I don't think Omar has it right on this one.
I don't think anyone considers OchoCinco to be a Diva because he tried to force his way out of Cincy. So the comparison to Palmer isn't appropriate.
He's perceived as a Diva because of the SELF promotion. Because of the name change and the silly antics on the field meant to promote himself above the team.
Those actions give the impression, rightly or wrongly, that he is a "me first", high maintenance player. THAT is what makes him a "diva" in the public's eyes. Not that he wanted to get out of a bad situation and move on to a better team.
As for that issue, at least Palmer handled it the right way. He walked away from the organization and was set to retire rather than play for them. Ocho worked his drama during the season which couldn't have helped the team succeed.
I don't think Ocho is a bad guy because he's high maintenance. I don't think he has the personal, off the field problems of a TO or Brandon Marshall. He's probably a very nice guy. But that doesn't mean he isn't high maintenance or a diva.

That and we gave him zero guaranteed money.
Its definitely a win-win to have him here for camp.
If he makes the team he's a cost effective veteran. If he doesn't he costs us nothing and maybe he teaches the youngsters a thing or two about beating press coverage before he's cut.
There's two types of sides in this story. You've got the people who are more subdued, who are old school, keep your flash to yourself when you score, etc. Then there's people that don't give a rats ass what they do as long as they produce.
In my opinion, if we start having a debate about Ocho's excessive end zone celebrations, that means he's scoring TD's, and at that point isn't that a good thing to have to argue about?
Odenn, you're right. I'd rather be talking about excessive touchdown celebrations than Bowel Movement dropping touchdown passes in the endzone and then going to the Pro Bowl and blaming all his failures on his quarterback. I don't think touchdown celebrations are divisive to the team but criticism of your QB is.
Well at least the media has finally shut up about Miami not having a receiver who requires attention. And so much for players not wanting to come to the Dolphins. This dude was practically on his hands & knees begging to play here. lol

Only because he thinks he has a shot at being a #1 WR again.
Ochocinco is a me first player. He couldn't survive in NE because Bellichick requires players to check their egos at the door. Only Brady and Bellichick are allow to have egos on that team. 85 just could never fit in on that environment.
Now that he is playing for an owner that is more interested in hype than winning, expect the bad behavior. And if you don't think he'll throw his teammates under the bus in a heartbeat, then you need to look at some of the things he said about Carson Palmer while he was a Bungle.
Expect more disrespect to be brought to a once noble franchise.

No. They are interested in hobnobing with celebs and changing the fight song. The team is run by media whores - so it makes sense that they sign one of their own.
He didn't leave NE due to attitude issues, he was released after it was apparent he wasn't the type of player that would fit into a precision based, complex playbook. I don't get where you see that he had any, and I mean even one, attitude display in NE.
It's obvious you're jaded DolfanKing, but you still have to be real. Even at 34 and coming off his worst year(which was bad due to him not fitting into the offensive scheme), 85 is still the best wideout on our roster.
> Expect a more of the same from the Dolphins Offense. The FO has fixed nothing.
Hmmm why the negative? The Dolphins may not have fixed everything, but they have certainly made a lot of moves to make this offense better.
1. New offensive minded HC and Offensive coordinator (better? yes)
2. WC offense vs 3 point high-fiver (better? yes)
3. Offensive personnel (better? yes)
- Multiple new TEs, drafted new young QB #1, Offensive RT, TE, etc
4. New coaches pushing up tempo and conditioning vs crappy slow start
You see this (and more not mentioned) as nothing?
I think some people are a lot tired of promises and no results. That I can get. But it just isn't true (whether this translates into wins or not) that the FO have done nothing.

The last coach was an O-Line guy. Hard to say that isn't offensive minded.

I'll believe it when I see it. You don't get better just by changing a label. You get better by getting players that can play. Eightyfive is a washed up primadonna. But he's guaranteed to attract cameras.

It remains to be see that replacing a bunch of no name TEs with no name TEs will make things better. And simply drafting a QB in the first round does not make him good.

Every new coach does this. It doesn't mean a thing if the players can't win.

Yes. For all the change, this offseason has been a yawner. This team took a step from being mediocre to being mediocre.

You're right. Even a dog chasing its tail is doing "something".
This is more of the same. Promises, but no results. Instead we get the media whores in the front office doing nothing but PR stunts.

Amazing how some people have forgotten that when talking about how we've "gotten better".
Being optimistic (as a fan) about the direction the team is headed is a far cry from saying we have done nothing, we are mediocre and are going to suck again this year.
One thing is certain. It doesn't matter how big of a splash a team appears to make in the off season. You may appease the short sighted fan base but the results won't be in until the results are in....so to speak.
Look at the big FA splash Philly made last year and all the talk of how dominant they were going to be. Big name free agents, the unstoppable Michael Vick at the Helm...bla bla bla. Saying they underachieved would be an understatement.
Historically that has happened a lot in the NFL. What was the year Shula went all in? 93 Dolphins?
2011 Jets? Every Redskin team since Daniel Snyder bought the team?
The fact is that we are an unknown commodity, New HC, OC, DC...new QB's...new offense...new defense....new everything. Nobody knows if Gerrard or Moore will play well. Nobody KNOWS if RT will be a franchise QB. Nobody knows if 85 will be the 85 of 2011 or the 85 of 2010.
Only time will tell. Until then I will continue to be optimistic. I still call bs (Columbo signing etc) where I see it and try to be somewhat objective but I'm not going to bash every move we make.
In his interview with media at camp, Chad talks about getting to work on his basics, and getting back to something he lost and also talked about getting back to "Chad Johnson".
I think this guy that everyone has labeled(rightfully so) as a primadona, has been humbled by what's happened in the last year. I'm telling everyone now, this guy is going to turn heads across the NFL this season. He's a man on a mission.
That's what I'm hoping for. I can see a rebound year from him. Sometimes a player just doesn't gel in certain systems.
He didn't get on the field in NE but he was on pace for a 1000 yard season in 2010. He had 831 yards but only started 12 of 14 games. He basically missed the last 3 games. That's not that long ago and he's still in great condition.
He only had 276 yards for the Pats but he had a career high in ypc....18.4. Looks like he made the most of the times he did get on the field.
He seems to be well liked by players and is known for being a hard worker.
Comeback player of the year candidate? Would be nice. It's not too far fetched to see him as our leading receiver considering the names we have at WR.
85 is a guy that has averaged over 1000 yards a season for his career even including missing most of last year. 67 career TD's and over 11,000 yards.
So this 85 guy used to attend Dolphins home games during his bye week when he was with the Bungles? I find that pretty cool. Maybe he really ain't shitting when he said he loves this team. More importantly he's popped some eyeballs on the practice field.
As long as he's putting his heart into his work here I'll cheer for the guy to make a comeback. Old or not, a six time pro-bowler should draw some attention away from the "kids" and perhaps teach them a thing or two.

No. There have been several players to have that number since Duper.
