There's a difference between being polite and endorsing someone. Shula was nice when commenting on Sparano, but he NEVER said that he was "the right man for the job". And Shula never gushed about Henne the way he has about Tannehill.

Turner is a pretty good OL play teacher, IMO. I've seen him work up close during my attendance at the media po

But these are the growing pains you get from a rookie HC hire. I expect he'l

Really interesting to see the local media in such an uproar over how Ross is going about his business; they're mad as hell to be locked out. LOL, especially Armando.

There really isn't a conflict. Any GM worth his weight will always gain the HC's opinion on players, cause that contributes to the success of the player and, consequently, the GM. If the GM chooses not to listen (e.g. Ireland) and picks a load of players he wants who can't play or aren't ready to play...that's the GM's fault. Example: Ross: Joe, why didnt you play Dallas Thomas? Philbin:

I don't have the problem with Jim Turner that others do. He is a very good coach IMO, knows his stuff. When I've seen him live at work, I've been impressed with his teaching style. IMO, I just don't think Ireland gave him very much to work with.

During my last visit to the Dolphins facility there were rumblings of discontent between Philbin/Aponte and Ireland, but no one in the press room had the hard evidence to report it. Now, someone (or more than one)...not sure who...has decided to sing for some reason.

I agree with Ross here...I don't think it's necessary or wise to give one person total power, unless it is a very special person and circumstance. What makes these GMs more capable of leading than a HC could? Why should their demands for total power

IMO, the concern about hiring a good GM with an HC already in place is way overblown. If I were the owner I would be like Ross: I would want the GM and the HC reporting to me directly (or to someone I trusted implicitly).

I wouldn't draw the hard conclusions that Salguero has been. 1) Whoever is talking to Salguero has an axe to grind and, therefore, an agenda. No insider (or former insider) sings to the media without a reason. 2) There's probably more to the story than has been reported. There almost always it. 3) Politics are a way of life in billion dollar businesses. Every organization has it. 4) R

Philbin worked for Ross, not Ireland. Given Ross's confidence in Philbin, together with Dawn Aponte's and Don Shula's, this reporting relationship is unlikely to be changed.

There are a LOT of fine internal and external GM candidates for Ross to consider. I won't pretend to know the merits of the supposed external candidates; I'll wait to see who is actually CONFIRMED as a real candidate, but I can tell you that Dolphins Asst GM Brian Gaine would be someone the Dolphins ought to talk to. He and Director of Pro Personnel Anthony Hunt are the strengths of that dep
