I think it would be a pretty unique circumstance for a team to switch QBs during a successful season absent injury to the starter. If we're making a successful push toward the playoffs with Penny at the helm, I just can't imagine the coaching staff sticking Henne in there at mid-season unless Chad's injured. Only in Eli Manning's rookie year can I remember that happening. They sat Kurt Warne

In 08, he increased his catches by a factor of 1.65 (65%) and his yardage by a factor of 1.88 (88%) from his rookie year. If he increases both in 09 by a factor of 1.5, then he'd have 82 catches for 1185 yards. Yardage would be 9th in the NFL this year. I'd like to see more like 8 receiving TD rather than 2 each in 07 and 08. However, he brings scoring capabilities on his runs, too. I th

I like that the Giants employed and were committed to a 2-back system with both backs getting 1,000 yards this season.

He had a part in developing Jordan Gross. You'd think that if the Phins were thinking of going after him and letting Carey go, they would have kept Maser around.

It's inspiring to me to see folks pursue their dreams. Though more applicable in college basketball/NBA, when underclassmen or juniors make the jump to the professional league prior to graduation, I hold no ill feelings against them. They are seizing an opportunity to pursue (and in many cases fulfill) lifelong dreams.

I feel like I've learned something today, then. Thanks! It also makes me realize that the Cowboys of that era had a TON of talent to work with on offense. Three hall of famers (if you believe Emmitt will make it in) at their three skill positions. A truly dominant OL. Top-tier FB and TE... Jeez, that's pretty much every position on offense.

There was a blatant miss during our first game against the jests...3rd down conversion completed...Thomas Jones scores a play or two later. The announcers always say 'There's about a 1-second delay since the ref looks at the playclock, then looks down at the ball'. This is ridiculous to me on two counts: (a) aren't these guys essentially paid to uphold the rules of the game? can't they us

To go one step further, I think our own Greg Camarillo is very comparable to Housh. If you extrapolate his stats for this year, he'd have had 80 catches for 892 yards and 3 TD. The Bengals throw to their WR in the end zone a lot more than we do, so it stands to reason that TJ would have more TDs in his better years. Their size is very similar. Greg's 5 years younger. Now, is that a reflect

I disagree that the Patriots deserved to be in the playoffs. You only deserve to be in the playoffs if you make it. I think they may have performed better in the playoffs than us due to their playoff experience and perhaps even their talent, but we deserved to be there and they didn't.

Good point - I don't know if it's the average of the top 5 salaries for all 5 positions, or if the top 5 in reality is probably the top 5 LT salaries that are applied to any OL position. I don't know, then, if it's good for us or not. I agree that I hope Carey comes back next year. I think he's shown a lot in hit time here and I'm not sure there's anyone who's nearly certain to be measurably

Someone on Omar's blog mentioned that Jason Brown of the Ravens is a free agent after this season. He is 6'3", 320. I think he would be able to hold his own against some of the premier DTs and NTs we'll face next year.

Lousaka Polite had success when he ran up the middle, converting two more 3rd and 1 attempts and then getting 11 on a 1st down run up the middle. For whatever reason, Ronnie and Ricky weren't getting it done up the middle, but I would have tried Polite a few more times. No telling whether it would have been any more successful than those two with more carries, but they hadn't stopped him from g

Living in KC, I get to hear a daily ear-full on sports radio about Peterson. The primary gripes about him are (a) he focused too much on the business side and (b) he didn't field a Super Bowl contending team often enough. The biz side appeared to impact his personnel decisions, as he seemed intent on saving money and driving up profits. To my knowledge, the Chefs have been well under the sal

Pennington didn't throw for as many yards and TDs as Manning. However, Rivers did and so did Brees. Rivers stats came on an 8-8 team in a horrible division. Brees' Saints didn't make the playoffs. Therefore, I don't consider them as valuable to their teams as Manning or Penny to theirs. The Colts division is NOT the toughest in the NFL. Houston only plays well when nothing is on the line

I think I'd be ok with going into next year with the crop of WRs we have now, assuming their continued development. Ginn looks to me like he's on the right trajectory. I thought the trio of Camarillo, Ginn and Bess was just about right for Pennington. In fact, I think Pennington has definitely been good for Ginn. In retrospect, I like that he has basically forced (and helped) Ginn to develop

I agree that we're not balanced in a consistent way. However, I think that's to our advantage and is our strength (as you point out). On offense, the one part that sticks out to me is Pennington's consistency. In my opinion, this is what allows us to be so balanced if seemingly inconsistently so. He uses all of his weapons, but seemingly more according to the best option at that moment tha

Should be 2010. 2007 we played the NFC East...this year the NFC West...2009, NFC South.
