First, recognize that the local media wanted Philbin fired. They didn't get their wish and hell hath no fury like a opinion columnist scorned. Second, recognize that the Dolphins aren't telling the media very much...which pisses them off to no end. They have a job to do and the Dolphins aren't making it easy for them. Third, the media don't trust the Dolphins, with good reason, and I would

Early reports out of Mobile, from conversations with scouts across the league, is that this is a deeper OT class than expected. That's good news for the Dolphins, who could use a couple (at least one as a starter).

Another overblown story by the media IMO. The scouts can handle it. I'd rather see Philbin locked in a room with Lazor right now. They're talking scheme, yes, but also personnel. Who can play? Who can't? What are we missing? What are our priorities? Very important stuff given that the offense was pretty anemic and the draft and FA fast approaching.

I find these reports, being dredged up by a restless media, to be unreliable. Who is complaining? Players or their agents? Too many players didn't get the job done this year. They need to look in the mirror before complaining.

If I were to give Stephen Ross any advice, it would be to love the candidate he hires. Don't settle.

Only time will tell us if passing on Licht was a smart move. That's also the case with ANY GM the Dolphins hire.

The Jets recognize their issues are more talent-related than coaching. Ryan is a good coach. Easy decision for them, BUT he is on a short leash...essentially 1 year guaranteed.

Did you see what happened to the Pats after they lost Talib yesterday? And the job Sherman did on Crabtree? In the playoffs, you need a shutdown CB to take away the other team's #1 receiver.

Asking players what they think of Philbin is a bit odd. My take: who cares!!! Too many of the players didn't get the job done this season. They don't have license to talk about others when they stunk it up themselves. I like Barry Jackson's work but it seems to me like he is trying to stir the pot on this one.

Dolphins have a strong scouting dept., a positive legacy of the Parcells/Ireland years. What they NEED is a GM at the top who can make good decisions. Since none of the candidates have ever been a GM before, this will be a leap of faith by Ross. I'm glad Peterson is advising him, but the proof of a good choice won't be evident until the guy goes through a draft and a FA cycle. He'll probably be c

IMO the first priority is LG cause great OLs are built from the inside out. Filling Richie Incognito's shoes will be hard; pro bowl OGs don't grow on trees. Next IMO is RT. Clabo tried hard but he isn't the answer. I think the Dolphin OL will be much improved if they can fix those two positions at a minimum. Keep an eye on Dallas Thomas: His stock is at an all-time low, but I think an

Difficult to see Bess in a mug shot, with apparent mental issues. He was a good Dolphin, and a great rep the community. I hope he can get the help he needs to get his life straight again. Praying for him.

Good coach, well respected by pro and college coaches. This is a loss for Dolphins, but happy for Edwards.

Good analysis by Dolphin Digest's Andy Cohen this week: "We saw what Tannehill could do last season with sketchy pass protection and the lack of a consistent rushing attack. I can’t wait to see what he does with more talent around him. That falls in the lap of the general manager. It is the job of the offensive coordinator to put Tannehill in the best possible position to succeed. Us

Interesting that Dolphins and Bucs have moved on from Gamble...something turned both clubs off. So much goes on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to. Too much ready-fire-aim by media IMO. Disappointing.

Interesting development re McAdoo...kinda reminds me of the whole Matt Flynn courtship two years ago, also from Green Bay. Many thought it would happen, but in the end Philbin passed. Not going to jump to conclusions re "lame ducks" or anything like that...wasn't in the room and most of the rhetoric being spewn by the local media hasn't been reliable.

I personally find it difficult to evaluate Tannehill fully and fairly when he spent so much time on the ground or being hurried. It's a real problem in judging his full body of work, especially in comparison with his peers taken in the 2012 draft. I cannot emphasize enough how important it was to Dan Marino's development as a rookie to have a quality, veteran OL in front of him to generate a r

Rumors everywhere about who is the lead dog in the GM and OC searches. The ONLY speculation I've seen that has legs IMO is McAdoo and Philbin not being in a big hurry to meet about the OC job. They know each other very well and are probably comfortable doing their own respective interviews before deciding if they want to work together again. This would make perfect sense. Again, I'm pleased
