But has he ever been a deep threat? Just wondering. I thought he wasn't a speed guy.

I always thought of ocho as the floyd mayweather of football....arrogant and confident at the same time, Iactually kinda like the guy. He has talent and I think he will be a fine addition if the bull$hit locker room drama doesn't follow him to Miami.

From what I hear , he never really caused any Locker room drama. He's a diva and a media hound, but not really at the expense of his Team mates. Playtime is over though, He seems motivated to show he can still play.

Wondering if someone is willing to work with Chad to get him coached up on the playbook prior to camp.

It would be nice to see if any of these QBs or other receivers are team oriented enought to help make him effective, and overcome the learning curve.

So much for Chad changing his stripes.

His asinine comments towards Goodell yesterday are precisely why I preferred to take a shot developing a young guy rather than bring him in for one year.

I'm sure he'll say it was a joke...or a sign of solidarity for some Saints players he's friends with, but it really shows nothing has changed with him. He's all about the spotlight, not about the team even if he's not the nut job Marshall was.

He's been here two weeks and he's already an embarrassment. If I were GM I'd tell him to shut down his twitter account or hit the road.

I'm not feeling good about this. This guy hasn't even played a down for us and he's already running his mouth. This is worse than BM.

Wow, healthy skepticism. Haven't seen from Dolphin fans that in a while.

Did we really expect Eightfive to be different?

No, I didn't but once he was here I was willing to give him an opportunity to prove me wrong.

So far, he's well on his way to proving to me my original position was justified.

He's going to have to produce at a VERY high level if he's going to keep on keeping on when it comes to the drama.

I don't think he has enough in the tank for that but we'll see.

Quote from the link that sums if up, even if not from Chad himself,

"We’re assuming that Ochocinco is planning on scoring a lot of touchdowns and following them up with elaborate celebrations as opposed to doing any of the other things that get you fined in the NFL. There have probably been safer assumptions, but that’ll be the one we work with until further notice."

Really, Vic?????? Really???????? Some guy bragging about how many touchdowns he will score or that he will engage in endzone celebrations relating to fines IS WORSE THAN Bowel Movement putting down his teammates, his coaching, DROPPING TOUCHDOWN PASSES IN THE ENDZONE and then blaming his failures on anyone else around?

Worse than??????

I can see someone having skepticism about having a "head case" on the team and I have no doubt he is a "head case" but let's not say that John Dillinger was a far worse person than ADOLF HITLER!

Hello, I am your average ignorant and uninformed NFL fan. We all know that all problematic receivers are one in the same. We must group them all into the same category so we may avoid the phenomenon known as "thinking". If a player is outspoken then they are a cancer. If a player repeatedly breaks the law by beating his wife and instigating murders they are equally a cancer.

If you are being sarcastic in your last sentence, then I agree Futt. Otherwise, not sure that being outspoken which Ochocinco is, is as bad as beating your wife PLUS dissing your teammates' and coaches' worth, which Bowel Movement has done.

Man, I really want this guy to play well now that he is a Miami Dolphin.

But, he just can't keep his mouth and twitter finger shut.

I wish he would just concentrate on being a football player. He is so immature mentally that he feels the need to be the center of attention to validate who he his.

You would think that coming off his New England experience with an underwelming performance with Tommy Brady throwing the ball that he would take his career a little more seriously. Not to mention that the Bengals were a better team without him....

Work hard. Shut up. Let your performance on the field do the talking.

If he keeps mouthing off and not learning the playbook...then I hope one of our young players elevates past him for a roster spot.

He's old. All he has left is a sideshow act.

But Ross loves sideshow acts. They sell tickets.

Vic,

According to our own website "past rosters" he was not on the team at the end of the 2010 season. BM was on the roster at the end of the 2011 season. He was listed as a "trade or pickup".

So, although it is not for certain, it seems we picked him up AFTER the end of the 2010 season.

The "Past roster" for 2011 is dated January of 2011.

The article about him beating his wife was NEWS on April 23, 2011.

So that means, if I am correct, that we signed him prior to January 25, 2011 and he got into trouble (beating his wife which is significantly worse than bragging about doing touchdown celebrations) AS YOU SAID "after we signed him and before he played a down for us" in the fall of 2011.

You're not dense.

I just think it is ridiculous to compare a guy who's in the headlines for doing silly things to a violent guy who repeatedly breaks the law.

For the record, I won't miss BM at all. For all of the good plays he had, I'll always remember him for the big plays he made that were reversed.

Spiking the ball, throwing it, screaming, temper tantrums, etc.

Good riddance to that POS.

Chad Johnson is relatively harmless in my opinion. I agree with JimB in tahat my preference is: " Work hard. Shut up. Let your performance on the field do the talking."

That however is not the typical MO for just about most of the top WRs in the NFL these days. I'm beginning to think that some of them need it to raise thewir level of performance. Not sure of that but it looks like it.

As for #85. I think he's relatiovely harmless, despite the fact that he talks too much. I also think he is talented, is motivated and that we just may be glad we took a chance on him.

He has never been "a locker room cancer", most of his team mated like him, despite shaking their heads at what he says.

I see him as the antidote for Hard knocks, as the team will elevate a bit and he will absorb the story crap they would make up if there wasn't any real story.

On another subject - I think it is time to bring out the new moniker for the "no-name dolphin receivers" . This year we have no BM, no duper, marks brothers, warfield etc ...

Can thye west coast offense bring the "no-names dolphion receivers" to emerge as an elite receiving corp?

I could see it.

You do know there are people out there that say extremely and offensive things to celebrities on twitter ALL. THE. TIME.

He cusses them out? Please. Talk to me when he starts beating them like BM did. Over, and over, and over again.

Ochocinco's language use on Twitter is very "colorful", funny, and often compelling. And yes, sometimes inappropriate for kids.

The rise of social media has all but washed away the NFL of the past in terms of how we (fans) interact directly with players. It's a nightmare for guys like Dolphins PR man Harvey Greene because he can't control media access anymore. Many players today will even grant direct interviews without having to clear it first with PR.
