All of this is true....BUT.....I still hold the Trifecta accountable on the Wilford thing. The saying is "past behavior/performance is the best predictor of future behavior/performance." It was widely known that Wilford was not a great practice player and that he was a 'gamer'. I've coached my share of them and they are frustrating in that you are trying to set a tone in practic

What I see from that is that he can throw, he can run, and he can think quickly under pressure. A great mind can help him translate his ability to the NFL. I'm excited

Maybe we can get Al Pacino to come and give a speech to the players about a game of inches? I don't like it. I would prefer they build a Seaworld type them park all around the stadium and call it 'Aquatic Stadium'. Ross has plenty of cash....why not just keep it Miami Dolphins stadium? Can't he, the owner, charge the team a fee for naming rights and take a bigger slice of the pie for him

JT is no longer the difference maker he once was. We are not really worried about 2009. That's the truth. We are still rebuilding. So if JT signs with the Pats ....it won't truly impact us that much. If he was that valuable, we would have signed him by now.

"And how did Clemons drop to the 5th round?" Zach Thomas? Not saying Clemons will be anywhere close to Zach, but, it does make the draft projections a little less authoritative.

If his amoratized signing bonus is $1.325million and he is signed thru 2011, that means his Cap hit for cutting him is $3.975 million minus his salary of $1.31 million which is $2.665 million to let him walk (plus any roster bonuses that already kicked in) He was one of our best ST tacklers, and he can play all the secondary positions. Most years we keep 5 CB's and 4 Safeties. This yea

Absolutely right! If you know you have 3 years to address 6 key areas why take a chance on drafting all 6 each year hoping you got it right? Year 1 they drafted OL & DL and QB - they got it right as far as the OL, DL. Year 2 they drafted a bunch of secondary, WR's and QB. If they find what they want at those spots..then it is a huge success even if we missed out on a guy who could pl

Yup, the worked regular jobs like the rest of us for 2 years...and he committed to being the best Football player he can be. That's the type of self-discipline we need. If he makes it as a starter and has an impact on the field, he will be in a position to be a leader. A little older, a little wiser than your average top-rated, highly drafted, played my whole life guy.

Jason Allen is a good special teamer who gives depth at all positions in the secondary. I am not sure they would save much cutting him this year. He may not be their guy, but until they can save money by cutting him he will be the most expensive nickel or dime back in the league.

Technically if Pat was a traditional QB in our normal set, then yeah. But, if Pat doesn't establish himself as a QB on normal formations, then he is in the game to execute the Wildcat as a Runner who can throw and not the other way around. So let's see what position he earns, and then we'll know.

Agreed. Why pay $10 million and give up a pick? It is always about 'added value' or margin of improvement. It isn't like we don't have a wide-out and we would be adding something new. It is giving something up to get something better. How much better? Could Ginn turn out to be as productive as Boldin would be IF he had someone relieving some pressure? If not? How much more would Boldin g

Agreed, there are always guys who don't get the same opportunity to grab the national spotlight. Or even to establish themselves in a school system. Turner is athletic, has good hands, and is big. He doesn't have to speed past a DB if he is 7 inches taller and his hands reach a full foot higher. Parcells was at the Senior bowl. he may have been there to scout Pat White, but I am certain th

I like the idea that they drafted two guys who can match up speed and size with guys like Moss. As rookies they will get toasted, but, in 2010 they will be more experienced and Randy will start losing a step. By 2010 we will have the strongest secondary in the division if not the AFC. The 'character' stuff allowed a top 10 guy to drop to us at 25th. Thank you very much.

My guess? I think we see Pat White run traditional passing sets, and perhaps a handful of Wildcat plays like Ronnie ran, but, I bet they limit him to running the ball or handing it off...no passing out of the Wildcat in pre-season. There is also the benefit of Henne working his butt off to keep White on the bench.

Bill Parcells is an innovator. Lawrence Taylor was HIS idea, and it changed the League and brought the 3-4 D. The West Coast Offense was a change brought by Bill Walsh ( and Air Coryell to some extent). Both systems make use of players with particular assets that make them somewhat unsuitable for their respective positions in a traditional system. The Wildcat is the introductory phase

Agreed. If Vontae Davis becomes our Sam Madison, and Sean Smith our Patrick Surtain, or 'Ed Reed'...that alone makes this draft an 'A'. That is irrespective of what happens with the rest of the picks. Now, if Turner, or Hartline become a solid possession WR? A+ If White becomes an impact 'Wildback' or starting QB?? This draft will be crazy good. It will be up there with the Marino

Paul Soliai's suspensions were the result of immature attitude and behaviour. While some people stay idiots their whole lives; even they grow up a bit in their 20's ( usually because they encounter someone who they've pissed off) in 2009 Ferguson with Soliai should be good enough to get through the season. In the offseason we likely will sign and draft NT. Unless Soliai, grows up, and final

oh yes, agreed. I was just xplaining why I didn't really take the possibility of drafting White seriously. it just didn't seem like a Parcells move. But mostly, I am tired of the stream of consciousness posts that overshadow the valuable opinions being expressed.

EG, people thought we reached last year as well with Merling & Langford. That panned out quite well. Vontae Davis was considered the CLEAR #2 CB in the draft, and some thought him to be the most talented CB in the draft,..but....'character' issues dropped his value. What character issue? No drugs, no assault, no DUI, no laziness. His issue was the coaches thought he wasn't playing full

Yup, I agree. I think with Wilfork no-one saw that pick happening. But that may mean Wilfork is a FA next year, so maybe he wouldn't mind playing Florida?

Ok I am up here in Canada, been coaching for 20 years. I have my eye on kid who was under-coached in high school ( not mine), rival school. He is in 3rd year playing OL in the Canadian University league, and has atracted the attention of 2 CFL teams. 6'5" 290lbs and the kid is athletic, and powerful, and lean. If he had grown up in the US he would have been developed into much more th

I would assume then, that Ted's Sr. & Jr. got the Trifecta to pay closer attention to Hartline?

I think the key thing in assessing the draft is to understand what our system dictates as 'key positions' In a 4-3 D, MLB is crucial. IN a 3-4 system you have 2 ILB's, so you can give up a little bit in terms of LB talent IF your NT is getting it done. ( kinda like the TAMPA 2 system makes lock down corners less important). IMO, they would have taken Brace if he was there but they weren't t

Hmm. did he split his locker room? Nope. hmm. was he vocal on the sidelines? nope. HIs coach benched him during his junior year....what about after that? hmm. nothing. so, we drafted a
