take a look at his last 3 season's and tell me what's not to like?

2008 272 465 58.5 2972 18 12

2009 336 541 62.1 3802 21 12

2010 293 498 58.8 3652 20 9

in only his rookie season did he have more INTs than TDs

get it done for a 3d

And the right price cannot be heavy on draft picks.

Denver is really gambling on Tebow or they have another trade up their sleeve.

A Boiler competing with my Henne???????? I love it. I think that Kyle gives us the option to have a competition to see which one of them guides this team for the future. (Trust me, Luck at that good in the first place and we've got enough talent with Danny Thomas and our other draft picks that we'd never smell him any even if Henne screwed up the season).

Orton gives us the option of having a Vet both as a backup and as competition whereas someone like McNabb would only be there for insurance.

We trade for Orton Chyren, and he won't be a backup

Well, I betcha we won't trade Henne for him, Dolph. And if he comes and loses out to Henne, he'll be a back-up de facto (meaning in fact).

No, we are not trying to get him as a back-up, if that's what you mean.

We would get him to compete and if he lost out, he would be a back-up. It's not like we are getting some old vet to provide insurance as if Henne just went to the Pro-Bowl last year. That's not what I'm saying.

WOW! I mis-read this the first time. I thought you had written "Orton for a 3rd? Book it Dano."

Dude, we ain't giving up Henne and a 3rd.

The rumor is that they will give up Orton FOR ONLY A THIRD!

I really find it hard to believe that the market for orton is just a 3d, while the asking price for kolb is more than a 1st. Orton is better than Kolb right now, and what has Kolb really showed to date that he is ever going to be better (or as good as) Orton? that said, Orton for a 3d in a heartbeat, if I am the phins

Yeah my scenario was just speculation, I agree with berk, Orton for a 3rd is a no brainer imo

The third rd pick for Orton is becasue of him having a one year, huge contract to deal with...Is what I was assuming...
Kolb, I just dont get, the guy has a losing record, has more interceptions then TD's.
ANd you are right Kolb is due over ten million on a one year as well, so why in the world do people believe he is worth a 1st rd pick...

I would rather have Orton over Kolb, but to be honest i am not convinced either guy is any better then Henne...

If Henne isnt worth 8-10 million year, I surely do not see how Kolb or Orton is.. But I am just a fan, and my look comes from the cheap seats...

Yes, Orton for a third is a no brainer and should be jumped on immediately by us...even though I do like Kolb's potential for growth better than Orton's, his asking price is too high IMHO.

Henne, Orton and Delvin is a group of quarterbacks I can live with for the time being.

orton's had more than just 1 good year, in fact in some ways his prior year was even better than last year

2009 336 541 62.1 3802 21 12

2010 293 498 58.8 3652 20 9

Yep I agree Orton is defintley better then Kolb, Orton is solid, I started him a few times in Fantasy and he did well for me both those years... At one point he was a top 3 Qb in fantasy, that years when Denver had Nolan and Mcdaniels and marshall..
Watching this pitt game, Henne threw well, the olin, running game and offensive play calling was attrocious

i had orton in fantasy last year too and sold way high on him in a trade, so maybe that's why I like him so much

I do remember years ago CB was pimpin for Orton and us drafting him, so I am sure he will be thrilled if we actually trade for him

Guys, I think Henne is gonna be good this year, I have watched alot of his tape from last year. and he plays well against some really good defenses at times. He needs to be let get in a rhythmn more. I watched Henne go 15/15 coming out at halftime, TO have some bad play calls, and receivers run bad routes and get us 2 field goals... The team seemed to choke alot in the redzone, or blow plays, really weird stuff. Our team was way better then its record, when you go back and watch the tape. We are good but then we just completely seem to breakdown at times. Consistency is the problem with our offense and special team. My simple minded conclusion, I think i would rather spend the 9 million a year on the oline in FA then Orton this year...

I like Orton but not for the Phins. Might seem strange but I agree with Phinsfan that Henne needs to make it or break it this year. If Orton comes here he will not be happy at all unless he starts. If he starts then what happens to Henne. We won't know any more than we do now.

I'd rather see Henne be the starter for good or bad this year.

Get him now!

Breakout year for him....he is at that stage in his career....2500 attempts or something like that.

I bet they are negotiating a new contract as we speak.

Brandon Marshall 2009 w/ Orton
targeted every 6 offensive snaps
67% complete, 8 drops
11.1 yards per catch

Brandon Marshall 2010 w/ Henne
targeted every 6 offensive snaps
65% complete, 14 drops
11.8 yards per catch

2010 passing splits
passer rating, Fourth quarter of close games (trailing or ahead by 7 or less points)
Orton 58.5
Henne 58.4

Passer rating, inside opponents' 20 yard line
Orton 91.5
Henne 89.0

passer rating, 3rd down
Orton 58.0
Henne 73.0

passer rating, 3rd down and 3-7 yards to go
Orton 45.8
Henne 119.7

passer rating, when blitzed
Orton 72.8
Henne 74.4

passer rating, under pressure
Orton 12.2
Henne 23.7

passes thrown more than 20 yards from the line of scrimmage
Orton 25 for 63, 6 TD
Henne 8 for 38, 1 TD

Obviously, Orton has a huge advantage over Henne in deep passes. But, check out some of those other numbers. Henne actually led the NFL in completion percentage of passes thrown between 11 and 20 yards from the line of scrimmage. Orton completed less than 50% of those. Henne was also one of the best QBs in the league on 3rd and 3-7 yards, while Orton was one of the worst. So, is Orton's success with the deep ball due to better deep threats, more time to throw, and more chances? If so, is he really any upgrade? Keep in mind that 3 years into his career, like Henne is now, Orton's passer rating was in the low 60's.

This is my fear. They give up a 3rd rd pick for Orton. Orton is making $9M, and Henne is making $550k. Is there really going to be a fair competition? Or are they going to hand the job to the guy making almost 20 times more money? I know people on this board really hate Henne. And I actually would like to see Orton as competition for Henne. But, I'm not convinced that Orton could beat out Henne in a fair competition. And for that feeling, I'd hate to give up a 3rd rounder for him, plus all that money. And, if Denver does trade him, that will make it two organizations that felt Orton was not the answer at QB. Look at the Cutler deal. Orton was a spare part in that trade.

Kinda had this discussion with Chyren earlier, but if we do get Orton I'd just as soon get rid of Henne, I think you'd have to name Orton the starter and keeping Henne on the roster could divide the locker room. I'm sure we'd keep him as cheap insurance but that could turn ugly.

I see but earlier I thought you were saying that we would trade Henne and a 3rd rounder for Orton.

As far as getting rid of Henne or NOT getting Orton, why take either chance? We now have TWO question marks, Henne and Orton. Neither one has definitively proved that they will be "the answer" for us.

So that being true, and if Orton comes as cheap as for a 3rd rounder, why take the chance that we either pass on Orton, and find out Henne is not the answer or that we either grab Orton and release Henne and find out Orton is not the answer.

I think it makes more sense to bring in Orton, let them battle it out, play next season with the winner starting and the loser in a back up role to then be dealt away the FOLLOWING season.

To release Henne or not grab Orton would be to unnecessarily gamble.
