Miami Teams

just wondering, since apparently there is nothing to talk about, with the Heat making the conference finals, how many of you are Heat fans---or fans of other Miami teams, or just the phins? I grew up in Miami and obviously have been a huge phins fan my whole life. When the heat came to town in 1988 I became a fan. Growing up there was no marlins so I became a Braves fan since they were the closest team and always on TBS. I now hate the marlins (especially for that damned dirt infield) and am still a Braves fan. I hate hockey and the panthers and hope that team folds. Big Miami Hurricanes fan growing up following them in the 1980s, and still follow them today.

Anyone else like all Miami teams, or just some? Go Heat!

I've been rooting for the Heat since their first season! I'm not one for memorabilia , but I DO have have a 2006 NBA championship T-Shirt.

I remember the team with Pearl Washington, first ever pick Rony Seikely, Grant Long, Pat Cummings, Jon Sundvold, hell even Jim Rowinski. I remember just turning 16 and getting my drivers license and driving with my buddys to Metrorail to catch the train to the Miami Arena and see the games. Those were the days!

Grew up in Miami during an era where the Phins were the only sports franchise in the entire state of Florida.

With Miami overloaded with New Yorkers rooting for the Yankees and Knicks, I couldn't bring myself to follow suit, so to piss them off and to be different, I became a RedSox and Celtics fan early on. As for hockey, meh--I went ice skating at the Polar Palace a couple times, rooted for the US olympic teams but that was about it.

Then when the hype about the bicentennial in 1976 focused on the history of Boston, I became fascinated with the city itself, eventually visited then moved here. Continuing to root for Boston non-football teams was an easy transition, but there was no way in CRAP I was going to think about rooting for the sorry Patsies, not with my childhood memories of watching the perfect season in person with my dad, and listening to Rick Weaver & Hank Goldberg on the radio--no way!

Goes without saying Phins.

Thunder, then Lakers, then Heat.

Baseball ICGAS. (first words are I could give) although as a kid, I was a fanatical St. Louis Cardinal fan and my hero was Stan Musial.

College Football, Purdue, then maybe Cal.

College Basketball, UCLA (because of Johnny Wooden, All American from Purdue) then Purdue, then maybe Cal.

Rest of the sports ICGAS.

RESPONSE: Just can't make up your mind after considering the style of play, etc., huh?

Can be tough sometimes.

Hey, actually, I've been looking for the games but have never seen one yet.

If I do, I'll better be alone.

I get flak whenever Halle Berry appears on the TV as it is.

I always get accused of lusting after her.

No friggin' way.winking smiley

Im sure you enjoyed those rivalries when morning hardaway ....alan houston and larry johnson used to play...Knicks always came out on top
including that hail mary shot by houston on the 7th game of the series which the ball bounced up and then bounced in LUCKY SOB...

Had a hard time sleeping throught that one for a couple of days.

I don't think that Dallas really won that four game series as much as the Lakers, particularly in that final game, gave it to them.

Whenever you play against a hot 3 point shooting team, college or pros, you don't play zone or you come out of the zone if you are in one.

The Lakers, arrogantly, stayed in the zone the whole game even after the Mavs were setting record in 3 point shooting in that game. They lost by almost 40 points and DESERVED to lose by that much.

Sorry live in St. Pete but have been a Dolphin fan since 73…or so while growing up in Illinois....so

Go Bulls...Cubs...Illini and TB Lightning

Don't like Marlins for messing up Dolphins field and kicking Cubs out of playoffs after idiot Chicago fan interference.

Will admit I haven't followed Bulls since greatest player in NBA history retired and don't have much energy to follow anything but Dolphins....year round job!....unless Cubs or Bulls somehow make it to playoffs/finals

Are you familiar with the pitching coach from Angels? We played hs football together. He was a NT and I was DE in a 52 defense. He was drafted by Cincy Reds....Mike Butcher
