last season we had one of 'easiest' schedules which had us playing the weak Arizona Cardinals, and the last place in the AFC North Baltimore Ravens Turns out that they were two of the top 4 teams in the NFL, so our 'intended' easy schedule turned out to be harder than it should have been. Hopefully a similar thing happens and some of our tough opponents slide down easing our season a bit.

1)I believe that some of this is player management. They want Henne to work hard and be ready and keep his attitude positive. They want Chad to be hungry next year...so Sparano says " Pennington is my starter" but the float out there ' Henne is our guy of the very near future. Both guys are working hard, both feeling valued, both knowing what is inevitably going to happen. When Chad P h

It is difficult to be a quick thinker in those circumstances, but on the last play of he half? ....do anything you can to grab him and not let go. legs, jeresy, facemask, whatever. Take a penalty. You only go for ball if you are a bulging muscle powerhouse and you can get your hand inside the ball & body. BUT....there were 10 other guys on the field, Boldin quit, Hightower appeared t

Bess came on strong as a YAC player. Camarillo was better early, but if we sign/draft astarting WR, don't be surprised to see Bess beat out Cam. Any chance we hit a 4 wr set on a regular basis? Not really a Parcells' style, but Bess, & Ginn can do a lot with the ball in space...Camarillo gets open....a 4th guy upgrading the group would really open up the field. 2 -3 deep routes, a crossing

Agreed on the value of the NT. I guess I am hoping that with the cnage in coaching, the new chemistry among players, and getting suspended, that maybe Soliai will mature a bit and become the dominant player he has the tools to be. Coming out of college, the knock on Soliai is that he had poor conditioning, relied on natural ability rather than develop technique, and that he didn't seem focuss

I can see that move as well. Parcells likes big solid ILB's who can take help at the point of attack. And stop guys at the LOS. When Zach was younger you would see him get the back in the backfield, but as he got older, the tackles happened 3-5 yards passed the LOS. And zach wasn't an effective blitzer. Crowder has good numbers...but again...it isn't just making the tackle its WHERE it

It has been a long time for the Cards as a franchise, but if you look at the 'team' of Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, John Runyan they have been to the Superbowl and the NFC Championship several times with no ring. In that context, THESE Eagles have had it within their grasp longer and more times. Kurt Warner has a ring, the rest of the Cards are young with possibly better years

That is a very good and valid point. The issue that I look at; however, is not their age but their production relative to the production at other positions. While it is true that they will be 'getting up there'; they outplayed our LB corp. Having a young Channing Crowder wasn't good enough. So, IMO we need to upgrade there. It may be that they feel they will have accomplished that by

Some guys get 'pigeon holed' in one position and if they came from a small school or have the wrong measurables for their position it usually takes someone thinking outside of the box to use them. Look at Jason Peters with the Bills. he was an undrafted TE and now he is their Left Tackle. They switched him in camp. Mark Dixon played CFL, as have so many others. It looks like he had an i

yeah, Brady has an injured 'defensive signal stealer' and it is making it difficult for him to adjust to the team's blitzes.

If they combine the averag salaries of all OL spots..then that helps us out even more. since Guards make less than both LT & RT. The 'Franchise' tag means the he gets the average of the top 5 players at his position or 120% of last year's salary ( whichever is greater)...I am not sure he is worth that since by your statement the top 5 salaries across LT,RT,C & Guard would really be the

agreed. We were in field goal position already. It wasn't a bad play call. Reverses might get stopped for nothing, but they rarely lose big yardage. I was hoping that Ginn would pick it up and throw it incomplete; but he couldn't grab the ball quickly enough. Anyway a FG would have made it 8 points.

agreed. I think he should be returning kicks & punts. Bess has quick feet but doesn't see the seam the same way Ginn does. Ginn was doing great and then something happened to his returns. He started running to the sidelines again. Not sure if it was coaching or contact? I over-stated a bit with 'Ginn is Crap'; that was an emotional response to my disappointment in his development. I

I agree with North East to a large extent. The game was winnable. We had several scoring chances that were lost because of our mistakes & their great play. OUr D forced 2 3 & outs when we needed them. We moved the ball well enough in the 2nd half. We are close enough.

