I might add that Buffalo is the only team worse than us that we have lost to this year. The frustrating thing is that I felt like we should have won the games against NO and Indy and Buffalo. Last year, we found a way to win the games while this year it feels like we find ways to lose them. But, a fair amount of the reason for that has to be the fact that we're playing better teams.

I can't point to any specifics, as I have deleted most of the games from 2007/8 from my DVR, but I just remember thinking a number of times 'wow - nice catch' and at least one time (which does not a trend make, I admit) 'wow - nice adjustment' (that one was in the Bills game where he caught for 175 yards). I do agree that they have him do a lot of comebacks and out patterns. I've always thoug

I was wary of Marshall based upon his behavior, but I am basically convinced that he is changed. Deion Sanders did an interview with him toward the beginning of the season in which Marshall shared some pretty deeply introspective thoughts and feelings with which he had wrestled, and he proclaimed that he had humbly changed. He may never be a perfect angel, but i believe that he has fundamentall

With respect to the D-line rotation, I felt the same way - little rhyme or reason. I didn't even know who 93 was, but he was getting pushed around or out of position every time I saw him. I truly believe - as indicated by the RW throw and a bunch of other nonsense - that the whole team took the Bills lightly. It sort of felt like they thought they could fart around all game and somehow win.

In Hartline's last five games, he's averaging over 25 YPC. That's unsustainable, but I think he should be the target for those longer intermediate routes more often than not. Bess' hands are coming back to their amazing form, but he is slow, slow, slow. I don't think he should be sent 21 yards down the field very often. If we need to pick up 3rd and 4, he and Camarillo are great targets...the

I actually liked that Ricky was on the sidelines for our last offensive series. We are going to need him for the next 6 games, and punishing his body for three straight running plays behind a banged up OL in a game in which both sides had significant casualties is like playing with fire.

I have said this a couple of times in months/years past, but i think RB is worth more to us than he would be on the market. So, I think we'll keep him at a reasonable amount, at least relative to what he'd get on the market...or, more to the point, what we'd have to pay on the open market for a reasonable replacement. He's a very important part of the WC, he punishes defenders when he gets a he

Yep, I think this is a game when we find out if they're going to be competitive for the playoffs the rest of the season or if they're going to pack it in.

Perhaps it's a matter of perspective. I think that throwing for 300 yards and 2 TDs in the time he was allowed to touch the ball is amazing. We held their running game to 61 yards and he wasn't utterly unstoppable throughout much of the course of the game, but he directed 2 TD drives in the 4th quarter and ended up with a 133 rating and a ridiculous 13.6 yards per attempt. I think it was a

1334. Defense
I'm looking at defensive stats on yahoo and shaking my head. A lot like the offense last year, we're not getting point results commensurate with yardage. We're middle of the pack in terms of total yardage allowed, 7th in run defense, tied for 7th in sacks (one more and tied for 4th), fumbles/INT/defensive TDs we're basically middle of the pack. Pass defense sticks out. The part that I rea

Good discussion. I'm watching the Browns/Baltimore game...man am I glad we don't have Quinn. Say what you want about Ginn, but he is just a WR. A bad decision at QB is tough to recover from.

1337. Re: Sperry
Dude made some really great catches yesterday. Bess - although he fumbled/muffed again - had a couple of really great ones, too. I really had high hopes for Fasano after last year, but Haynos and Sperry look very promising.

Obviously, I wish we had completed them, but we saw a long pass attempt to start the game and then another one that was on the backward pass that Henne was looking to chuck downfield. I'd keep it up. I can't help but think that it helped open things up early.

So, how do you negate the problems? Flea flicker? Roll Henne out? Hit the hot read just once or twice for big gains behind the rushing D? Max protect and just send one or two receivers out? I'm no coach, but there has to be a way. I'm not trying to put words in anyone's mouth, but it seems like folks are saying that the problems are so great that we basically have no business attempting this

Question(s) to the board... Why does it appear that we try so few long bomb passes per game? I think it would do us a lot of good even if we hit a relatively low percentage. My theories as to why it appears that we try so few: - we actually do call an 'appropriate' number of those plays but something happens (blocking fails, WR is covered too well) that the attempt is aborted - the coa

The idea of 'seeing whatcha got' isn't a bad one, in my opinion. However, I wouldn't want Sparano to do that to the detriment of winning games now. We are not eliminated...far from it. We have a decent chance of winning our next 3 in a row. If we do that and are at 6-5, we are in the playoff mix. The Jets are likely to go 2-1 (losing to NE), so we'd be tied at 6-5 with them. NE has Indy,

Didn't vote yet...awaiting some add'l commentary before I make up my mind. However, initially I don't see what he brings to the table at WR that is so incredible vs. what we're putting on the field. He did fine at running the option and perhaps I'm not giving him enough credit for the 33-yard run. His other 5 runs went for 12 yards. What we appear to be missing is the WR who can go up for

I think we HAVE to look at FA AND draft to help our WR corps. It's widely accepted that it takes 2+ years for a top WR to blossom. I may be rushing things per the Trifecta's timetable, but, to my relatively untrained eye, 2010-2013 are looking like prime opportunity years for our team.

1348. Re: Henne
We will get our receiver(s)...just not this year. I truly believe that this team is being built the right way, and that WR was not a priority but will be this offseason. Our DL and OL are strong. Sure, I wish they never had any area for improvement, but they are built the right way and their performance is very good, though sometimes inconsistent. I believe that they will continue to deve

I agree that his first year was a mess and will add that he probably had to actually 'un-learn' a ton of junk from then. And, I'd love for him to be a true #1 for us. However, he had Pennington and Henne for two offseasons and all of last season was Pennington - one of the most accurate QBs ever, and Henne has demonstrated that he can put it in catchable position with relative consistency.
