I still want to see Henne with a real OC, QB coach and deep threat; and I still think that he will be our QB in 2011 and beyond.

They definitely could have had other guys. I gotta think that Pennington's glowing endorsement of this guy meant something to Ireland and Sparano.

Pennington wants to play again. I would keep him as the 2 or 3 guy over Volek. I would keep Thigpen over Volek. The list of FA QBs that will actually be available this year is not very pretty. I can't help but have some curiosity about Leinart. I would be tempted to bring him in for a look-see; but be prepared to make a quick evaluation so that we don't keep him around long if he is ju

Volek is too old, and he hasn't started a game since 2005. Young is like a box of chocolates.

The consistently good teams are the best drafters and groomers of homegrown talent; not the best at paying high priced free agents.

If the Pats decide to let Mankins go it will be because they know that they can fill his spot with someone else that they have groomed and taught how to play the game properly. Then they will watch someone (perhaps the Dolphins) pay Mankins big bucks while they keep their younger player for a fraction of what Mankins will get paid. Oh yeah, and they'll get a compensatory pick out of it too.

Anyone rooting for the Pats must have never lived near Boston during the time that the Pats have been winning SBs. I find it impossible to ever root for the Pats.

We would also need the personnel to field such a team. We would need an o-line that can hold their blocks long enough for guys to get open; and we would need to be able to send more than 2 or 3 receivers running routes without our QB getting sacked immediately.

I believe that is why he did it also dolphaholic; but I think he needed to let that come from Sparano. If he wants to instill confidence in the fans, they will need to believe that there is a capable coach running the show.

Mouth breather? Thanks socal. Very nice. This coach has lost the respect of some of his players and many of the teams fans. In a strange twist of events, he nearly loses his job but then is given a new contract to give him a vote of confidence. Then the owner, who knows less about football than most owners, goes public with his instructions for the team. It's not the instructions that a

If Ross felt compelled to tell Sparano how to coach then why did he keep Sparano? And if he had to tell him how to coach couldn't he have at least done it privately?

We all want a more aggressive offense. That is not the issue. The issue is Ross telling the media how he wants Sparano to run the team. It's a dumb thing for him to do right now. Very dumb.

Bad example? It's a perfect example (as much as I hate to say it). It's an example of a great team with a great owner.

When is the last time you heard Kraft telling Belichick what he wants to see for an offense AND do it through the media? Maybe I am making too much of it, but my first impression is that he needs to keep quiet and not tell the coach who was just humiliated in front of the entire league how to do his job.

Crowder - I love that explanation. I hope you are right. On the surface, this looks like a complete mess; and it's easy to jump to negative conclusions about what happened when we don't have all the facts.

Mallett does look good. Very good accuracy. Is he a bit of a statue in the pocket?