Letting Carey go and drafting a replacement sets us back a couple years. Unless there is a young guy on our roster they feel is ready to take over, it will take at least one season to learn and gel. I think if they make him a decent offer he will forgoe the FA market to stay in a program that is headed in the right direction. There is the possibility of using the Franchise tag on him. Payin

Hey, long time EG. Our agreement is scary or a sign of age? Just kidding. I think Chad was great this season, but he is best once the run game provides a threat. Against the Ravens our run game did not scare them off and Reed just sat back and waited. I am hopeful that on defense Roth will improve from this year as a LB. He was switched After training Camp started so physically he was bu

While I agree that the hand-off became a slight pitch it is always drilled into the players on any reverse to 'look it in' just like a catch. Ginn saw that it was not going to be in his basket and put out his hands, at that point his eyes needed to be glued on the ball untill he had his mitts on it. It is NOT that unusual for a young player to take his eyes off the ball too soon. I can live

There is a HUGE difference between 'getting rid of'; which I haven't read many people say ( correct me if I am wrong) and 'He is a #3 WR' , or 'he is a bust as a 9th overall', or 'he is playing poorly'. I think he should be returning punts & kicks because that is where I have seen he most 'explosiveness', I haven't seen the same thing on offense. Chambers was double teamed most

I wanted to like Ginn. He has potential, but really with his speed he isn't getting open deep, he doesn't fight for the ball, and he isn't terribly effective as a return guy either. I suppose he has shown improvement, but really by the end of his second year we should know whether or not he is 'the guy'. Ginn finished as our leading WR, but only because Camarillo was injured and Bess was

Chad is the reason we got as far as we did..no doubt about it. yesterday he forced a couple throws, and had some 'bad' throws...no doubt about it. If we had a better running game ( Interior Lineman) Chad might not have been trying to make something happen. That was a winnable game. 1 pick was a great play by Reed. The other 3 were on Chad ( 1 with Ted's help). The fumble on the reverse

good points. I can live with moving Bell over. But we need to draft a genuine long term starter.

Agreed. People need to remember that adding 1 key player upgrades those around him. We have a 1 st, and two 2nd rounders. If we upgrade ILB and FS our defense suddenly becomes a top 10. If we sign one interior OL, and draft/sign a WR...then everything else gets better. IMO those are the key holes. ILB, FS, WR and Guard/Center. 4 holes are not too many to improve us enough to keep

1046. Thoughts
Some people are ready to blow up the team, but the sky is not falling. It is a drag we lost...no doubt. But this was a winnable game. We were in scoring position 3 times down by 17 points. Chad threw a pick, we scored a TD, and our ridiculous reverse play took us out of scoring range. Over-all our team was good enough to play and beat the 11-5 Ravens. Our defense did not cost us the game. Our

Agreed. When was the last time we had an inside LB get to the QB? We got accustomed to Zach not being very good at blitzing and we accepted it because he was amazing from sideline to sideline. The same is not true of Crowder. Better ILB play would improve the pass rush for everyone else and would improve our secondary.

Crowder needs to be replaced as starting MLB. he never has been the answer. If you stick Ray Lewis in our Defense, Akin Odelle and Joey Porter suddenly become better. Joey got older & more attention paid to him but who took advantage of that? No-one. Next season Langford, Merling, Soliai, and even Roth will be better. Ferguson is good for another season while Soliai fully develops under th

I am not going to get into specific names yet; but, it looks like we will have a low pick...so you can forget about a star #1 WR that route. Not a sure thing anyway. Unless there is a run at a couple positions like OT and CB. With a pick in the 20's you can still get a starting LB, FS, OG, a #2 or Possession WR, RB. I think our most glaring need is MLB. Crowder is not the guy. They would ha

Joe just gave the Ravens some bulletin board material. That has to be his goal, fire them up by saying the Phins are more balanced. IMO, We aren't really all that balanced in any consistent way. Our run game can look stagnant and then we break a big run. Our passing game can look mediocre and then we hit a big play. Same on D. We allow long runs on 3rd & long, and then stuff them or take t
