This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
The formula may be simple. Determining who the good QBs are is the hard part. In most cases, it takes a few years to determine if an existing NFL QB is going to be the guy. Determining if a college QB is good enough to be the guy is even harder. There were a lot of people on this board clamoring for Brady Quinn a few years ago.

Ingram's not a speed back, and he's not a billdozer; so he would need to have Emmitt-like skills to justify being picked at 15 overall. Not many guys have Emmitt-like skills. If he does, then he is a guy that we would want; but would we want him at 15? Even if he has Emmitt-like skills, will he have the longevity of Emmitt? Or will he have 5 or 6 good years (like most great RBs seem to have)

I hate second guessing draft picks, especially the Brown pick because he was taken in a very weak draft. Trading down would have been great, but the fact is that no team wanted the top few picks in 2005.
As for Brown's abilities, I would agree that he was one of the elite runners in the NFL... for 4 games in 2007 Brown was elite. Other than that, not so much. If he had stayed healthy, he

Was Rodgers the guy who dropped so far in the draft because people thought he had an awkward throwing motion, or am I thinking of the wrong guy?

I am not going to debate this subject; but I can assure you that you know nothing of my views on politics.

Their are certain aspects of the old CBA that were ridiculous - like top 10 picks getting paid like HOF players before they ever caught a pass or tackled anyone in the NFL.

Are NFL players fairly compensated? Absolutely!!!
Are there risks associated with their jobs? Absolutely.
Are there more dangerous jobs out there which pay far, far less than the NFL? Absolutely, and it's a long list. And I can't think of one of these jobs that comes with the fame and opportunity for endorsements, etc that come from being a NFL player.
Will some NFL players have to

Sims-Walker is a talented WR, but misses a lot of games and disappears in a lot of games he plays in.
In 2010, he had 2 games with over 100 yards receiving, one of which was over 150 yards receiving. However, in the other 12 games in which he played, Sims-Walker did not go over 50 yards receiving once.
He is a high risk / high reward type of FA. I don't think that is what this team need

In a 3-4, the run defense starts with the NT controlling the line of scrimmage. Not many guys can do that. Soliai did a great job of that last year. That's not necessarily reflected in his own stats because his job is to free up other players to make tackles.
Also, I wouldn't compare Soliai to Suh. Suh is a unique force on the field. However, I believe he plays in a 4-3, which does tend t

I didn't say anything about losing Wake. I said Wake's "payday will come" - meaning that it would come with the Dolphins. My point is that he should keep performing and not worry about another player's contract. He'll be a free agent after 2012. My guess is that he will get a huge extension before the 2012 season if he has a big year in 2011.

It is the nature of professional sports that players get paid more than market value at some times and less than market value at other times. We could certainly say that Soliai was underpaid in 2010.
Right now, franchising Soliai was the only way to guarantee that the Phins keep him. Do they want to pay him $12 million every year? Of course not, but the current CBA situation limited their

I agree that a RB does not need to have great speed to be a great RB. Ingram has often been compared to Emmitt Smith. If he becomes another Emmitt Smith, with the productivity and longevity that Emmitt had, then he would be a steal at 15. That said, we know that he won't be a speed back, and at his size (5-9 or 5-10 and 215) he won't be a power back, so he would need to be shifty, have enough

Passing on Brees when he was a FA was one of our biggest blunders.
However, I will point out that Brees' first 2 years as a starter were not as good as Henne's first two years as a starter. The situations were very similar. Both became starters in their second year; both played decent in their first year as starters; both regressed in their second year as starters - only Brees regressed fa

Good points Victor.
o-line. I agree that the interior line is the biggest issue. A weak interior line kills all facets of an offense.
RB. Ricky and Ronnie are not the same backs they used to be. Neither looks like a legit NFL starter at this point. Perhaps one of the other players could be that guy, but the fact that they weren't given a chance says something.
Regarding Marshall,

How many good QBs in the NFL have crappy lines, no running game and no speed at WR? Most of the elite QBs play for teams that are strong in all 3 areas.

O-line. This is the biggest area of need on the team. Run blocking and pass blocking were both terrible in 2010. This must be addressed. That said, good teams typically build lines from within. They do not pay exorbitant sums for FA linemen - it's just not good business. However, given the putrid condition of our line in 2010, it may happen yet again. It it happens, let's hope that the new

Didn't say he was the man; but I would like to see him in a better situation before we boot him out the door. There aren't too many (any) QBs who would succeed with no running game, poor pass protection, little/no speed at WR and ultra conservative play calling. Bringing in a new QB and putting him in the same situation makes far less sense than improving the situation and bringing back the sam
