Defense and kicker are by far the least important thing to come out of a draft with. Anyone who takes them any earlier than the 3d to last pick is just dumb. The top fantasy defenses are usually picked up on waivers in the early weeks anyway. To focus on D and K and say your team sucks bc they are not great is pretty dumb.

I agree that defenses should not be taken before you have the rest of your starting lineup in place but a great defense can make your season as well.

I did very well with the Bears defense back when Hester was a return freak in addition to a high scoring defense. It was the year that Denny Green had his meltdown in AZ.

My defense outscored most of my WR's almost on a weekly basis.

Yeah but when you drafted them eesti I'm sure you didn't know Hester was gonna go off like that. D/ST TD's are way too hard to predict, sacks/turn-overs are another story.

In a 14 team league where the waiver wire and free agents are gonna be THIN, very thin. Not much out there, I wanted to leave the draft with a great bench. Be ready for injury's and bye weeks. Plus, I think Houston is a better than average fantasy defense and if I'm wrong no big deal....I will just play matchups on defense week to week with whats out on the waiver wire.

I'll make a side bet that the top fantasy D this year won't have been among the first 5 taken

Go to the team you want to trade with. Near the top of his info it will say "propose trade"

Click on it, then your roster and his roster will line up side by side and you click the box of the guys you want to trade then offer it

Top 5 fantasy defence can be picked up on waivers....your crazy?

A good defence can outscore your TE....so I say its VERY important.

The kicker on the other hand can be plucked from the waiver wire and place in the top 10 easily.

Phinsfan except for the bi week your team is stacked.

LOL That is all I can do is chuckle at the remark Berekely made, and that Mikeo agreed on.

Ill gladly make the bet Berkely.

I dont want to sound arrogant but its very rarely that I dont make playoffs in any of my fantasy leagues, heck last year in my money league I went undefeated untill week 9 because of injuries to two players, and a bye for my defense, still made it to championship game, but certain players where rested!!

Lol who said anything about drafting a kicker, and defense early?

If you wana wait to get that on the waiver wire then more power to you, but don't complain when you get beat every week, because your kicker, and defense isnt giving you an extra 15 to 40 points a week.

Nice pic of Ricky--let's just save everyone some time and send it to me right now. lol

I think the Booby prize should be called the Dave Wannstedt Trophy...

No Ranger, no one drafted him. It was late, I over-looked him and took G Tate instead and since I had the 12th pick I was 3rd on the waiver list so I got him. Gotta have a Dolphin on the roster

Actually I did because I had the Bears D in 06 and 07 and he was going crazy the year before (06) as well and the Bears were the number 1 fantasy defense in the league.

They were giving me about 20 points a week on D. It wasn't just KR and PR's, it was FR and defensive TD's, shutouts to less than 6 ppg, ints and sacks.

No one has really had the chance to pick on my lineup yet so here goes...

QB Phillip Rivers (4k, 30 TD Qcool smiley

RB Adrian Peterson (top 2 RB with more size and a better passing game to back him)

RB Ronnie Brown (will have his first 16 game season in years and make the PB with 1300 yards and 17 TD's)

WR Donald Driver (2nd receiving option with a 4k yard Qcool smiley

WR Terrell Owens (Will be Cincy's number 1 option this year and record over 1000 yards and 10 TD's)

TE Owen Daniels (Pro Bowl TE coming off injury but is 100% healthy but may not be in football shape for a few weeks)

Bench:

Jahvid Best: Pick based on explosiveness that could become feature back in Detroit.

Jermaine Gresham: Already emerged as number 1 TE in Cincy and has weapon all around him...TO, Ocho and Palmer.

Dez Bryant: Owner loves him and he looked good before hamstring injury...is back now and will soon take over for Roy Williams in a 4k passing offense.

Cowboys D...another top 5 Defense....some see me for a trade when mine is netting twice as many points as yours....hehe

Kyle Orton: Strictly a bye week player but solid.

Josh Cribbs...Has looked explosive since getting more snaps as a WR...only competition is Brian Robsikie who had 7 catches last year...is working himself into plenty of snaps.
Defense Steelers (have playmakers all around and Polamalu is back!)

K Robbie Gould (was "gold" a few years ago and is now playing behind a Mike Martz offense which will help Cutler move the offense but may get a lot of field goals)

Mo Massaquoi...can he build on an impressive rookie season?

I am not in the league but barring injuries that looks like a damn good team. Which rd did you pick Ronnie Brown and Rivers.
