'm thinking of starting again. Before the NFL playoffs started last year I predicted who would play in, and win, the Superbowl. If fact, I think I was the only one on this site who picked the Saints to win it all. Before the Lakers/Celtics series I predicted 7 games...and I think it looks like it's going to go that way.
SUCK IT Celtic fans!!!!
Not too sure how one can be a Dolphin fan and remotely cheer for any team from Boston.
Living in socal since '79, my hatred runs deep with Boston teams: Patsys, Red Sucks, and the Cellticks.
Phil was right about them being 4th qtr chokers.
I was a huge Lakers fan, and Celtic hater, in the 80's, but I actually found myself rooting for the Celtics in this series. I'm not a big fan of Kobe or Phil Jackson. In the past they've been far too arrogant for my tastes. Also, having been a Pat Riley fan from back then, I followed NY when he coached there and Doc Rivers played there. I like to root for disciples of Riley.

Easy.
I grew up watching Dolphins games when I visited my grandpa who lived in Davie and was a big Dolphins fan.
After college I moved to Boston. I never watched basketball prior to this, but it was easy to get caught up in, and I've slowly become a Celtics fan. Then they won the finals in 08 and I was hooked.

Yeah, very easy for me too:
I grew up in Miami during a time where there was no other professional sports team in the entire state of Florida. So 95% of my sports attention went to football, which of course mean the Dolphins.
When Basketball season rolled around, it was in vogue among my friends to root for the Lakers, even back then. They seemed to win all the time back then, so a lot of my bandwagon riding frontrunner friends found it easy to root for them. Me, I had to be different, so I rooted for their rivals the Celtics. when I got a little older and the hype about the bicentennial happened leading up to 1976, I learned more about Boston and became a fan of that city. I eventually moved here.
I became a fan of the Red Sox in a similar way: Everybody and their mother in Miami was from New York, so everyone rooted for the Yankees, who seemed to win all the time. So naturally (for me) I gravitated towards the Red Sox.
I agree that NBA appears staged. But if you think that is bad, then you must have missed what happened to the US in the world cup yesterday. The coach of US Soccer team said it best:
"We're all accustomed to the fact that, if it is an NFL playoff game and there is a call of some question, there will be a statement by the league from the referees. But FIFA operates differently,"
