It is also possible to line White up in the shot gun w/ Ricky on one side and Ronnie on the other and to have the two RB's run a delayed cross. White can hand off to the 1st guy or the 2nd guy, -or he can throw it to a WR, -or he can run behind either Ricky or Ronnie based on what the safeties do in response, -or he can roll out to either side with the motion side RB providing a pass bl

AGREED !!! Also, consider the amount of time a it takes for a rookie at a position to contribute. OL & QB are possibly the longest And I would argue that LB and RB are the quickest. We can draft LB in round 1 next year and start the kid right away. Plus, let's not forget they did sign Cameron Wake as a pass rusher opposite Porter. I wouldn't be shocked if Roth gets a look

If your 3rd quarterback is used before the 3rd quarter your #1 and #2 QB's are no-longer eligible to play at ANY position. If Pat White is listed as the #3 QB and he lines up while the #1 QB is till on the filed, I think that enables the #1 QB to stay on as he never left the field. But it is more likely that they would list White as something else. RB,WR or as someone else suggested 'Wild

While I agree that he will likely be on special teams in the short run, I think your 'nothing more' is a big over-statement. not sure if you were just using a figure of speech? Bt I think they took him in the 4th because they think he can be developed to be a contributor. No doubt he will contribute on ST, but I think in a year or two, he could be a red zone specialist.

Here's the thing. IN a traditional offence, you have a drop back QB who can sit back and throw accurate strikes to open guys. And you find WR's who can beat double teams and lock down guys. The Trifecta has invested money in our OL, and we have solid RB's. If you have a GREAT Running game, and you spread the formation out, teams have to bring the safeties up and now you have a lot more man

Hartline is a big lanky guy who doesn't have blistering downfield speed with his 4.5ish 40 times. BUT In the 3-cone drill he was the 2nd fastest WR at the combine, and in the 20 yard shuttle he was the 4th fastest and in the 60yard shuttle he was 1st. So we have a big target with great hands who has great change of direction speed....who is a sophmore. Not saying he is a starter next

This could be one of those 'steals' that is written about in 10 years. the guy is an athlete the guy can throw - long, short, quick outs. He is a tiny bit short for QB. but if don't plan on going shot-gun ala Dan Marino/ Manning....who cares. Move the chains, put 6 points on the board any way you can.

Why? The guy fits the mold of Parcells type of guy. Big, athletic, fast. remember Jason Peters was a TE converted to RT, converted to LT and became a Pro-bowler. I'm not saying that it has to happen that way...but if you spend the 61st pick on a possession WR that isn't a travesty right? If Smith was a 'sure thing' at CB he would have gone much sooner. What I like about him to be h

Last year we drafted a bunch of DL in what looked to me to be a philosophy of 'bring in enough guys to find your starters and depth at one position rather than hope you got it right with 1 pick' Looks like they are following that model again this year. We have 2 guys who could should challenge everyone in the secondary and give us a very deep bench. We drafted a guy who could become a

Sean Smith was a WR...maybe theyu are planning on switching him back? Stretch the field? maybe they want to spread it out first?

This guy is a HUGE CB. here's a thought. IN college as a rookie he was a RB. Then they switched him to WR, then they switched him to CB. At 6'4" 214, 4.51 in the 40 Any chance they plan on switching him back to WR? His attitude and ethic looks great...maybe he is the Ernest Wilford/Michael Irvin big possession guy? interesting prospect. At CB he looks pretty good, but almos

I think the Pats traded up to beat us to Brace. But..can't change that. Soliai is bigger than Brace...and has enough experience that bthis should be his breakout year. Brace gets taken...so what do you do? Anyone one the board that slipped down? Yep...Pat White. Ok, does he help us? Yep. Anyone on he board that we rated higher? Nope. Done.

I'm happy with the pick. He's a great athlete. He had a great sophmore season, which is evidence that he can produce in the right circumstances. He was able to do it once, now he is older, better coaching. He should work opu quite well.

let's keep it in football. If you were the GM of a timetravel league would you take Dan Marino with your 1st round pick or Tom brady with your 6th round? I understand value of picks but you can't ignore value of talent. Can Tom carry a team the way Dan did? I don't think so.

WHAT?!? Sure Miami used a 1st round and NE used a 6th...but there is no comparison. Tom Brady is an execellent QB. No doubt. He has been 'decent' when he had no run game, and average WR's, and he has been 'excellent' when he has had Moss and Rb's. not to mention a very good defense. Dan Marino had a few seasons with good/great WR's. he NEVER had a running game or defence to support him,

BP doesn't try to find the 'star RB', he believes in using 2-3 backs throughout the season. It makes sense. 1) RB's have had short careers because of the constant pounding. When you DO find a great back, rotating him out will extend his career, providing longer stability. 2) If you have a great OL, you can get great production out of a 'good' back. Look how many time we saw a GREAT Ricky Wi

Agreed, And let's not forget...they are planning to have Henne as the starter in 2010. that tells me that they, although they want to be as competitive as possible in 2009, they don't think we are at the point when you start trading your future stars ( high picks) for immediate production from current stars. 2010...the following are free agents: Larry Fitzgerald, Braylon Edwards, Lee Evan

Here is my latest conspiracy theory. first, the person who leaked the info about failed tests ( or had it leaked for them) is a GM. Nobody in the league has a vested interest in leaking extremely confidential information; not enough to risk their job anyway. This was clearly about getting players to lose draft stock and slide down the boards of other teams. Look at the players who tested

how many other actually played on the same team? the Blackwoods not only played on the same team, but they both played on D efense and were on the field at the same time. that is a true tandem!

I agree with your position in most situations, but, does the FO feel it can win a SB in 2009 w/ Pennington. And this is where my scenario addresses this. Since they already stated that Henne would be the starter in 2010 there must be a transition plan. If Pennington is playing well and they are scoring TD's in the Redzone and stretching the field then I think they keep him in place. B

That is interesting. Not only can 12 rookies not make the team... But 3 2nd rounders and 3 3rd rounders will eat into the rookie pool and make signing them more challenging. 7 guys in the first 3 rounds nice problem to have........I hate them!

If you notice the word 'AND'( twice) it indicates multiple conditions leading to the change. One would be our team being 4-2, 5-3...and the other condition would be that the offense is 'mediocre'. Another would be if we can't stretch the field, or if we face a lot of Man coverage and can't burn them then it would indicate that the running game and the defense are the reason we are 4-2, 5-

Chad P is going to start week 1. And that is the point that they start gauging his play against what Chad H showed in pre-season. If Pennington is accurate, moves the chains, and we score 6 points in the red zone...then Henne will have to wait. If the offense is 'decent' but struggles to stretch the field, or take advantage of 1 on 1 coverage, and we are looking like a 4-2 or 5-3 team, or i
