Our inability to run between the tackles isn't just about the interior linemen. Until we can get the safeties away from the line of scrimmage, our running attack will be problematic. Even with good interior line play, if the defense has 9 defenders in the box, we still won't be able to run it. We need to improve the downfield passing game to help the running game, in addition to bolstering the li

Mike Mayock had William Moore as only the 5th best safety right now. Another reason why we'll take a WR high in this draft. It takes time for a WR to develop. Rookie wideouts rarely step in and make a huge impact. If we want a young #1 guy, this is when we have to draft him, so that he'll be a bigger factor in 2010 and 2011. There are no options in free agency that fit our needs. Houshmandzade

Isn't the bigger issue with Satele is that he has short arms?

I think bringing back Bell as the SS, with Otogwe as the FS, and bringing back Hill as a 3rd S in the dime would make for a pretty strong group.

People may not remember this. Before last season, Parcells talked about how he evaluates players. The first thing he looks at is, "does the player have the prototypical size and physical skills for the position?" Jim Leonhard is 5'8, 186 lbs. He is about 4 inches too short and at least 20 lbs under what you want from a prototypical Strong Safety. The team likes Renaldo Hill, who is a

Pass rush is a major need for us. But, we are also all set with Merling, Langford, Starks, Holliday, and Dotson at DE. Given the financial commitments to those first 4 guys, I don't see us taking another DE. Rookie DE are notorious for struggling to rush the passer. Remember when everyone thought Mario Williams was a huge bust? DE get by in college on pure athelticism, but in the NFL, they need t

Well,it didn't really get weaker. The draft starts out with seniors only, and gets strengthened with underclassmen declaring. You can't count on underclassmen coming out.

With Donald Thomas and Justin Smiley, our line this year was superior to last year. But, that lasted less than one game. Ndukwe was awful, even worse than Rex Hadnot last year. And when Smiley went down, Alleman was even worse than Ndukwe. Go back and watch Sunday's game if you recorded it. Count how many times Alleman completely whiffs on his man. It was absolutely ridiculous. It's very difficul

Chad had a horrible game. He had a great year, but he made terrible decisions yesterday. When you throw into double coverage with Ed Reed on one side, while you have single coverage on the other side, it's not a QB trying to make something happen, it's a QB making a bad decision. And he made 3 bad decisions yesterday, and that's really unacceptable from a veteran QB whose specialty is taking care

Kenny Britt from Rutgers. I've got a really good feeling about this guy. He's not flashy, and he's not the fastest. But, he's big, tough, and catches the ball.

OL- big questions on the health of Smiley and Thomas. If they are both healthy, then the line is looking a lot better. And the experience that Ndukwe and Alleman got will be very valuable for them in bench roles. Well, maybe not Alleman, because that guy is a human turnstile. WR- We need a big, physical WR who can make plays deep over the middle and downfield. Bess was a terrific find, but he

Goodman was our best cover corner, just like he was in 2006. He'll be re-signed. Bell will be expensive. The Herald had a story today that one personnel guy thought we may have to put our franchise tag on him if we want to keep him. He's a playmaker. He'd be even better if we had a better pass rush. I hope we can work something out. Carey will re-sign. He'll get pretty decent money, but he'

I know that in the KC game we didn't rotate linemen. We kept Ndukwe, Satele, and Alleman in place the whole game. I tried to pay attention to that this week, and I think we stuck with the same thing. Based on that, I'd say it's not going to happen. But, Alleman did have two penalties, so maybe he gets less playing time.

I still think WR is a huge need. I think one of the main reasons we can struggle running out of the base offense is because every team lines up 8 or 9 guys at the line of scrimmage. They just don't fear our ability to make plays downfield. Ginn has the speed, but he's undersized. I think we need a big WR that can be physical and still be a threat downfield. When we can hit some big plays downfiel

With Ronnie, Ricky, and Cobbs signed for next year, we won't be drafting a RB that high. And with Martin, Fasano, and Haynos under contract for next year, we won't be drafting a TE, either. Our needs will depend on what happens with our own free agents, like Carey, Crowder, Bell, Goodman, and Hill. I know people like to bash Hill, but the coaching staff and players cite his moving back to the

I wouldn't even count on Smiley for 2009. The last report in the Herald, which was awhile ago, hinted that he has ligament damage as well. If that's the case, then his 2009 season is definitely in doubt.

You have to remember that Peter King is a New England guy. He was born in Massachusetts and raised in MA and CT. He's also right about the Brees thing. The Carolina punter shanked a punt for 20 yards late in the game. At that point, New Orleans was throwing on every down. If it had been a normal punt, Brees likely would have broken the record. He was on a Boston sports radio station last we

What's deceiving about the schedule is that it's still tough whether or not we finish in 1st place or 3rd place in the division. Next year, the AFC East plays the AFC South and NFC South (this year, it was the West from each conference). So, regardless of what our record is or where we finish in the division, we'd still be playing Indy, Tenn, Jags, Texans, Falcons, Panthers, Saints, and Bucs. The

He is the best ILB we have, that's for sure. If we bring him back, I think we look for a major upgrade next to him. I think if we had a real instinctive, 10-tackle-per-game guy next to him, it would be a pretty f
