I've never been much of a Sean Smith fan, but I didn't expect him to implode this way. He's been beaten for two firsts now-both by a couple of steps. He is stumbling all over the place. Embarrassing.
Covering a guy man on a short dig route is one of the hardest things to do, expecially when the guy you have to run with has the potential to run a 4.3 fourty
He has the tools...just not the maturity to utilize them. Look at his twitter page. He is very immature. THe sooner he realizes this the better off he will be.

True, but it's obvious our top 2 CBs are starting. I can't believe I'm saying that, but Jason Allen was amazing today!
Sean Smith filled the third safety role that Tyrone Culver normally plays. Most of the time, he was on the TE. With his size, that's not a bad use of him.
He did NOT play solid. Last big play of the game? that tackle was by Dansby and Davis, not Smith. Smith got beat by three yards on a five-yard route twice in the first half. Pathetic. Watch him. He was staggering around like a drunken man, he could barely stay on his feet. He's usually out of position off the line, relies on his athleticism to catch up. This year, its not working too well. He isn't any good as a safety either, because he is a poor tackler. We'll just have to hope he gets his head back on straight enough to be successful as a corner.
read what you just posted. he got beat "twice" on "five yard outs". do you honestly expect anyone but the premier corners in the league to be able to cover five yards outs and drags against 4.3 speed guys like harvin? if you do then thats ridiculous. and smith recovered and made the tackle after at least one of those plays. he also had blanket coverage on the last BIG Play of the game, which was obviously the fourth down where the vikings turned it over and miami could then run out the clock. seriously give the guy a break and give him a chance to prove himself this season before you throw him to the wolves.

I like the move. Smith has the size to play safety, and Culver played terrible against Buffalo. Smith needs to get more physical. That's his main problem. He's all about finesse.
